- extending platforms 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14;
- upgrading railway tracks and overhead wiring;
- relocating underground utilities, drainage and signals;
- removing redundant track infrastructure.

Did you know where central is now was the Devonshire Street Cemetery, located where Sydney's Central Station now stands. A vast cemetery once sprawled across the land bound by Sydney's Elizabeth, Pitt and Devonshire streets - where Central Station now stands.

Hi Phil, at first i thought you may have been going for the Guinness Book of Records for high speed return trips to New York. LOL. Glad to hear that all went well and you got back safely. Interesting to see how the progress is going on at Central. I am wondering if they will ever get the new train tunnels and stations open here in the city, as I have recently read that the funding may be running out. Interesting reading all the history of Central Railway Station. Anyway, all the very best. Rob in Melbourne Australia.

The platforms are not being shortened. Work to extend platform 11 may have started as soon as you left.
New foundations have now appeared.
