Great! The aperture (camera lens) and soft idea is similar to the way I teach my Casual Double High C method. Lots of soft controlled practice. Thanks!
I've ordered a rotary valve piccolo, not too expensive but expensive enough to be more than a toy. I have since the nineties a Selmer piccolo but I can't do much with it since it bites in my lips like hell. It has way too much resistance so that finding a compatible mouthpiece is almost impossible; hope the rotary will be more free blowing.
Thanks, Jack, I'm going to try some of this. I've been operating under the old model of "lots of air," but something about that always seemed wrong with the picc.
Awesome vid. But for now. I think i’ll first try to unlock my upper ranges on my Bb Cornet 😂 btw i immediately have a question. I have heard people play blazing high notes on a Bb Trumpet. Even higher than those in this video. So is it possible to play like a piccolo on a normal Bb Trumpet? Or on a Bb Cornet what i have? I think it could. But only a short period of time. Bc it would be a strain on your lips and lungs to play so high haha.
Trumpet Tune and Air. Trumpet Tune. By Jeremiah Clarke. (Bflat picc) There are a couple of different versions out there. The Hallejujiah Chorus on A picc. Nice transposition on A piccolo. Up on minor 3rd is F major. Lays nicely on the fingers.
Lovely playing by a lovely man!
