OMG I appeared on a Chad's video! woohooo! Just made it to the house, thank you both Chad and Austin for having me over! loved every minute! Next time remind me to take some left handle baitcasters!!!!!! lol
I kinda like the RVR myself. I'm like 10 yrs behind going to pick up a 2025 Native Propel 10 LTE in April ( before the Knuklhed series). The XTR has set the standard for a motorized able "fishing kayak". Like a Nucanoe but in the right direction. Chad ,there's nothing wrong with your mic or placement. Keep putting videos out
I love the concept of the XTR 130 with the tandem capability. I fish primarily offshore from a beach launch and do not go out in anything over 2' seas. Would the XTR130 be a good platform for tandem offshore? Thanks
The only problem I would see is surf launching and getting through the breaks with 2 people and are you going tandem with a small child or trying to go with another adult??
Nice video Chad, thanks for the info, I'm rigging my XTR now, haven't even had a chance to get on the water yet. Question, I know you complained about the molded battery compartment behind where the Black pack sits. I noticed you have yours, now over that area, what did you do?
I ended up extending the two front rods holder and that solved the problem. I have a short video on my instagram @kayakbassfishing explaining it. I will be doing an updated rigging and outfitting video here soon.
Well, I’m very confident in paddling in rough seas (and lakes) and have a lot of confidence. So, personally I would rather be in the PWR 129. That being said, if I had to pick the boat for an inexperienced kayak angler to be in at the same time, I would prefer they were in the XTR if it were motorized.
All of them are currently in development by both Big Adventures and Ketch. Gonna check with One Objective to see what their timeline is for accessories.
Can’t wait to see the full rig vid of the XTR. Curious to see how u were able to put ur blackpak pro over the battery (lip) compartment behind the tank well.
The Jackson has the pedals on the rails with the seat on one model, and everybody seems to like the Old Town kayaks. I just worry about being too short.
Hi, Mr. Hoover. I need some advice. I live in NE Alabama and I can only afford one kayak for all-around use. I like creeks, rivers, and lakes. Also, I want to fish. I’m an older woman and I’m short (5’2”), so I need to be able to reach the pedals comfortably. I have trouble getting up and down out of the seat. Any recommendations? Thanks!
How far are you from Huntsville, Alabama? The reason I ask is because I currently have one of each kayak I would recommend and you could try out all them to help narrow down your choices??
What kind of speeds are you seeing on the XTR? I've had an autopilot since their release and like many others i want more speed. For efficiency reasons, 80% throttle on ap120 fully rigged gets me from spot to spot at 3.6 on average. im buying a second kayak, xi3 up front to maintain gps lock but with nk300 on rear for speed. in my humble opinion there are really only a couple platforms that make this setup easy when thinking about battery placement and factory mounting plates. the XTR is at the top of my list but im worried it might not perform as well as some of the other options.
It’s not just a possibility any more. The parent company of Motorguide shut them down completely and they will be making all future motors under the LOWRANCE brand
I’m in Anniston but I’m familiar with Huntsville. I could come to Huntsville. Were you thinking about Jackson or Old Town? Just curious. Thanks for answering!
I always wondering what you guys gonna do if you accidentally flip those big heavy kayak with full gear. Seem everyone tried to avoid that question. Can you make a demonstration video on how you gonna deal with that?
I’ve done a video before that demonstrates this and the process will work with any kayak on the market. I will be doing an updated video soon and will use the XTR to further demonstrate this.
Where do you get the side holders for the rods on shown this kayak? I have a Basshunter EX that I pond hop with, and those are what I've been looking for. 🍺🎣
The ones in the video come with the XTR but if you’re needing horizontal side storage Yak Attack also makes one similar called the SideStage, comes in three mounting options.
Im having trouble picking a kayak for south Louisiana inshore fishing. Lake Pontchartrain, bays and marsh areas. Am set on Bonafied and really looking towards the XTR. Would this be the best choice for the type of fishing I do?
I think so. The PWR would not be a bad choice either, but I think the XTR is ideal for inshore flats fishing and near shore fishing in saltwater. It may even be great for offshore, but I haven’t tested it in that environment yet, so I can’t speculate about its performance there, but I intend to find out as soon as I can.
Hi Chad, new subscriber here. You have convinced me to take a look at theXTR 130. I saw a short clip you made where you were in the XTR 130 and you were steering with a foot pedal setup which I think was connected to your rear motor. Can you share the setup you have to steer the XTR 130 with your feet instead of just using pedals as a place to rest your feet? Thanks for your videos as you have made a great impact on my choice of a new boat for the spring.
It’s the same steering setup for all BONAFIDE kayaks. It’s the steering kit that was designed for the SS/RVR and here is the link to it. bonafidefishing.com/products/ss-rvr-steering-kit?_pos=1&_psq=steering&_ss=e&_v=1.0
Mic has got to go-not on the hat or holding it! Thanks for the comparison between the PWR and the XTR kayaks. Yes, people, they are kayaks, and yes, a kayak is a boat. When I am ready for the jump to motorized, it will be one of those 2 rigs.
Although I don't mind this one being used I still think there should be a line drawn at some point for tournaments. Tons of different ways that could be done. Maybe even a limit to total wattage limit for all batteries on the kayak.
Mic has to go…. Quick question. In your pros and cons video you mentioned you wished the tank well on the XTR went all the way back without the battery compartment. In this video it looks like you have your backpack sitting all the way back in the tank well. Is it just on top of the battery compartment or am i not seeing it right? Thank you again.
Can you opine on whether or not a new Xi3 is coming from Lowrance? Right now it seems the only option for a 36” shaft trolling motor is the powerpole (which i am considering for the XTR) but wonder if you think it will Have a competitor soon?
As far as I know, they announced that they will be offering replacements for all Motorguide products through the LOWRANCE brand, but there is no indication as to when those products will be available and what the product mix will look like.
I can also only speculate or assume that based on the popularity of the Xi3 (especially among kayak anglers) that there will be something comparable in capabilities, configuration and price point.
I love that new yak but I couldn’t buy then a motor and wires and all that. I did on the other hand get a pretty good deal on an old town AP 120 so I’ll use that for a few years. On the mic I’d rather it be on a hat than in a hand. On the shirt is fine as long as there isn’t stuff rubbing against it.
I would say yes to it gotta go but what I’d be worried about is if you put it on your shirt or life jacket I’d be worried about accidentally hitting it and falls off with out you knowing if it’s in your hat you could potentially feel it moving off your hat or notice it but whatever make the audio the best is what I would do !
That’s a negative on clippin the mic to the hat, but I must say that DJI mic has really good audio. I’m liking the XTR more every time I see it. Might have to jump from the Titan X over to the XTR lol
Might as well clip to your nose 🤣😂🤣😂 Shirt collar . Thanks for sharing. I will buy the XTR in the near future (Will need a trailer, that’s for sure. 😎🤙
Probably not what you want to hear, but doesn’t bother me where the mic is located as long as it’s not in an area that has muffled audio or constant “bumping the mic” sound.😂
For an interview, a microphone should be positioned close to the person's mouth, typically around the chin area, angled slightly upwards, aiming to capture their voice clearly while minimizing background noise, so I vote for mic to be below the chin.
I think the biggest difference is that the XTR comes with pretty much everything on it. The NuCanoe Unlimited 12 is a great platform, but all of the add ons are not cheap and they also add weight, so by the time you get them both to the point where most people fish them fully setup, they are about the same weight and probably pretty close to the same cost. If you aren’t going to do any of the add ons, the NuCanoe is a better value based on your initial point. On the surface they look like similar watercraft but they are really vastly different watercraft. I will see what I can do to put together a side by side video
@@ChadHooverFishing you’re right. I tested both the PWR and the unlimited a few months ago and ultimately ended up with the unlimited. The gear pod being an all in 1 for my LiveScope setup plus the Nucanoe foot steer rudder was much better than the Bonafide. For what it’s worth I transport with a 5ft bed and bed extender, and it’s definitely a very heavy setup loaded out. I’ve resorted to backing down boat ramps and dumping it into the water straight from my truck bed(which I know I could do with the XTR as well). Overall very happy with my unlimited, but am interested in how the XTR stacks up. Thanks for the videos👍🏻
Not sure where you got that info. It was behind because of the hurricane, but now it is available and has sold out almost as soon as they have become available. Also, pre-orders are the best that most retailers have experienced.

I don't care where the mic is as long as the audio is good and consistent. The worst is when volume keeps going up and down in a video.
I love that the XTR has rod trays on each side. I love having my rods horizontal. And the seat! Love that seat upright like that!
Excellent video. Glad the videos are starting to come back out again. Definitely like the.
Horizontal rod storage option..
