A couple of points for your consideration.
Firstly, while this is a good "starter" model, if you want to take some serious footage you might want to look at some models that can accomodate 2 or more commonly 3 lenses on a turret so that telephoto (close up) and wide angle shots might be taken, while also offering better lens optical quality and lens interchangability. Off the top of my head, Emel C93 (French), Bell & Howell 134-TA (UK/US) and Eumig C3 (Austrian) are some period correct models to consider. These go for peanuts on ebay, especially when you consider the cost of buying film and its developing/scanning, so investing on a camera that will get the most out of your expensive film is a good investment.
Secondly, to use the camera effectively and maximize the clarity of your footage, you will need a Rangefinder/Telemeter to gauge the distance of your subjects so that you can focus the lens properly each time, as well as a good reliable lightmeter, so that you may gauge and set the correct lens opening to allow for enough light to reach the film. The camera comes with some rudimentary "guestimates" writen on it for you to consider in regards to both distance and light, but using those (as I regretably did the first 2 rolls I shot) will get you out of focus and under/overexposed footage that you can barely make anything out of. Remember, you are shooting 8mm film which is magnified 4 times as much as 16mm film or 16times as much as 35mm film, so your latitute of error is much smaller and thus anything you can do to boost clarity is a must to get footage similar to what you 're used to seeing in documentaries (both ally and axis armies shot either on 16mm or 35mm film). Also in regards to getting good footage, a portable (collapsible) tripod is also recommended for use when possible. At a mere 8-16fps, even with really steady hands the footage can appear shaky, especially as theres an added shakiness introduced in the scanning of the film which is usually only corrected if you pay extra.
As for film selection, when it comes to Double 8mm the Fomapan R100 film stock, really is king as it usually costs only about 10-15 euros per roll depending on where you buy. It is black & white however, but then given your intentions I think thats a plus really.

Using Apps to simulate 8mm is cheap, but nothing can beat the feeling of using a real camera.
A few months ago I took my great grandfathers Agfabox - which he bought for the war and used it there - from the attic and took some photos of our winter holidays in Tyrol. Even though the pictures are terrible (I had no previous experience) I had a blast taking them.
Hope you will enjoy your camera just as I do.
    Greetings from Austria
(If you are looking for film try "Fomapan" idk if they also produce film for moving pictures but they have great cheap film for old photo cameras"
