Oh man, this video breaks me. I was about to buy a tribute, tobacco burst. On Dec 6th I got sick..went to the hospital emergency room. I woke up two weeks later having been put in a medically induced coma. I had had an pneumonia infection spread from my lungs, into my heart, destroy 2 heart valves, it also spread to my Kidneys putting me on Dialysis and spread to my liver. I was in the ICU for over a month, and bc I was gone so long from work, I lost my job, which means I also lost my health insurance..I missed Christmas with my family,. So now..no Tribute in Tobacco Burst..any money I do get has to go to docs appointments and meds. Plus I need heart valve surgery. But...one day. For now I'll keep dreaming, and one day I'll have this Tribute, a real Gibson Les Paul. The Tributes to me are beautiful:). Hope everyone here is doing well.
Praying for your health to be fully restored
Damn! The US health care system sucks, as so does labour laws. In most European countries health care is free and it's illegal to fire someone due to sickness. On the other hand, we don't make cool guitars like this (aside from luthier made knock offs). I really hope you regain your health and everything works out for you.
@@felixfranzen7318. First of all. The U.S. has the best Doctors in the world. When Foreign Dignitaries get sick, they come here for treatment. And you think your medical care is free ? Haaa. Nothing is free, you pay for it in exorbitant taxes. Learn how the real world works.
@@felixfranzen7318nowhere in Europe is health care free! You pay taxes and/or additional fees which are deducted automatically from your salary. It is far from free.
Best wishes from a German, who lived and worked in Sweden also.
@@felixfranzen7318Health care is NOT free in europe. We pay high taxes here, way higher than in the US. Getting fired for such an unpredictable event really sucks though!
I do hope that is Pat is doing a little better now compared to 11 months ago.
I bought the Honeyburst Tribute this past August and for the money, you cannot go wrong. I was debating between the Tribute and the Studio, I'm 110% happy to have gone with the Tribute.
What made you decide to go tribute?
Ive been playing both Studio and Tribute (2013 and I feel more comfortable w the tribute neck (satin nitro finish make it easier to moving around the back of the neck) And the sound feel a little bit more bright which i think from the satin finished
I just got a guitar, that I can't believe how much I love! An Epiphone 1955 Les Paul Custom. P 90s, ebony fingerboard, Gibson Pick-ups, gold hardware. Amazing!
I bought one of these guitars last year and it was a really great guitar. It was pretty stripped down for a Les Paul but man it felt super comfortable in the hand up and down the neck and had incredible sustain. I liked the thin finish on the body it made the sound of the instrument really vibrate. The pickups were great sounding and didn’t need upgrading. I could play everything on it classic rock, hard rock, metal whatever it all sounded good. Great guitar that made me want to pick up and play every time I would see it. Unfortunately I ran into money issues and had to sell it. Really miss it.
I'm glad you guys gave some love to the Tribute. I've owned a total of 5 Les Pauls, 3 Gibson & 2 Epiphone. I still have my Classic Player Plus and my Tribute. I pick up my Tribute time after time, it is such a great guitar, I love the way it plays as well as the way it sounds. If you are on the fence this guitar is the best value out there.
I keep telling people this is one of the best guitars they make!
As far as price and what you're getting, I totally agree.
I love the tribute guitar. I like it better than a standard. I like the satin finish. It feels better than the gloss.
If you love telecasters but want a comparable value real USA made Les Paul this guitar is a no brainer. I have a several a lot more expensive Les Pauls that rarely leave the house. Because if something were to happen to them it wouldn't be easy for me to replace. I really like the stripped down november burst look of this guitar and it sounds fantastic.
Sold my tele after nine years of tele only for a 2017 tribute. Always in tune. One pins heavier than my Strat. Best guitar I’ve owned.
You defo play better than Trogly :)
Trogley's music teacher is John. 😂
😂😂😂
I have a 2014 Tribute honey burst in a satin finish, and I absolutely love ❤️ it. Thanks 🙏 for sharing this video. 😊
My Gibson Les Paul Tribute in tobacco burst arrived 1-2-22.Love it! Very Nice video by the way!My tribute has amazing flame on the body and maple neck!Very pleased! Plays as good as my 2019 Gibson Les Paul Standard 60’ in unburst. Relatively new sub! Great videos!Loved the Gibson tours !!!!
My Tribute has been fantastic. I actually like the stripped down finish with the exposed maple faux binding. The setup on mine was spot on. It plays great.
I have a 2021 Gibson standard a 2001 classic and I like this one the best. Maple neck is what sets it apart. Really fantastic deal.
Great review, thank you. I have a 2018 Honey Burst, which came with the upgraded case, mahogany neck and a 498T at the bridge. It is perfect for my home use and the satin finished neck is much better than high gloss. I previously owned an SG 50s Tribute that suffered from a ‘lip’ where the painted neck met the fretboard but the LP is perfectly finished. An no neck dive the SG suffered from!
I picked one of those up last year and was blown away at how good it is ! I usually install '57 classics in everything but, it's perfect as is !! Nice demo and review ! 👌
Bought new 2020 model in tobacco burst, I love it. It's my first guitar-still learning & having fun.
I've had mine for over a year now. Still no regrets. I get random urges to buy other guitars, but realize i am fine with what I have. Thx for your review! Love the maple neck for sure !
I've had it since September and I think it's a tremendous guitar. I already had a Gibson LP Classic but I like it even better. Its natural satin finishes feel better than with lacquer. The finish and quality is the same as the more expensive models. For that price there is no better guitar from other brands.
Has a really balanced sound. Great demo
I have a 2020 les Paul tribute tobacco burst. I love it. I’m thinking of getting an SG tribute next
swapping pickups are easier and quicker with the quick connects. You can get the QC adapters which allows you to use any pickup brand you want.
These are consistently great guitars. Very lively and resonant and with a great set of pickups.
Hey Guys Great line of Reviews of LP's, Enjoyed the specks and getting Down to the insides and outside of These fine GUITARS.
Looks like we might be Looking into some Fenders Soon??, Will B watching any which Way John & Zack Turn! Thanks guys clean Bright looks Into the Blood of A Guitarist
Great guitar 🎸 I love my 2018 LP Trubute - All Mahogany - Satin Honeyburst finish 🥰- Maple Cap @ 9lbs I really like the feeling of wood under my fingers, hense why I don't prefer binding...
That things just reeks of classic rock, especially through the tube screamer. Nice playing.
I have a Honeyburst Tribute and a Newer Classic. The Tribute is my current go to. Lowered the pickups a bit, and added some relief. The Vintage tones are kind of addicting.
sounds like my 2013 LPJ maple neck- rosewood, 490r/498t pickups - kluson- cts- orange drop caps- normal weight relief your reviews are always excellent .
I have one of these. Really can't imagine needing anything more from a Les Paul except maybe more color options.
I have been wanting a Tribute for a long while now. I love a satin finish. Every so often the Demo Shop will have a great one with some special features. Different pickups, tuners, hardware, no pickguard, etc.
Demo shop Tributes are a great deal!
I have the Les Paul Tribute in Satin Iced Tea. Its Back and neck are both deep red coloured so the neck/body joint is less drastic. Also found a one with nice pattern on the rosewood fingerboard. Its a keeper. When I tried it out in the shop it just effortlessly produced the sounds I wanted.
The back of a LP should match the edges of the body's top, as it is on the Iced Tea and Cherry models. This is basic stuff. There are too many different colors and visible pieces going on with this one. I couldn't deal with the way the back looks, while this finish is by far the one I'd want to pick. No one could think the back looks good. At best you'd be unbothered by it. "You want a light, easy to afford Les Paul? Okay, but you have to compromise how it looks." Very white of them.
I used to own a Gibson les Paul “tribute future” that looked identical to this guitar only difference was the tuners it had stienburgers that went straight through the headstock so the headstock looked weird with no tuner tulips or half moons sticking off the sides of it. It was a 2013 I believe and played fantastic. Since then I had an 86 wine red studio., with the Tim shaws, and currently own a beautiful 2012 flame top standard premium plus. The tribute played better than both of them in all seriousness. I wish i never got rid of it. Nice an light and that maple neck ties it all in!
purchased the same one used in mint condition for 560, love the way it looks and feels.
My current go to LP is my 2016 Standard in light burst. I put a Super Distortion in the bridge a while back, which I feel punches my amp in the face a bit better than the stock burstbucker. Getting on fine with the one in the neck, though.
Wow I truly love mine soooo much I just bought a SG as well
I just bought mine a few weeks ago. Man this is a great guitar.
I have a trad pro with a satin finish. It does feel awesome to play.
Nice. I’m at a weird point in my life where for a strat I went the Silver Sky route and for a les Paul i went Eastman. Works for me.
I finally after 20 years was able to buy a gibson usa again in 2021 ..i sold a les paul custom i bought new at $3,200 in the year 2000 when they were still at production prices. I regretted selling it yes but i was out of work for a while at 20 years old and made a quick decision .. i had the choice of buying a studio or a tribute , i really nesrly bought a studio in wine red or the tangerine burst , but ended up with a tribute bc the satin look was amazing , it was like a 50's standard without binding , and the extra coats of nitro gloss . The guitar is so resonate and it sustains wonderfully ..the guitar just rings forever , the maple neck is awesome and the guitars tone reminds me of a 335 ..its a monster player , and was out of the box ..the factory plek job made every note sound beautiful . For 1299 US its a great value and i see the differnce in the US Gibson vs a epiphone ..epiohones are great i have one but the gibson is a great guitar and great playing experience
I’ve been in the market for my first LP, and I’m glad I came across this model. I want a TB color for the guitar, but now knowing I won’t have to spend an arm and a leg to acquire an amazing guitar makes me want to pull the trigger on this guitar as soon as I find one in person and try it out. Can’t wait!!
Really similar in look to the Epiphone 1959 Les Paul Standard. A comparison between those two would be great
Hey man, great demo. I was just looking into this guitar, before deciding on the Fender Kurt Cobain Jag. When I decide to pull the trigger on a LP, I think I’ll most likely get this one.
If I could only make one recommendation to better your channel and your videos, I would say during the “Performance Demo” section, maybe play some chords and let them just ring out and to play some more in a rhythmic style as opposed to a lead style to show a little more diversity in the sound.
Thanks for your time brother and take care.
I love these guitars. I've got a 2015 60's tribute with p90s purchased from gibsons demo shop. Great deal for $1000.
i’m getting the tribute in a month and i’m super exited
I bought a 2020 Honey Burst Tribute this afternoon, and I am very pleased with it. I like that it is a little lighter than my Epi LP....It is traditional LP with some good pickups(YMWV) I like mine, only had since this afternoon.....hmmmm P90s...
I bought a 2nd hand 2020 model for £650, just like this one and I love it. So much so that I've just bought a Tribute High Performance Gold Top to keep it company
I'm in love with that Blue Telecaster she's a beauty.
I have a '21 Trad Pro V, and I love it. Was at GC and played the Tribute, and that will be my next LP for sure. The feel of the neck, and the smoothness of the fretboard is the same quality as the highest end USA models. Best value in guitars by far!
I have a current series Standard 50's Goldtop, Ebony Classic, and the Tobacco-burst Tribute. Whilst the Goldtop and Classic are finished much nicer and are obviously higher spec guitars, I actually think the Tribute feels and sounds the best. I had originally planned to swap out the 490T/R and found that they were perfect for my style of music and I prefer them as an allrounder compared to the burstbuckers.
Just bought Gibson lea paul studio tribute today from zzounds just recived it set up right out of Gibson box dry fretboard but very nice les paul for the money thanks
I have the 2011 Goldtop 60s Tribute with P90S. Tone is nice thanks to the pickups. Goldtop is one of the cooler looks
My more expensive Classic has the same type of electronics. John will cover this in a later video. The Les Paul Modern has the same set up, as well.
I have a Tribute too. Low action - no buzz. Best guitar I’ve ever owned.
The 2018 ones were a boat anchor but yes, just about identical to a standard minus the binding but at almost half the price. Now that you have weight relief ... welll they are a steal
@Play and Trade Guitars Check this comment ... obvious fraud attempt using your picture
Got one coming!.. This video sealed the deal!.. Heard you mention this in the Epiphone greeny video.. Bought a classic earlier this year it
had terrible hum.. sent it back.. got a second one and it's a killer guitar.. Glad i gave Gibson another chance. Looking forward to getting my hands on this tribute!
I have an Epiphone Les Paul Studio with Fishman Fluence Classic pickups but this Gibson has me very interested 👌
Bought one about a month ago and I couldn't be happier.. love that satin
@@Play_And_Trade_Guitar ok and what is it
I’m 70 years old and i just got gifted a tribute from my family what a great guitar it is i can’t find fault with any part of it Thank you for your great point of view on the guitar
I really wish I had one of these guitars. It’s got a one piece neck, rosewood fretboard and nitro which make it better than the Epiphone in my opinion. Better resonance and better action. Too bad it doesn’t have any binding because these tend to get banged up but it’s a cool guitar nonetheless
I own the exact same model. The best neck I ever played.
i had a 2016 50's tribute. I really like the natural finish but the 2 tone neck does look a bit off. i would be good with a black body and natural neck. this one sounds waaay better than mine did but you probably make it sound way better :)
its such a jump in tone from the tribute/studio to the classic.
The one I can afford!! Thanks for the review
Love my 2011 50s tribute. Going 50s style wiring soon. Make it a real tri ute
I watched your videos on all kinds of guitars. I bought a Les Paul Tribute and am very happy with it.
I will go for one soon enough. They do have the Les Paul sound which compels Me to get one. Obviously the lower prixe is rhe deal maker. I subbed see ya around Sir TY.
Bought this from zzounds before dc, great review
I really would like that Les Paul Tribute for my life time guitar 🎸
I like Les Paul Studios. I need the lightest LP as I'm chopped down to 1/4 of my right leg and have severe nerve damage. Weight is therefore a concern. Wheelchair bound etc...
(Edit) I forgot. With a gloss finish....
That tribute is mighty nice though ......
I have a ‘22 Tribute and love it. The only complaint I have is the sharp fretboard. I wish they came with rolled fretboards. Otherwise, the guitar is basically perfect.
Love the clean sound of the 490.
I have a tribute, a studio and a standard. The tribute gets more play time. Great guitar and I'm "les" worried about dinging it up.
I got it as a "scratch and dent deal". It has a few flaws but was priced at epiphone level. So I couldn't pass on it. I love it!
I just bought a tribute 3 months ago, still can’t put it down.. I also got the tobacco burst
Thinking about buying one
Love my Tribute. Plays flawlessly.
A great to have this 👏
I think the only Tribute available with P-90s is the Special. I have a 2011 Studio 60s w/P90s and I think that was the only 'Real" (carved top) LP from the Tribute line. At 7lb6oz it's become my favorite.
I've been wrong before though...
Idk who would do it but I'd like to see a strength test between the headstock on a Gibson maple neck vs mahogany.
I have a epiphone 60’s standard compared to this one is there a good or bad option picking either one ?
I have that exact guitar in that finish.
I need some help with the pickups. I have this exact same guitar and want to put some Seymour Duncans JB and 59 set. Can I use the existing wiring or do I have to upgrade the harness?
1st let me say its a nice guitar..mine is satin cherry sunburst a real beauty..2 it sounds like an electric guitar with humbuckers which it is..3 if bling is your thing..keep on truckin..bling doesn't make it sound better..4 unless you are being paid to play why go in debt over an instrument..5 this guitar is all you need..plus all of the other guitars you already own..take a chance and you'll see for yourself..cheers
My 2013 has a natural back. Mahogany neck. 57 classic pu.
1299? I paid half of that.
This video pops up while I’m actually considering a tribute for the first time…😮
Do it, I love mine. The satin finish and maple neck are what sold me.
Illuminati
Do it. Absolutely worth it.
I absolutely recommend this model. I bought a Iced Tea finish one back in 2020 and liked it so much I just bought a second one with the Honeyburst finish.
What a surprise. They also know what you had for breakfast. This world is screwed.
Have a h.s.s.Strat, es339, P.R.S. Custom. The Tribute is my #1.
I had to sell all my guitars last year due to money issues. Please GOD let me win that beautiful green Gibson Les Paul from Play and Trade Guitars.
Almost bought one a couple years ago the only thing that stopped me was the neck i like fat necks on my guitars other than that was a great guitar
Not my favorite pick ups sounds muffed but with a good set would sound great
Every website lists the nut width as 43mm but it's not even close to that
The snappy sound of maple 😂😂😂 Like you can tell though an amp
Do these come with the treble and rhythm cover that the others come with? Kida looks empty without it
This guitar is their savior! "Composite nut", nice one dude.
The tribute is an excellent guitar if you don't like the slim neck of the studio and prefer a vintage prescribed Gibson Les Paul.
Personally, I wish i would've got the Studio because I actually appreciate the slim neck after playing a 60's SG i learned that it keeps my wrist tendons from cramping unlike the rounded C profile neck.
That all being said, the tribute feels and sounds EXCELLENT!!
How does this compare to the 2014 Gibson LPJ ??
Yes, that Tribute is lookin' better every day..... Especially as I came into this orb the same year as Rock and Roll, the Strat was born, a change was made to my "Don Quixote quest" The GIBSON LES PAUL, and the US dropped the first hydrogen bomb...quite a year..
Thus, for a 50s/60s blues kid a 50s/60s Tribute by GIBSON seems karmatic.. I saw my first LP in 1965 and have been on my "quest" ever since... 57 years....I'm old. Oh Well... .One day...
"I AM Don Quixote the Lord of La Mancha"....
Pretty nice little guitar for the price point.
I have one and it's perfect for rhythm 🤘🏽🎼🎸💥
A bone nut and $200 in new pickups do wonders for these LP Tributes but they’re pretty damn good straight out of the box
After knowing what i like sound wise i say this everyone has their opinions and everyone hears things differently . I dont believe the tribute , special or studio are any less of a guitar then a standard , a classic and a modern . Its all in what you like ..i dont think burstbuckers are better then 490's or 57 classics , they all have their own voice .
Pretty good basic Gibson guitar, but in my modest opinion not worth the money anymore.
12 years ago I bought 2 Gibson LP Studio Worn (cherry and brown), which are very similar to the today's Tribute, but:
1) have traditionally mahagony neck
2) have very good Burstbucker Pro as pickups
3) have costed approx. 500 Euro each.
The old LP Tribute 50 models (till 2016) had the same specs (except. the pickups, 490R neck and 498T bridge). At that time the price was still under 800 Euro.
I never regretted that buy. Both guitars still look great and sound great.
Today's Tribute models have a maple neck (not really a traditional spec for a Les Paul) and cost approx. 1200 Euro.
