Gustav Barnard, as a South African, you have many reasons to smile when it involves the musical talent that the country produces. My first experience was more than 50 years ago when I first heard Miriam Makeba with the Click Song and Pata Pata. In the 80s, I was taken by Johnny Clegg’s Scatterlings Of Africa. I kept hearing it on a local radio station but they never identified the group. It was months before I learned who did it. In recent years, I have discovered much wonderful music coming from SA, in all genres. You have a very fine Johannesburg Philharmonic for classical, and wonderful opera singers like Pretty Yende. I’ve discovered Karen Zoid, Refentse, Deon Groot; I could go on. And then there’s Elandre. What a voice! And his cover of Springsteen’s Tougher Than The Rest is better than the original, and that one is terrific. Since he does country music, I hope to see him one day at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. SA has wonderful choirs, so many. The best, of course, is Stellenbosch University Choir under Andre van der Merwe. Indodana brings my eyes to tears each time I hear it. Other university choirs are excellent as well. Even the Drakensberg Boys Choir’s Shosholoza is the best that I’ve heard. Other choirs like Cape Town Youth Choir and Vox Chamber Choir are superb. There are many more. I could go on but I think you get my point. I don’t care for jazz but I’m sure that SA has many excellent musicians. So, SA can be very proud of its musical talent and, hopefully, the rest of the world will get to experience what they have to offer. I also love Elandré's music. I've been a fan of his since I found him on Facebook, along with the Krone band - even though here in Mexico they don't seem to know him.
I love his music, and his voice is manly, sexy, deep and expressive and very beautiful. I actually love this song!!! And many more (both pop and country).

Krone isn't a band, but a group of Afrikaans artists putting a show on together. They often do medleys, and sing big hits. It's very similar to the "Afrikaans is Groot" show we have here. (I'm South African, reside in Jo'burg)

As a dutch person this is such a trip lol. I feel like i'm so close to fully understanding it, and i some parts of sentences are the same as dutch. fun little story:
i was listening to "Ugly Boy" (by Die Antwoord) and my friend asked what I was listening to, and I said something along the lines of "A South African artist", and she goes "OMG!! I KNOW A LITTLE AFRIKAANS!!" and so then we were looking at some South African songs she knows, and we stumbled upon this MASTERPIECE on our bus ride home, ( which neither of us had heard before ), and we both are obsessed with it now, it's such a good song!!

Y además de encantarme tu música, voz e interpretación, también me encanta cada una de las letras de cada una de tus canciones (y de algunos covers que interpretas super bien). Cada canción cuenta una historia diferente, y sus letras son profundas y denotan mucha sensibilidad, pasión y amor.💓
