"STAY ".."Everlasting love" and " Hollywood""..Omg..pure fire..some grown folk shhh..love Chaka best when she was lead for her band Rufus.. puree talent at its best
Ok, get ready to laugh ... I had this album on 8-track tape and I still remember when it jumped to the next track in the middle of a song!😂😂😂 “Stay” is my favorite song by Rufus / Chaka ...🤩🤩👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🥰🥰💥💥
"Stay" is just one of the great songs from the Street Player album. That's what made buying Rufus albums special. I could play their albums start to finish. Every song is great to hear.
Being from Chaka's hometown, Chicago, I had the privilege of seeing Chaka n Rufus, early. They always did the damn thing. Tell Me Something Good, is another must listen.
You've been covering my whole top five female voices: Chaka, Anita, Teena....this is one of my favorite Rufus & Chaka Khan joints.... pure heat... along with Hollywood, Please Pardon Me, SweetThing, Dance With Me, Your Smile.... they have so many great songs...
EVERY Rufus (with Chaka Kahn) album was fire like this. Every song is different, they NEVER repeated themselves. I graded all but their first album A-plus. (The first one gets a solid B.) Great songwriters, arrangers and players. Even the stuff they did with Quincy Jones was great. Every song on Street Player is a different adventure. I can't recommend a favorite.
Rufus had an aesthetic that matched various seasons and demographics. Chaka personified Mother Earth with her genius vocal phrasing, primal exclamations and cerebral lyrics. That whole album was "Smokin' Room" material. 😉
This is my favorite jam from Rufus and Chaka Khan! "Stay" is definitely a vibe. Satori, my brother, thank you for reacting to this great jam. Please react to the song called, "All Of Me" off the "Echos Of An Era" album featuring Chaka Khan on vocals and five jazz greats as her band. It came out in 1982, it's a great album. Another great Chaka Khan jam is, "Don't Go To Strangers" off of Rufus and Chaka Khan's album "Stompin' At The Savoy"! Check it out, bro. Take Care, man. Much Love & Respect. ✌
Erykah Badu remade this. I love Erykah, that's my girl, but she should have left this one alone. If you're going to do Chaka, your vocal instrument has to be extremely strong as hers is. Chaka is a vocal beast.
I feel the same way as you about this song that Erykah covered. Never mess with perfection. The only person that covered a Chaka Khan's song successful was the late great Whitney Houston "I'm Every Woman".
@@portiamatthews9654 Although Chaka & Whitney were friends & Whitney sang backup on some of Chakas songs, Chaka was not happy about her remaking her signature song.
@@LG-kx8xl now that I didn't know about Chaka Khan wasn't happy about Whitney Houston covering the song. Chaka Khan is even in the video. Luther Vandross also did background vocals for Chaka Khan you can hear his voice clearly on the song Papillon.
Chaka style and the way she sings her songs is great ..she can sing funk r&b and jazz if u see her concert in Washington, dc the jazz channel in 2000 where she sang current hits and jazz the band was great as well
This is my favorite Chaka &Rufus song. I also love "Please pardon me". There is nobody that sounds like her. Thank you for playing Stay. Brings back so many good memories.
Chaka Kahn is flawless! She has been underrated in my opinion. I put her in the top 5 with Aretha and Patti. I'll leave space for 2 others. But Chaka got some pipes and man can she blow!!
I love "Stay" and "Do You Love What You Feel." My older cousin truned me on to Rufus and Chaka Khan, Elton John, and Fleetwood Mack and I haven't looked back. But Chaka had some great and eclectic songs outside of her musical relationship with her former bandmates. "Stronger than Before," "Earth to Mickie", "Papillion", and "Night in Tunishia." all come to mind.
I truly look forward to you reacting to more Chaka. Might I suggest Papillon Aka Hot Butterflies? Or maybe Hollywood? I second, Do You Love What You Feel?! Great talented singer with a lot of good music. I love your channel. Keep doing what you do. Peace
Always loved this! Those strings accenting, such a lush sound. What a classic!! Glad to see you Satori My G bobbin’ and vibin’ to Rufus featuring Chaka Khan!!
Yo! This is one of my favorite jams by Rufus/featuring Chaka Khan. They played this joint in concert and I was a finger poppin, toe tappin swirling sister.
You have to check out the song “Ain’t Nobody “ an really hear Chaka at her best, I also recommend Rufus’s only instrumental song “Slow Screw Against the Wall” if you want a treat.
Should listen to some songs by the Barkays. "Shine' is one of my favorite. Also for some funk check out George Duke & Stanley Clarks version of "Mother ship Connection"
Yes sir. Great pick. But go back further......... Rags to Rufus and Rufus featuring Chaka Khan (the lips and hips album cover). ♥ Rufusized and Ask Rufus are my favs tho.
Have you done any Deniece Williams yet? Silly, Black Butterfly, Cause you love me, Free, It's gonna take a miracle, let's hear It for the boy. Just to name a few lol
"It's Important To Me", "How'd I Know That Love Would Slip Away", "If You Don't Believe" "Watching Over", "Time", "Baby Baby My Love's All For You", "The Boy I Left Behind", "We Have Love For You", ""Season",, "The Paper", "Touch Me Again", "Why Can't We Fall In Love", "God Knows", "Strangers", "A Part Of Love", "Sweet Surrender", "I Want You" ....
Rufus and Chaka doesn't get any better than this! Thanks for the reaction! Check out "Do You Love What You Feel" and "Everlasting Love"
Yess everlasting love is my songgg
Loved all the early Rufus. Chaka’s vocals were stellar. And the band was smoking!!
Not inducted into the hall of Fame 2wice. They are so deserving
On of my favorites by her is the severely underrated "Papillon (aka Hot Butterfly)" off of her 1980 album Naughty...
I agree
Love that song!
This woman has no vocal equal..Chaka Khan Chaka Khan stayyyy
0 I think she is the best ever.
Agreed!!!!
Check out At Midnight, Everlasting Love, Ain't Nobody, Hollywood, Tell Me Something Good
Love how Chaka and Rufus harmonize. Got do Hollywood & Please Pardon Me both also show their harmonies. Plus they have so many more jams
Okay! This was a song EVERYBODY loved and still loves today!! The vocals make you feel every word. Great choice. You're on 🔥!!!

Don’t get me started on Everlasting love
Life goes on, but I've always wished that Chaka and Rufus remained together. This cut is one of my favorites from them.

This is very 70s Chicago music, my Mother and father used to dance to this song. My mom still has this record.
Love me some Rufus and Chaka Khan please play more
My favorite Chaka Kahn song is At Midnight. It will blow you away.
The drive of this song is incredible.

Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when this was recorded. Chaka was in her bag on this vocal!
So happy you are delving into some real Chaka...she is so much more than I'm every woman
It was great watching you enjoy this one. I love Rufus and Chaka -- the talent, the talent!!!

Summer of '75 or '76 I think. Classic album by Chaka and Rufus,so many great songs on it.
Loved when Chaka was with Rufus, so sexy on the stage, danced and sing their butts off.
Chaka’s voice is so strong and crazy on this one. Well Chaka’s voice is bananas period lol. However this just one of my favorites.
Can you please listen to Chaka Khan: "Sweet Thing?"
