      Robin please make more reviews on good apps for those languages! How did you learn Chinese best? I’m totally new to that and think characters are super hard and impossible to learn! Japanese to me might be a bit easier and I know the basics thus far :)

    I don't know if it's mean something to you Robin or not, but you effect my life in a wonderful way, I may won't be able to return your favor back but I can say one thing (thanks!)

      @@kofimcc5794 I agree! I think the pandemic has given us all a taste of depression but seeing Robin’s cup of coffee and a smile truly makes a difference--I know I can take a deep breath and just focus on listening about language learning, and ignore everything else for awhile.
      I hope it doesn’t make you feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, @Robin MacPherson! We’re all here rooting for you and loving how you understand our geeky language group needs a sense of community.
      Some days, you’d rather cut your arm off that get in front of the camera, I know (I’ve filmed some of my presentations before). We get it. And we thank you all the more. 🙏🏽❤️

      I don't learn Chinese/Japanese but I watched and enjoyed the video anyway because it is just delightful to listen to you! :)

    I agree! I use skritter to teach online chinese class for high level students. While we chatting, at the same time i create vocab decks for student. Not only they can practice chatting, but also they have skritter to practice writing and memorize new words with flashcards

    Big Skritter fan here! 🙋‍♀️I've been using Skritter to learn Chinese since early 2011, before they even had an app. Back in the day, I bought a stylus and drawing pad for the sole purpose of using Skritter on my computer. You're right that creating decks is incredibly easy. I think I've been spoiled by Skritter in this regard, as the few times I've tried to create decks in other apps I've quickly gotten frustrated and given up. To this day, Chinese is the only language I use flashcards for.

    I've been using Scritter to study Chinese. I didn't realize that I could create my own deck. Thanks for that. One thing that Scritter does with reviews is that they7 not only let you pick the decks to review and the specific types of cards to review, but the also let you choose the number of cards to review. I have found that I do better if I choose 10 or 20, because you can't finish the review (unless you quit) until you have answered all the cards correctly. If you choose to review 100 cards and are just learning some the the words, you will make lots of mistakes, and it will take forever to finish the review. Small chunks is better.

    Hello Robin. How do you highlight and copy text off of your screen to paste phrases in Notion? Does it only work if you are using that specific software? Thanks!

    Is there an app that builds practice sentences from your learned words in Skritter?
    Possibly an app that takes your learned words and speaks them aloud prompting you to write them down.
    I'd like to practice handwriting but Skritter is just individual words.

    Thanks for the review, but the coupon has expired, all I want is to see the list of decks for japanese, is there a way to do that without subscribing?

    Skritter is like the modern take of a good Chinese learning app companion with a subscription model, but I think the only true app you need is pleco professional edition.

    Is Skritter worth it for Cantonese as well? Nobody ever talks about it in detail.

    • @RobinMacPhersonFilms
      @RobinMacPhersonFilms  Рік тому +1

      I think for me I would say it’s probably not worth it since there isn’t any specific Cantonese support. I suppose it be useful just for learning characters in isolation if you really don’t have any other resource for that 🤔 But the Mandarin pronunciation of everything might be distracting. I think considering you’d have to pay to use it, this would make it not worth it in my opinion. I didn’t discuss it because it’s not supported or marketed at all by Skritter.
      I hope that’s helpful!
