Having a life instead of working it away to buy more stuff and taking care of myself and my family instead of things was the mindshift I needed.... this is why minimalism started to resonate with me.😊
❤ Today I Decluttered some fall decor and an entire large bin of Christmas. I have one large bin of Christmas that I am not sure about. If I decide not to use the items in that bin, it will go as well. The other bins I have if I don’t use the items they will go. I decided to do this today so I can donate it to a charity shop for someone else to enjoy for the holidays.❤❤❤ Also a good day to do this since in my area we are under a heat advisory felt like 111° here.
I find wearing some of my clothes is out of pure desperation. I’m so tired of wearing the same summer clothes for the last few years. I gained 20 lbs back after a 96 lb weight loss. I decluttered many of my fat clothes but have been struggling for about a month to get back down those 20 lbs. If I can’t do it by next summer then I will get rid of the smaller clothes. So far it has been a slow go. I do have some things I just don’t know what to do with and I need to take a hard stance. I just can’t get into it.!Help!😮
Honestly, I hear you! That's why I finally bit the bullet and tried trainwell.. I have never done anything like that before but I gained 10 lbs back from the 60 I had lost and I just am having a hard time doing it on my own.. If the smaller clothes motivate you to keep going leave some of them out, but more often for me they were not motivational just depressing and when I do lose the weight I might want to get a few new things to celebrate 😍 Good Luck my friend ❤️❤️
I can relate with you on this one! I’ve also gained weight and every time I look at these clothes, it makes me feel worse… so what I’m doing right now is try on the clothes . If they don’t fit comfortably, I’ll put them in a bin and then if they don’t fit after a while, then they will go to a thrift store for some one else to enjoy it ☺️🌻 I’m not giving up on trying to lose those pounds but I’m not going to stress over it!
❤ Thanks for the advice. On another note could you possibly do a video on how to stay slim as you are. I have put on weight and am finding it difficult 😕 to decide to change my habits as I enjoy food too much. I am in a bit of a hole on this one. PS - I am making progress with decluttering & keeping possession under control. 😊 Thanks 👍
That’s awesome that your making progress 😍 I am definitely not a doctor and all of our bodies metabolism are so different but for me when I wanted to lose the baby weight (60lbs) I just started intermittent fasting I know people have different opinions on it but it really helped me to eat less but keep eating what I like ❤️❤️
I'm trying to start a 30 day challenge of no buy in a few days and prep for it. I already failed by going to the store for some home things that were planned but not a necessity. Any tips on how to talk ourselves from going into stores or drive throughs? I've been getting alot of dopamine hits with thrift store and marketplave finds and only get things that bring joy and minimal but I want to take a break and focus on enjoying us who live in these walls now that it's decluttered and homey and stop wasting so much energy and time searching for physical things to look for positive feelings
Honestly what helped me in the beginning was cutting it off cold turkey. I get rid of Facebook so I couldn’t look at marketplace and I stuck to grocery stores instead of those quick runs into target.. thrift stores were the hardest for me because I Love them! But I had to have a running mental list if I went in one and if it wasn’t perfect it was a no ❤️❤️ thanks for sharing your journey with us! It is so relatable ❤️❤️
Sometimes, the pull to stop in for a quick look at the thrift store is SO hard to resist!!! I'm with you! It sounds really silly, but I find it helpful to just tell myself "there is nothing there for you today" and leave it at that as I drive past. It has actually been super effective for me (I also use that line for myself when I am about to mindlessly pick up my phone) Another helpful thing has been to order online with free shipping most of my household goods (soap, TP, diapers, etc) because it helps me avoid the delightful deals i don't need at Target or other stores. It has become surprisingly pleasant to open a delivery of only necessary consumables 🙈
@minimalease I keep redownloading Facebook and my husband changed my password but now I've logged in so much with my number that it auto logs in when I re download LOL :( And I told myself no stores yet impulse went into Walmart cause I decided to paint my son's room last minute. Been going into all kinds of stores this month and it's hard to drive home or stay home
@rebecca6452 with thrift stores I'm really good at only grabbing on or two things after thinking hard and being more sure but my issue is going too often. I'm good on everything now so I need to stop going yet my mind is always "more" you know. And yeah I keep saying I'll do curb pick up for my groceries and only 1x a week but I've been to my stores like 4x this week already grabbing stuff I forgot or craved or bored instead of napping or planning :/
What also helps me is: going through your things. If you’re tempted to buy new clothes - clean your closet, do the laundry, restyle some old pieces. If you’re craving some new foods - clean the fridge and pantry…you get the idea! Sometimes the new is the well forgotten old stuff. Also watch what you consume and how you react to it. If I watch creators/videos that make me wanna go get something new - unfollow!
8:15 you said having less clothes will be less laundry, isn't it the opposite as less clothes means you will run out of clean clothes faster and would need to do laundry more often than if you had more clothes
that's what I used to think too! I have the perfect amount of clothes now where I am not washing a ton of extras that got tossed on the ground in my search for what I wanted to wear. No more massive piles of laundry and me putting it off way too long hahaha now I do laundry once a week and I have learned to embrace wearing my pants more then once before I wash them (if there's no stains) This is just my experience but It really works for me
