In Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Mexico, you don't get additional time when you try to escape from prison, as they see the search for freedom as a basic human need. As long as you don't commit crimes while doing it like taking down guards or taking people hostage, you're fine.
Fun fact: If you break out in Germany and do not commit a crime, you will not get an extra penalty. Is anchored in the penal code under "urge for freedom".
In California, if you don't have any violent charges and in jail, they tosed the weed conviction and freed people. If they had a violent charge they still had to serve that but had their time reduced because the weed charges would be dropped. Not sure if other states are doing that.
Weed is definitely not legalized everywhere in America. I think most states have some form of Medical marijuana. But so many states, including mine, stigmatize it to the max and focus on CBD like it's the same thing. We can't just be simple and make THC legal on the federal level, including cultivation and recreational use over age 21.
In the U.S. I'm pretty sure that when someone is sentenced to 30 years, he or she with "good time" credits" will actually serve much less than the original sentence. But in the People's Republic of China, I suspect that if they give you 30 years, it's 30 years.
Yeah it's like that in the US but depends on the state, every state has different rules and laws. It's actually crazy with all the rules and laws it's almost like each state is a completely different country.
i think they picked one of the low level guards and gave him a slap on the wrist. like 3 month suspension or something...just so powers that be can claim they did something
From my understanding, that much Marijuana is still a big crime. They are still going after dealers and distributors pretty hard. But in my state they expunged all Marijuana possession for personal use, from people's records. I cant say for sure because laws vary from state to state.
If you get caught in rural Texas, Georgia or a dozen other states, trying to sell one thousand kilos of weed, you will go to prison for a very long time. Some states it's still very illegal.
I wish weed was legal everywhere in America. In backwords, Nebraska, we have it “decriminalized” but not legal medically or medicinally. and from what I know, which may not be right, only really progressive places in the u.s. have overturned weed convictions and there may be a process to do.
