- The Darktide threatens to overwhelm the Moebian Domain. But the most critical battle to preserve this vital bastion of the Imperium will not be fought in some distant theater of war. It will be won or lost within the city of Tertium.

All that talk of blocks makes me want a Warhammer 40K city-builder
40K Hive city manager would be pretty fun I bet.
Would be a great addition if you.played the administration and have other players trying to play hive cities. Mmo type beat
If someone would make Rome or Pharaoh style Warhammer 40K game my life would be over.
Now all i want to do is build giant statues for the God Emperor's honor.
Closest game I can think of would be Frostpunk. Nowhere near the same scale, of course, but it definitely captures the "Industrial Dystopia" theme quite well.
Owlcat's Rogue Trader game might have a degree of city-building. They had city-building of a sort, fairly rudimentary but still present, in their previous cRPGs. The Rogue Trader cRPG will likely involve claiming worlds and building things on them as well to some extent.
Yay! Who knew a infested hive full of Daemons, plague Zombies, cultists, and traitor Guardsmen could be so much fun to go for a stroll through with a boltgun in hand and a Thunderhammer on your back?

When you have been a 40K fan long enough to dread as soon as they start describing the Sixth Regiment even before Grandpa Nurgle comes up.

Well brothers it's time for the ultimate promethium. EXTERMINSTUS THIS CHAOS INFESTED WORLD
Demons and aliens are largely fictional, but concepts like this? The hive cities? Those actually unnerve me. Because in a lot of places in real life you can legit see them as the kind of environment that can exist 😟
And they have. Look up the Kowloon Walled City and Cabrini Green.
I spent a semester in Moscow some years ago. Especially, the residential districts (mine was Ramenki, I think) where each housing block was sort of an arcology of its own complete with shops, pharmacies, bars, restaurants and in some cases even schools, so technically you would never have to leave the block, really made me feel like it was only a few steps away from being a proto hive city.
can exist?
they have existed. just not to that scale.
It's just a bunch of Israelis stacked on top of each other
With the construction of Earth's first true arcology being built in Saudi Arabia, we step blithely one step closer to creating our own hive cities.
Templin Institute: "A garden worthy of the grandfather."
The Inquisition: We would like to have a few words with you...
And take your worLd down with you
(Sorry for puns)
I love the good, life-giving, happy spin on the ideology of the Nurgle-aligned 6th Regiment. It's sinister and if you aren't aware of the background, sounds appealing. Great job on this one guys.
A God of life and it's ceaseless flourishing, Nurgle.
Just don't look at that "life" for more than 3 seconds 😂
@@OljeiKhan or from closer than a few lightyears
As someone who barely knows anything of Warhammer outside of what's on this channel, I genuinely thought this was another "unbiased observer report" style video (and thus thought the 6th Regiment were the good guys or something) until I saw the mass of eyeballs while the narrator was saying "life flourishes in their wake" and was like wait a second, something is fishy here.
Then again, given the universe we're talking about, the words "fanatical church" to describe the imperium and its religion should have sent alarm bells ringing immediately,
@@kluevo Even those aligned with the Imperium would describe them as fanatical, assuming they can get away with it.

From 12:00 to the end of the video, I thought nothing was amiss until I heard the phrase "garden of the Grandfather". Beautiful ending how you've explained what drives the Moebian VI'th to fight on Chaos's side.
I hope an eventual Boss is a Plague Marine. That’d be the greatest.
A "single" plague marine yes! With bodies and wrecked vehicles from the PDF surrounding the arena to show how incredibly overpowered marines are as comparison!
@@mr.murlock9780 or rather than a boss that your hunting have it be an enemy like the demonbound. A boss that will mess you up if you poke it. But you get bragging rights if you and your team can kill it.
Have it be the Finale of Tertium where we fight our way up to the Spire itself.
An 'ordinary' chaos marine would be near impossible, but a plague marine would be suicide to face. Then again that sounds about right for a reject's mission
Have it be a 16 player raid in an open are scattered mentally with debris to act as cover.
You know, we haven’t seen much of the admonition cult. Only the moebian sixth.
Edit: interestingly, it seems Grendyl’s warband didn’t know about the admonition cult either until the archivum mission update.
I was under the impression that those in yellow were the cultists.
Apostate Preachers of Nurgle would make for great enemies.
@@HowlFromBeyond Enemies in yellow are Dregs.
The cultists you seek could be the dregs (aka, yellow clad enemies)
A yes... a Nurgle cult in a hive city? We have dismissed that claim.
Is this lore actually official from Fatshark? It's amazing, but also I don't think I've read/seen anywhere in the promotional material about the Hive before this video. If so this feels kinda necessary to watch if you want the background of the city for the game and Moebian 6th. Also that was a great read on their chaos corrupted logic at the end
the fact that fresh food and advanced medical care are considered "luxuries unheard of" is somehow more gimdark than all the chaos, warp storms and eldar cheeks combined
The speech regarding the 6th sounds amazing... For anyone who doesn't know a damn about 40k. I love it!
Yeah, I totally fell for it the first time I watched the video
From telling dark truth of the hive city to preaching the bless of grandfather. Smooth change of tone.
Loving the game so far; it's everything a 40K fanboy like me wanted. Even with the bugs and crashes, I'm having a lot of fun. The only thing that's putting me off is the way they implemented the cash shop.
Nahh, Contracts are the worst right now. Can't play what I want, because I need 25 scriptures, 25 missions... Minimum of 10 hours of gameplay, if I run the easiest possible missions, IF I'm very lucky. And that's per character.
Inquisitor: Emperor’s Balls! HERESY!! {Slowly extends index finger towards the exterminatus button}
Extermanatus request: Rejected
Planet's strategic value: Absolute.
Grandfather?

Nobody told me this video would end with filthy bouts of HERESY!
Cleanse the Hive City in holy fire! FOR THE EMPEROR!
It's so cool how we finally get a piece of Chaos-positive media from this franchise.
that last two minutes or so sounds an awful lot like Heresy lol
I just hope we get the forces of Slanesh, Tzzentch and Korn in the future, this game is too good to only feature 1 of the chaos factions
I'm hoping that future seasons see us heading elsewhere in the Moebian Domain to fight other enemies of the imperium. Orks, Genestealer cultists and the like. It'd be very unlikely to face T'au and we'd be DOOMED up against Necrons or Aeldari, but it'd still be neat to have different kinds of missions centered around stealth or a tense cat-and-mouse game
If Slaanesh is added they NEED to have a mission where a reject strike team crashes a heavy metal concert. Er, disperses a foul recitation of obscene Slaaneshi propaganda, that is. With the band as bosses with crazy instrument-weapons
Honestly, if I were to bet actually money, I would bet on Orks or Genestealers. Khorn's the only other chaos god that would lend himself well to Darktide's style of gameplay (four players against an unrelenting horde) and one of the special enemies (the Rager I believe) does have Khorn's symbol on his helmet. Orks and Genestealer Nids on the other hand... yeah those guys would totally be a treat and might work with some tinkering.
@@RongleBringer that would be cool, but I am not sure there is a gamer-friendly audiosystem that would bring the actual full range of acoustic horror of a Slaaneshi-aligned concert. Neither heavy metal nor dubstep would be even remotely sufficient.
The closest thing to mind to describe about a percent of that acoustic torment would be having your ear directly at the nozzle of a fighter jet engine... that is running... with an afterburner active...
@@Archris17 I'm very onboard with genestealer cults, I think that'd be a great idea.

"A garden worthy of the grandfather." YUP. Sounds legit! /s
I doubt we'd ever get to see inside the spires; The cult is very well intrenched within the lower hive, but most of the upper hive is garrisoned by the planetary defence force stopping the cult from progressing further up the city, the front line is pretty much the train station at the entrance to the upper hive as well as a nearby hab zone - so only two maps; One map is set in the outskirts and one in the under hive, with all the rest set in the lower city.
Interesting thing I noticed about the outskirts map was the presence of Dark age of technology architecture; completely different from that of the Imperium, gone are the gothic spires and imperial iconography, replaced instead with the ruins of arching habitation domes, broken ancient environmental equipment and plain brutalist concrete architecture... all covered over with the more recent ruins of Imperial outposts, shrines and corrugated iron shanty towns common to the under hive - all abandoned as the desert has taken over the area, now occupied by cultists with an ancient broadcast tower from pre-imperial Tertium at the end of it, with traces of what the original city looked like thousands of years ago.
Thanks again Templin!
