Viggo makes ANYthing he touches better…brilliant and gorgeous!!!
I'd love to see a separate video about Aragorn and Arwen too. Love your work!
Add me to the list who want to see a video about Aragorn and Arwen!

Hi i enjoy and love this story and would like to hear more video about Aragon and Arwen. Love your work. Thank you.
+1
I'll love that !
Amazing how Tolkien was able to make Aragon so likeable Viggo did the character so much justice couldn't imagine anyone else playing him so well
Though I liked the BBC Radio production with Ian Holm. Great production, keeping the listener to picture people - a huge strength of radio.
Even though not much is said about Aragorn and his years growing up in Rivendell. I believe those years were crucial to his beginning come King. He learned much in lore and the history of Middle Earth and of Arda. He was trained in the arts of war. The elves in the past never told mortals the full story of the Rings. Elrond did not make that mistake and made very sure Aragorn was educated.
In the camp site at the Dunharrow Eowen talks to Aragorn about a tale she hear from her father, namely that Aragorn faught at the side of her grandfather.
Oh please do a video about Arogorn and Arwen.
☕️
:D
4:43 Interested only in the safekeeping of the free peoples of Middle-earth, just as a true leader should be. Politicians, take notes.
I was just watching a what if Boromir got the one ring video and I thought thank God our politicians don't have a ring of power. 😀
Pretty sure at least in the extended version Eowyn has a conversation with Aragorn where they talk about his true age, his service to rohan etc and she says something like "my uncle told me" (Theoden) So in film canon Theoden does know about Aragorns service to his father.
I love the movies but that scene is so cringy and bad. It's hilarious when Aragorn spits out her food.
@@nicholassieloff8701 yea lmao
@@nicholassieloff8701 i think it’s funnier when he tries to pour it out and burns himself because she turns around 😂
@@nicholassieloff8701 disagree
87
Aragorn was 87 during The Two Tower, he said it in the extended version of the film, and if Bilbo had the ring for 60 years, that would mean Aragorn would be about 27 during the Hobbit
The movie was incorrect on this.
10:10 There's a glitch in the Matrix. ;)
I think it's reasonable to think that Théoden knew Aragorn was Thorongil once the War of the Ring came around, but maybe he also just thought Aragorn looked familiar from somewhere. Tolkien certainly gave us plenty to theorize about.
Would love a video about Aragorn and Arwen.
Best character in the entire series.
ehh maybe of the third age
I would love a video on the twins... I never really knew much about them, but would love to.
Yes, please do a video of Aragorn and Arwen. Thank you.
I Woud like a video about the children of aragorn and arwen
Definitely an improvement in the videos in every aspect..information, sound ,amd art has been noticed in a big way as well..well done
Loving the new channel and its smooth transition 🙏👍👍
Thanks 😊
one of this channel’s very best character studies. Any future videos on Aragorn, Arwen, and Beren/Luthien would be most welcome
Thank you! :)
Full Video of the Story of Aragorn and Arwen, yes.
Whoever owns lotr should make a show about aragorns life before the lotr events take place
Build me an army worthy of Mordor!!! That made my whole day!!!:)
Does this mean that aragorn and arwen are step siblings 👀
Awesome he is one of my favorite in my top 5
Elessar👑
I love how much love is written into this lore of Aragorns respect for the hobbits part that continues even after death. 😁
In the 2 towers extender edition theoden tells his niece that Aragon served her grandfather thangar this was during the trip to helms deep its an deleted scene
The extended edition of Ŕeturn of The King has Eowyn talking to Aragon about his age. She mentioned her uncle - King Theoden- sharing a memory about Aragon. King Theoden knew! And for a nice while. I have a feeling Gandalf had a talk with King Theoden about many things, thus making Theoden privy to a lot!! Gandalf and Aragon are good judges of character. Trusting King Theoden was a wise choice for good reason!!! 😉😉
That's from the movie not from the book. The book never made it clear if Theoden made the connection.
Its in the Two Towers bro
As always amazing video, guys maybe this doent interest you, but I wanted to say that I remember you and following you since your very first video about the Dunedain...You dont need to wory, Im sure your Sword will be reforged soon enough and that you will Return As True Kings, The beacons are lit, Brohirim is with you!!!!
Thanks so much. Its awesome that there are people that have been with us that long :)
12:50-12:55 - Aragorn was not king to all Free People of Middle-earth. Rohan, despite allegiance, had its own king. Dale as well had its own king, and so on.
Still, great video guys.
That's right. What about the Dunlendings' king? Are we to assume he ceded power to Elessar? Do they become a part of Rohan?
@@Enerdhil they had no king. They were just... free, in terms of leadership
@@leonardofaber5823Free, but organized enough to send a vast army to fight in Helm's Deep? Hmmm.
Wulf son of Freca had aspirations to be King of Rohan and had a huge army to fight for him, but was not the king of that army? Why did he have do much authority with them? Hmmmm.
What about my point in regard to whose kingdom do they reside in? Eomer's or Elessar's? I'd assume Elessar's.
@@Enerdhil they were being used by Saruman all along. That's why we see their army in Helm's Deep. After Saruman's defeat they stopped attacking Rohan, and their final appearance is during the Scouring of the Shire, again under Saruman's influence.
Sure, they had some leaders like the ones you said, but not in terms of great importance.
Since de Dunland was not part of the United Kingdom (in the Late Third Age), I'm inclined to believe Elessar was not their king. And because we do not have more info, it's hard to state that for sure
@@leonardofaber5823
Wulf was used by Saruman? Where can I find that? There hatred of Rohan preceded Saruman's using them as pawns.
Build me an army, worthy of Mordorrrrrrrrr......its back! thank god, haha, its a good day indeed
cool vid Jake I enjoyed and I think Theoden worked out who Aragorn was by time he left to walk the paths of the dead
Thanks :)
I really appreciate what you do and I really liked the video about UMBAR, It would be great if you could make videos about the rest of the cities / kingdoms in the east because there is not much information in the books.
In the extended edition of the movies, Eowyn explains that Theodin recognizes Aragorn and they talk about his age. So it’s implied he realized who he was and put it together.
Great video. Definitely uk for an Arwen / Aragorn video at some point
Okay it was the tail end of Third Age meaning the Fourth one is just ruling with the Queen until death on both ends.
Ok, here’s a question: when Hobbits put on the One Ring, they disappeared. Why didn’t Sauron and Isidore disappear when THEY wore the One Ring?
The wearer can dominate the ring, provided he has the necessary willpower. And Sauron is, after all, the Lord of the Rings.
Isildur probably didn't have that kind of willpower. Most likely it was just one of the many deviations from the book, but it's also possible that the ring just chose not to make him invisible.
I believe Gandalf explains, at some point in "The Fellowship", how the ring can shrink or extendt and disappear to leave its current wearer. That thing is not without agency, if the wearer is to weak to controll it.
My favorite character! Love how he conducted himself as king and honoring his decrees.
If all our people in charge would be like Aragorn
Please create a segment on Aragorn and Arwen.
I REALLY love the artwork (including the names of the various artists) in your commentaries.
However, Aragorn was aware of Frodo and Co. once they left the Barrowdowns, as he followed them from there, eavesdropping that Frodo was going by the name Mr. Underhill.
Also, it always seemed strange to me how...when Aragorn came to Lothlorin, to rest after his journeys in Rohan, Gondor, and the Far Easy...why Galadriel had him outfitted as an elven prince, and practically set him up for his meeting with Arwen in Carth Galen (sp?), Did Galadriel KNOW with some kind of foresight that they were destined for each other? I just always thought it odd that she dressed him so and sent him to that specific part of her realm, knowing that Arwen would be there....or did she send Arwen there, at that time too. Seems a little "match-making" was being done, lol.
He's the best character in the Tolkien Universe.
This videos are great! 😀 👌🏼
It would be nice to see the relation between Gandalf and Galadriel in the Hobbit the movie there's clearly a connection but I don't know if it happens in the books to.
I will love for you guys to make a video of those two.
Yes, absolutely a video about Aragorn and Arwen
Wasnt Aragon's people have longevity? Decendent of numenor?
yes but Aragorn in particular and his family line are even more special, Aragorn is descended from Elros, the brother of Elrond who chose to be mortal and was the first king of Numenor but through that link he is also a descendant of some of the first kings of Elves and Men from the first age, but also from Melian who was a Maiar (as was Gandalf, Saruman, the Balrog and Sauron) , So basically Aragorn is part man, part Elf and part Maiar who are basically Tolkien's version of angels
Guys please bring back the dramatic readings, i'm loving the videos so far, but those readings were perfect. :)
That was what got us in trouble unfortunately 😔
@@TheBrokenSword I was going to reply and speculate the same thing.
I'd wish we know more on aragorn's adventures in harad and Rhûn... he was already a legendary adventurer, mercenary and the greatestbhubter of his time... becoming King of Gondor was just his final move, his Parade.
Wrong. Everything Aragorn did was to become King of Gondor. It was not as you depict, it was all in preparation for becoming King.
A video about Aragorn and Arwen would be awesome!
Aragon and Arwen would be a nice one.
There are a few discrepancies between your account and my copy of 'The Lord of the Rings' (HMCO; 1983). Aragorn's date of birth was March 1, 2931 (T.A.) so he was definitely 10 (not 11) years old during the Quest of Erebor and the Battle of Five Armies. He would have turned 11 by the time that Bilbo and Gandalf left the home of Beorn to return to Hobbiton, so I'll give you a pass on that.
Appendix A clearly states "when Estel was only twenty years of age, it chanced that he returned to Rivendell after great deeds in the company of the sons of Elrond". It was on that day that Elrond revealed to Aragorn his heritage "and delivered to him the heirlooms of his house." On the following day Aragorn first met and fell in love with Arwen. Later that year Aragorn leaves Rivendell and goes out into the wild. So all this would have been in the year 2951, not the following year. Appendix B also gives the year as 2951.
Appendix B agrees with you that Aragorn's mother Gilraen died in the year 3007. However, I would estimate that Aragorn's final visit with his mother took place sometime during the previous year (3006), possibly in the summer or even autumn of that year.
Did Theoden recognize Aragon? I think it would be unlikely. It comes down to how long was he in Rohan. We are looking at the difference of quite a few decades between him leaving Rohan and his return. How much time did young Theoden spend with Aragon? Probably not much, as he likely would have been on the boarders instead of in court.
Makes me want to check out history of the ages lol i got into the beta of LOTR: RISE TO WAR. BEST WAR GAME I'VE PLAYED YOU CAN STILL P2W IN A WAY. NOT ENTIRELY. BETA ENDS 8/24/21 HOPEFULLY FULLY RELEASED BEFORE THIS YEARS END.
Is there going to be any completely new videos anytime soon?
The size guide video was new... We have a very large back catalogue of videos. We want to try and get them up (updated) as we are getting hundreds of requests for them.
@@TheBrokenSword Oh right!
I do not recall Thedon ever saying anything to Aragorn, so I would imagine that Thedon would have a fondness and trust towards Aragorn because he reminded him of someone he knew as a child, but the power of disbelief would have kept him from putting two and two together.
Soooo LOTR has more in common with GoT then i thought. Since Aragon basically fell in love with his sister.
Cousin... Through an ancient ancestor.
@@ritikshaw5868 they are first cousin, 63 times removed lol. hardly incest not that stuff like that was shunned in those times
Amazing as always guys, keep up the good work
King Theoden was like 70 in the Lord of the Rings. You'd be surprised what you could forget in 60 sum years.
Could you do a video comparing the timeline of the movies vs the books because in the movies Aragorn is almost thirty at the time of the quest of Erebor.
The full story of Aragorn? Yet it goes from Aragorn finding the Hobbits in Bree, to him being crowned king? Great full story
Good content but I wish you could pronounce the final g in words like singing. Would make all even better
In the book, right after curing him, Gandalf pulls Theoden aside and they have a quick chat. Presumably, he’s being told about Frodo and the Ring. So if Theoden is privy to the biggest secret of the age, I would imagine that Aragorn would also feel comfortable bringing him up to speed on his tenure as Thorongil
So big chunks of this video were taken from The Tolkein Gateway with no credit. Why is that?
KFC gave me stomach aches like 15+ years ago. Used to love it, now I hate it. Will not go there. Used to work there as a teenager when the chicken was good. Don't know what the hell they did, but it was hell.
Awesome stuff, keep it coming!
Thanks, will do! :)
In the extended edition of Two Towers, it is revealed that Theoden was aware of Aragorn's time with his father as he told Eowyn, who then found out Aragorn was Numenorean
You keep on playing the voice of Sauron which is dark and discouraging.
One man of many name lmao I think theoden would of figured they were both one and the same person later in life. But HEY who knows maybe not
At the end of The Hobbit, Thranduil tells Legolas to go into the wilds and find a man known as Strider. So wouldn't that really make Aragorn much older than just 11ish by the time if the Hobbit?
The books are different. Legolas was sent to rivendale to let them know that gollum escaped.
There are big difference's between the books and the films but both brilliant
Theoden would have recognized aragorn necklace and known then it was the same homie from before lol
In the movie, why was gimli surprised that Moria was a tomb?
What is the music played in the background
So The Fourt Age is the age of men, correct? How many Elves remain that did not pass over? What happened to Rivendale?
Most of the Noldor (High elves) and Sindar left for the West within the first couple centuries of the Fourth Age. Rivendell and Lothlorien eventually became abandoned and returned to nature. The remaining elves (mostly the Sylvan elves) became more reclusive and kept to the deep forests. As Galadriel predicted, they became a rustic folk of dell and cave, slowly to forget and to be forgotten
Please tell us the love story of Aragorn and Arwen.
He new who he was cuz he told the lady who took his thrown that he was there in his childhood
Have y'all ever done a video of Arwen's brothers?
We did on the old channel yes :)
Amazing into! I had to rewatch it at least 10 times to fully take it all in! Props
The Broken Sword is the shit!!! ❤
It makes me insanely happy to know Gimli went with Legolas to the undying lands. The eternal Bromance!
Where the link to searching for golem? I don't see it
That’s when we found out in the movie his age
Yes I wanna no more about his love life hehe
What role did the Dunedain play?
Yes I would like to see a video on there love
Yay, build me an army worthy of mordor!! I really missed that 😁
Seems like you might be a bit off on Aragorn's age during The Hobbit. I think he was older than you say. He was in his 80s like that in Lord of the Rings. Bilbo was in his 50s in The Hobbit. Lord of the Rings kicks off when Bilbo's 111 years old. I'm no mathematician, but that puts Aragorn in his 20s or 30s during The Hobbit.
Wait wouldn't Bilbo and company passed along time before Aragorn was sent there. Events of the Hobbit were like 60-70 yr prior wasn't it!??
Cool video other than that just not long discovered the channel goo to dive back into Middle Earth lore!
I know somebody already mentioned it, but yeah King Théoden did indeed recognize that Aragorn was the very same “Thorongil” that had ridden out with his father into war.
Éowyn, the niece of King Théoden, mentioned this to Aragorn while traveling in a scene that can only be watched in The Two Towers Extended Edition. Aragorn remarked that King Theoden had a good memory, for he was only a boy back then. This made Éowyn speculate on Aragorn’s old age and discover that he was a Dúnedain.
Your videos are very interesting and also 100% accurate, not so much speculation but, facts based on the books! This Video is no exception. I am impressed and have set out to watch all of your Videos!!
Wasn't Aragorn in his twenties when The Hobbit happened? In the Lord of The rings he's 87 years old and the Hobbit happens 60 years before LoTR.
I don't think Theoden recognised Aragorn. If he thought Aragorn had a normal human lifespan, he wouldn't think it could be the same person. I'm curious whether the stewards of Gondor also lived longer. They should, since they also had some Numenorean blood.
This is no mere Ranger.
In the books, when Aragorn and Eomer meet, Aragorn doesn't hide the fact that he had ridden with Eomer's father.
OTOH I like spy stuff. No reason over time to let Rohan know more than they need.
By the time of the WotR, all bets are off. As another poster mentions, Ganfalf tells Theoden about Frodo and the Ring. In the book he points East and talks about "there is our best hope..." etc, indicating that he had told Theoden the entire plan.
That was my painting
A ten year old man...
The extended version expands on them fighting earlier. He knows who Aragon is or knows that he is a donavan blood. Sorry for spelling.
The extended versions of all 3 are awesome.
Maybe Aragon looked a little different as a young fellow than he did when they freed Theoden. Or they just missed it in the movies. But since Eowyn heard Aragorn had been there helping Theoden's father long ago then maybe they knew
There’s a scene in LOTR where Theoden’s niece tells Aragorn her uncle recognized him. He also reveals his age in this scene, which I believe to be a deleted scene.
Also could you do a video on Arwen and Aragorn if you haven’t done so already? Thanks!
Smash that like button!
:D
@@TheBrokenSword I’m doing my part :p
In the books, Theoden likely did not it was Aragorn. He was a great man and King and he probably would have picked up on it. In the movie none of those events even happened so there was no other person for Theoden to know.
Video clips from the Finnish and the Soviet _The Lord of the Rings_ films would really enrich your content.
