- In this "Language Series" video, I'm trying to get my native English-speaking mouth to try some Turkish phrases. Trust me... It's a challenge. 😂 A huge thank you to my friend Merve from Istanbul for not judging me too harshly.

👩🏾🦱 ABOUT ME 👩🏾🦱
Ciao y'all! My name is Kenya, and I'm an American living in Rome, Italy sharing my experiences and travels while living abroad. After beginning my obsession with Italy at the young age of 9 years old and visiting for the first time during a study abroad/Erasmus vacation about 5 years ago, I hatched a plan that somehow... someway... I would make it to Italy, and here I am!

how do u pronounce the "ç"?

What working peru bacım
I want to learn Turkish, but yea it seems so hard, and alphabets don't make sense to me. I am trying though. It is a beautiful country with beautiful people.
It’s not that hard tho,give it a try 😁
Well, I hope that I could help with at least the basics! Haha! Obviously, I'm not perfect. It was really fun to try though.
Aww so nice
Eeraj Khan I bet you can do it! Just try 😊
i can help u!
Hahahhh i laughed a lot! 😀 I'm Turkish, when you saw a word including so many letters, your face was hilarious! 😀 Turkish is an agglutinative language, so we have many words which have so many letters. But for every letter, we have a sound, maybe it's easier than English. 😊 But your pronunciation wasn't bad, nice try! 😊
Trust me. That face was very authentic. 😂😂😂 Why SO MANY LETTERS? hahaha! Thank you for the Turkish compliment. It means the world to me.
actually Turkish is much harder and she was great
I laughed too 😁 I am from Serbia and we have those letters ç (č), ş (š)... So it was easy to me pronounce. But exception is ı and ğ. That was weird but now when I know I can read every word. And we have some some similar words like haydi and yok 😄
Me too
İsmail Aslan it is not easy
Turkish is phonetic so when u know how to pronounce the letters, you can read anything
My friend stressed this to me too. I think if I actually studied Turkish, it would definitely have been easier. Haha! It was really fun to try though!
That is wrong actually. There are more sounds in Turkish than the letters. Longness/shortness of vowels/syllables, palatalization, vb. aren't usually shown in writing (you can use ^ to show palatalization but it is sometimes used sometimes now). For example, phonetically in Turkish there are 2 r sounds but there is only one r letter. Us, native speakers of Turkish, do these phonetic processes without thinking.
evet ama bi ingilizce kadar saçma değil
güzel noktaya değinmişsin. üç r bu arada: ''araba, rüzgar, bir'' tabi bunlar allaphone oldukları için biraz farklı, harf ile gösterilmek zorunda değiller.
nasıl allophone'lar? "araba"daki r evet farklı, ama "rüzgar" ve "bir" aynı gibi, ikisi de arkasında hafif "ş" sesi olan r'ler
2:25 I am Turkish but you said "Lütfen" better than me :D
Lütfeni de mi ondan kötü söylüyorsunuz abartmayın isterseniz :D?
You guys are great together! Learning and having fun... brilliant!
En doğru telaffuz ettiği sözcük "lütfen" idi. Çok başarılı. Ve Kenya'yı, çok sevim, çok sıcak kanlı, sevimli birisi, ses tonu falan da çok güzel. Bence Kenya çok iyi jazz şarkıları söyleyebilir. :) Kızı çok sevdim ve izlerken çokça kez güldüm. Özellikle İngilizce'nin bize göre ters olup, onlara göre de bizim dilimizin ters olması olayına çok güldüm nedense. :) Abone oldum :)
Turkish is such a beautiful language, i learned abit through watching and listening and it could be confusing
It really is so interesting, right?? I hope this video helped you a bit.

If you learn English, German or French, it will be nothing surprising for those guys, because they are used to it. But if you learn Turkish, you will always have friends, they will welcome you all over the world. Turkish people are nice people with great spirit - they will never let you down.
Just learn it!

She sounds like them German girls that come Turkey and speak Turkish fluently but with the accent , it's cute
Well, as long as it's cute, I'm ok with it. Haha! There is definitely no way I could master the Turkish accent in my lifetime!
I dont think my accent is cute tho. I do have a really thick German accent when i speak turkish 🤣👏
Speaking fluently and understandably is the most important thing. I find that people rarely find their accents cute but locals of other countries often do.
I would say I don't have one, but a friend once said I pronounce the end longer then normal, so I guess I have one
Both of you are extremly gorgeous!
Oh, wow! Thank you!

Well please be careful to say it carefully bc if you say it to a turkish person, Turkish person will understand wrong bc "taşakar" its like a bad word to us
