As a data analyst actively preparing for interviews, I find this channel really helpful! I have one question about behavioral questions-sometimes I just don't have the experience yet for certain questions (e.g., "Tell me about a time when you had competing priorities"). I know I could answer it as you show in the video if I don't have a real story to share, but I learned that it might not be enough because it shows that my experience doesn't have the complexity and depth the hiring manager is looking for. Wondering what's your thoughts on this, thanks!

in this case, it's a balance between applying to jobs that are actually the right fit for you (i.e. don't have high expectations about stakeholder experience, for example) and being able to learn about what's expected in these answers through research and reflecting on past experiences.
it's of course best if you can give a very relevant example / full response showing your experience. the next best option is to give a response showing your thought process for how you would work through the situation (chatgpt is helpful here), and if you keep bumping into these questions where you don't have relevant experience, it means you should start to think more creatively about getting this experience through volunteer opportunities, freelance work, or even in your current job.

i like this cut to the chase answer, no blabbering about intereviewer perspective bla bla bla, and not giving us any sample answers (or only giving us super basic sample answers)

Hi! Christine, I am training for my interviews and I took a moment to answer your question number2.
Answer to question two. I would write them an email. "Thinking twice" Upon my examination on my previous delivery, I found something that needs to be updated. I apologize having to take a step back before moving forward. I would like to take the opportunity to carefully reexamine the project from a distance from head to toe, pinching my eyes together and then look further ahead before moving on, addressing this foreseen unforeseen circumstances. It will only take a few moment. This process is clinical for quality delivery.

Subject: Important Update on "Think twice"
      Dear Christine,
Upon a recent review of the analysis delivered on 18 July 2024, I discovered an error that needs to be corrected. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and am committed to resolving this swiftly.
I am currently reexamining the data and will provide an updated analysis as soon as possible. This process is essential to ensure the accuracy and quality of our work.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
      Best regards,
      Aashish Gurung

good start - though i'd say this is a bit ambiguous and can lead stakeholders to being more worried than assured. it's better to get a more specific understanding of what the error is, so that you can say something like "this error impacted about ___% of the previously stated metrics". rather than "i found an error, not sure what it is exactly yet, but will keep you updated".

I wish I had this video two weeks ago. I got my only Data Analyst interview in two years, and I could have made such better impression if I had this guide. Maybe I'll be able to do it in my next interview in 2026.

i'll be posting more videos soon on value-driven networking, which will help you get more interviews (many of my students get interviews within days using this approach). so...start prepping for another interview sooner than 2026 ;)

@@christinejiangdata Thank you! My current networking is not working at all. I am currently in semi regular contact with some individuals from some target companies, so referrals can be more organic if they do hire in the future. But in the meantime, while I'm unemployed, I keep becoming more unemployable.

Hi, loving the content, hope this channel does really well. Could you guide on data science, ML roles (roadmap, projects n all). I understand that python is more important there but still puzzled about personal vs portfolio projects, thanks.

Super helpful to have the comparison of so-so responses and the stand-out responses. I have an interview coming up on Monday, so the tips from this video are very helpful
