- I test two different fabric protectants. Jay lenos Garage Fabric Shield and Scotchgard automotive. I have never been a fan of these types of products.
I've always had real good luck with Gtechniq Smart Fabric. It has a strong chemical smell at first, but it does work! Strong water resistance after a couple of coats and the water seems to pool up on top of the fabric much better than shown here. I also rub the product into the fabric well similar to the way you did it also, first in one direction, second in the other direction for even fabric coverage but I just simply use my hand rather than a brush (wearing nitrile gloves of course) to rub in the product. The second coat I just mist on and let dry. I currently have CarPro Fabric (the newest version 2.0) but I haven't used it yet to compare it to Gtechniq but supposedly it has quite a bit less of the chemical smell but still has the high resistance to liquids soaking in.
might be worth a try! Ive always been skeptical of fabric protectants.
@@untappeddetails3257 Yes, of all the ones I have used over the 40+ years I have been detailing my vehicles and using fabric protectants, Gtecniq and CarPro actually did what they were supposed to do better than most. While, maybe not 95% water resistant, it does make it a LOT easier to clean up the next time around, quick clean ups are easier for sure, and it seems to help preserve the fabric better than not doing anything at all. Of course, I think the very best way to "preserve" fabrics/carpets if you will is just keeping them as clean as possible and well vacuumed all the time and that really does the most. Some people also subscribed to not eating or drinking anything at all in their vehicles but I can't do that. If I do drink or eat anything in the vehicle, I do tend to immediately quick clean the interior as soon as I get home with a quick vac and wipe down of the interior which only takes about 5 or 10 minutes top and get's the vehicle right back in pristine condition. I have a low mileage 370Z that is ten years old and it literally still smells brand new inside just by using those simple techniques.
They both work well on canvas tops and tannu covers for trucks...not really sure anything would work on regular rugs..but good video buddy
Black carpet is a bad example but still worth watching.
Unfortunately its the only color in my cads haha
lol, understood
Wish I saw this before buying four cans. Smells terrible.
