Ikr, that watch goes for under €400 on multiple websites. Having half a dial (which is only a few cm) handpainted does not add more than €600 worth of value. Also goodluck to anyone selling that watch in the future, it isn’t factory anymore so you won’t get half what you paid.

IFL is a basic scam, I’ll rather get an original watch for a normal price then pay 140% extra for just a different dial. Like Tissot Prx 80 is listed for €1490 on their website like wtf. And the dial looks basic.

The only thing I hate about Nico is not acknowleding the spring drive movement. You can hate the dial, you can hate the price, you can hate the design. But this movement should get the respect it deserves.

I have one as well and I'm happy with it. I love the dial and the finishing is well done.
I think the praising of GS went a bit over the top as a counter to Rolex being unattainable and people being annoyed.
That's probably what annoys Nico a bit.
I like my GS. I can wear it at more places without being robbed or looked at as a snob for wearing a Rolex.
If you want everyone to know you can spend that much money on a watch, a Rolex is recognised by everyone. But that has downsides as well.
The bracelet on a Rolex is nicer with the adjustable clasp.
Investment wise a Rolex is more interesting at the moment.
In the matching lines of OP vs sports model GS, I find the GS more interesting due to the nice dials.
But I like a Daytona and submariner more than the GS alternatives.
You don't have to focus that much on these things. Having a strong opinion online is nice for views and engagement in the comments, leading to views.
GS represent people who could not afford real watches and now try to defend the decision as being based on anything other than being too poor 😜

I have Rolex, zenith, bell and Ross, IWC. I bought a GS because I wanted a great everyday watch on a lightweight titanium bracelet. It also keep wicked good time! I lost 3 seconds last month that is insane

I have a Seiko 5, it’s my first proper watch, and I’m so glad it was shown on this video with Nico saying it’s a great first watch. This channel has dropped me deep into the world of watches and now I must grind until my finances can help me build a proper collection lol

I like grand Seiko and when Nico said that he opened the back on one of them and said that there is nothing special and it's dog dead simple, That's the point Nico, The spring drive system is a leap in horology tech. Combination of mechanical and quarts to make something unique and special took Seiko a stroke of genius and load of engineering to do. If you where to look at other brands, No other brand has made a spring drive equivalent nor has any other brand has made a different type of movement innovation up on till the release of spring drive ( the high frequency quarts, I know I know, That came too as well ) It takes quite a lot of engineering to make something work and simplify it.
GS make a lot of watches that are not Spring Drive and I feel that GS hate should specify whether it's Spring Drive or Automatic hate. Personally I'm all about the dial finish and I would love to add a spring drive to my collection (most likely a snowflake). But I'm with Nico that some GS are just outrageously ugly and expensive. I remember he did clarify in one of his videos (perhaps one of those tier ranking videos) why he doesn't like GS much, and he did showcase some proper ugly watches from their collection. No mention of Spring Drive though.

I view the spring drive as the rotary engine that Mazda used to make, It was not everyone's cup of tea but boy when those people loved it, They loved it.

IFL is an aftermarket brand who designs and had paints watch dials and cases. They don't try and take ownership of the actual watch brand. Either you like the IFL mods or you don't, but at least they are honest. Hublot is trying to position themselves as a luxury brand on par with Rolex and Audemars Piguet, yet they don't put in the effort. Even the external craftsmanship isn't that great. Hublot simply puts most of their effort in marketing as opposed to watch making.

I wouldn't buy it, but at least they are honest about what they are. Hublot just doesn't give the quality for their money. It isn't just Nico who hates them, rather they are hated by a lot of people in the watch community for that reason.
How come no one has seen the inside of a GS when they have tons of watches with exhibition cases?

It's nothing fancy, but it's a start. I really like orients. I'm not sure why, but they sit just right on me. sadly cant wear metal wrist straps, as i have oddly shaped wrists so i use natos, leather, or nice nylon ones depending where I will be. mesh wrist straps work too, but i have to fix sizing throughout the day if i feel like a metal band. i rarely do , mostly due to my out door life style and being really rural and rarely going to the big city for anything formal.
I own a PRX and I could never imagine just throwing it across the room to a mate 😂
Matter of fact, I don’t think I’d even throw my g-shock.
Gotta be one of the most passionate people on this platform tbh, I dont even wear watchs anymore I just come thru for Nico

The big thing for me about a watch comes down to three things:
can I afford it?
do I love it?
will it be serviceable in 20 years time?
Omega rebuilt my 1999 seamaster (almost cost as much as I paid for the watch back then) hilariously, they stripped it, replaced 20 parts, and sent back the stuff they replaced.
Thing measures at +\- 3s so v happy for a 25 year old watch.
Superb comment from the Omega boutique person: “what did you do to it, the workshop said they had never seen a seamaster in that condition”. Went surfing with it on a few times a week for 15 years. It’s a SEAMASTER right?
Do that with a Hublot.

How is GS overrated and Rolex not?
GS is way more exclusive since they only make 40.000 watches a year vs Rolex a million a year.
GS is better finished than Rolex
GS is totally inhouse as is Rolex
GS has heritage as does Rolex.
And both those brands are pretty boring to look at .

Hey Nico. Started my watch journey a year ago and have some pretty seiko's, orient's and vinatge stuff(mainly sentimental value but love it nevertheless) as for now. But now looking for my first entry level watch for around 2.5k-3k. Don't care too much for complications, just want a good, solid watch that I can wear daily, with 100m of water resistance, a bracelet and some lume on a dial. Any recommendations?

Hey Nico, truly love your heart and passion. I got a question, did you know that Hublot chronos are zenith time movements? Does that make a difference? 😂 sometimes in a world where everyone wears a Rolex, PP, Ap, and event VC. Sometimes it’s the other brands. Not saying it had to be hublot. But it just cuts against the grain. Love all that you do.
Thing that gets to me is, just like the PRX was a tribute to their old 70s quartz Seastar, Tissot could have done just fine launching a tribute to their own original 70s digital that took after *that* original. But no, since they already had a s#!]load of PRX cases and bracelets on order anyway, this is what we get...

How about the Orient Star. To be honest I was looking at a Grand Seiko, can't remember which one, it had an automatic movement with quartz, but then seen how much it costs and started think to get multiple watches for that money, Tudor, Seiko and others here I come
I have a Seiko Sports 5. Looks amazing, but the movement is always off like 15 seconds a day. I recently got a tudor and that Seiko has just been sitting in watch case

Bro Nico I am a big fan of IFLW watches ,but the only problem is that they sell watches way more expensive here in India like 50000 indian rupees or like 600 dollar or 495 pounds. BUT STILL A BIG FAN IFLW WATCHES!!!
I can't speak for everyone but this is why I bought my Grand Seiko (sbge295g). I wanted a quality automatic watch i don't need to wind or change battery. i want somthing that will last forever, and we all know if you wat somthing super reliable, you buy a Japanease. the Grand Seiko ticks all the boxes plus 200 meter water resistance and real GMT of 3 times while looking super elegant and sporty at the same time. if you look at the alternative, It's cheaper (i payd just over 5000$ instead of 6200 on black friday) than a rolex wich "everyone" has and all look the same. the SPRING DRIVE is just a superpower of this watch. i will never buy a watch without it ever again. BTW, i am definatly not left wing in politics! i don't know where Nico got that thing from. to be honest, that's what bothers me the most about his thoughts on Grand Seiko. don't call me a lefty!
