Stunt Rally's whole purpose was as a platform for a track editor. I remember beating it in around 45 minutes and then just going to town with the editor making all sorts of crazy, fun, and sometimes glitchy tracks.
The controls on the road are fine for drome racers, especially if you choose the right car. Each car behaves differently on each surface. It was probably too complicated for kids though, and it should really be played with analog controls. I liked the variety in surfaces, actually needing to counter steer, and so on. It was a reasonably good game. One thing I liked about it was playing split-screen with my little brother, and I could give him a chance by choosing a suboptimal car.

I started to speedrun Drome Racers. I agree that it's just an average racing game, but as a part of my childhood I still love it. And the speedrun is pretty challenging because the fastest road car is a real demon to control (the Torq Racer).
My younger brother absolutely LOVED Stunt Rally. He played it every day for like 3 months when he was barely old enough to talk, and wound up beating it completely by himself. Then he found out a few year later that the game essentially plays itself with the “keep the player on the track” programming, and his childhood nostalgia became abject rage at the fact that he hadn’t truly beaten the game He’s still pissed to this day, and any mention of Stunt Rally gets him to scowl.
I remember actually going to LegoLand with my parents right before Drome Racers came out and they showed an in-depth movie, like 15 minutes almost, of characters and racing, with power ups and stuff, and that's the main thing that kept me coming back to this game ten years ago. Lego Stunt Rally is the mayor from Lego Loco's favorite game. It says it on the sign advertising for the mayor in Lego Loco. It is viewable if you run a train with a magnifying glass over it.

I wish you can like unlock character in Stunts Rally if you beat the race or see ending or something, you know? Like the Lego Racers, you can actually fully customize your character into a NPC or vehicle in Lego Racers, (well, not Lego Racers 2 unfortunately.)
I'd be willing to bet Drone Racers uses a similar game engine to Rollcage and Firebugs, which is why I picked up a copy for cheap. Firebugs has a great soundtrack, btw..

But this game was absolutely fun. The repetitiveness and easiness of gameplay, it's alright maybe but that was all its futuristic presentation and enhancements it amused me.

I had LEGO LOCO, LEGO Chess and LEGO CREATOR, the LEGO chess game never worked properly and used to crash and there was only one lucky time it installed properly.
Its a shame Drome Racers ditched the charming Lego universe that made the other games unique. What if they made a Lego Racers 3 or even a reboot? I would be down for that
Sadly, there's still no word on a new Lego racing game, but there is a spiritual successor to Rollcage in development called GRIP, which I backed at kickstarter, and even at it's current state, it already shows a lot of promise.

Drome Racers implies that the vehicles are made with legos if the cover is to be believed, but what's the point? Also, Drome Racers was the last lego racing game for a while until Lego 2K Drive, developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Games.
what so good is about these 'reviews' is that they focus more about the game and it's greatness and big flaws, rather then 'reacting' to what is happening on the screen. Jontron reacts more on what happens and he uses the same video format. it's a lot different and I like your videos a lot. Keep up the good work!
idk why but the lego stunt rally disc i got when it was in the stores was just silver disc with a black print of the stunt rally picture like on the normal discs. i wonder why they did that..

I found Stunt Rally years ago in a thrift store. I think I only paid a quarter for it... Never could get it to work. Seeing this, I'm kinda glad I never did. Also, looking at it I'd have no idea Drome Racer was a Lego game if it didn't have a version on Lego.com back in the day.

Is Lego stunt rally for PlayStation 1 very hard to find a copy of it found most of the older Lego games include Lego racers 1and 2 and Lego island 2 for ps2
The PS1 version was cancelled and there are no builds of the game known to exist, in other words you can’t play the PS1 version, because it was cancelled (that is unless if someone finds and leaks a build of the game online, but tbh I doubt that will happen).
yes the first Street Race car you get is VERY floaty and the back end just loves to do its own thing. Front engine, RWD I think, so it's very light in back. were you using a controller or keyboard? cos if you have analog steering it helps a LOT.
If you played further into drome racers the controlls get more bearable, but you should stick to like, 3 of the offroad cars, as the other 3 handle like someone drank 3 litres of pure vodka

i do like that you bash stunt rally for no control. Then say drome racers controls bad. Music is also what made lego racers memorable to me, and that aspect doesn't appear at all it appears. I would say that it's just nostalgia glasses, but the rival challenges in drome racers kept the replaying of the game i did recently more interesting. I'm not saying you can't have an opinion of course, but i feel like there's some parts including the way tracks have (i believe two) varients that's also an interesting thing.

I miss playing Stunt Rally.
I only ever played the demo for it as a kid. It came on a Lego demo disc that came with a collection of other Lego games.
