Most underrated Christmas song, I never hear it on Christmas stations
I worked at Home Depot for 10 years. Played Christmas music from 5AM Black Friday until close on Christmas Eve. (Ordered to play Christmas music by our district manager who wasn’t in the store and almost never visited.) Heard five different versions of it. Sometimes all in the same day. No less than four versions of “Jingle Bells” including Barbara Streisand’s version that I dubbed “Jingle Bells on Speed”. (Look it up-you’ll know what I’m talking about.) Also an obscure song played was “The Island of Misfit Toys” and the Peanuts Theme from “Merry Christmas Charlie Brown”. Good times. I survived it amazingly.

I grew up listening to Dean. As a senior citizen now, I listen to Dean during the day, and he sings me to sleep every night. Dean is God's gift to mankind. Dean, you are sorely missed!

My Great Grandfather, Lawrence Scigliano (An Italian-American) had this album when I was a child. It was a 1968 pressing on the Warner/Reprise/7-Arts label with the "orange top" at the top of the label, and a "Federal's Department Store" price sticker on the shrink wrap, since he lived in Detroit, Michigan at the time. One memorable story of this album happened some ten years after he bought it; I played it on his 1960 Sears Silvertone Stereo record player, and accidentally got fingerprints all over the vinyl because I failed to wash my hands at the time (I was only a mischievous 9-year old boy at the time) and he was angry at me about it, for it was one his favorite Christmas albums. I felt real guilty about it, and cleaned it with some Windex and a record cloth; that seemed to do the trick, and it sounded good as new as it did back in 1968; my Great Grandfather forgave me for it. This song opened up Side 2 of Dean's Christmas album, and it still remains one of my very favorites to this day. This song was composed in 1950 by composers Peter DeRosen & Carl Sigman, and was first recorded by Bing Crosby for Decca Records. Bing's version was good, but Dino's version is even better, and covers by The Crystals (1963) and Brenda Lee (1965) are not too far behind. God Bless You, Dino & R.I.P. (1917-1995). R.I.P. Bing Crosby (1904-1977), and my Great Grandfather, Lawrence Scigliano (1911-1983).
