I am a lifelong 1911 fan, so I'm very accustomed to a hammer fired, DA/SA trigger. I've owned Para, Sig, Springfield, and Kimber. Out of all of those hammer fired weapons, I love and value my HK P30 (.40 S&W) above them all. The gun feels like it was tailor made for my hand. Yeah, they're a little pricey, but I trust my life to this gun, so I'm willing to pay that extra. Best shooting gun I've ever had, can't imagine not having it. Thanks for the video Hickok45, we HK owners appreciate it!

Traded a PPQ for a P30 and I'm very happy with the deal. The trigger is just fine by me, in fact I quite like it. Trigger snobs and range rats just like to complain. This is a combat pistol just like the Sig P226, which I don't hear Navy Seals complaining about...

  • @relivingnightmares814

I've got the p30 and the p30sk. Had so many other options but once I put in my hand it was sold. The ergonomics and feel of this gun are as you said yourself.... Like a glove. I personally love the trigger that everyone complains about. It's safe in my holster but smooth to shoot. I love the paddle release which was new to me but now I wouldn't have it any other way. The sights are beautiful and really give you a good eye on your target. My p30sk came with upgraded night sights which I love as well but the standard p30 sights if you hit them with a light glow like lightning bugs in the dark. This gun was never on my list and not even an option I was looking into getting at the time. But the feel once it's in your is next to none. All the haters can complain all they want but I'd pay the extra couple hundred again anytime. I trust mine and my families life to this gun knowing the quality behind the name. Sure a Glock or sig shoots as nice but the ergonomics along with the equal ability to be on target again and again as you've shown leaves the competition in the dust. It's not your regular feel once you have one in your hand. I stand by the p30 whole heartedly. But I do agree with some nay sayers because it is a bit over priced, but still worth every penny. Enjoy my friends.

LEM trigger eliminates decocker and DA/SA pull. Crisp, 1911 type break after takeup.

I have the P30LS 40 S&W. The trigger is very nice, but the reset is a tad bit longer in comparison a Sig 226. I compare the Sig to the HK because it's in the same price/quality range. There is really no problem with the amount of reset once you get used to it. As Hickok45 stated, it is smooth with a clean break.
HK uses canon grade steel for their barrels, and they have full chamber support; a good thing for those who reload. I think the quality and attention to detail that goes into these guns justifies the high price tag.

H&K is my favorite gun company. The USP line is amongst the best there is when it comes to .45 besides the 1911. The P30 is a under-rated pistol. It just fits right in the hand. Great job hickok45. You did a great review as always.

Hi I own a new HK P30 V3 for about a year. I also own 2 CZ 75’s full size and compacts. I shoot the CZ’s very well, but an working to shoot the HK just as well. Regardless it is a fine firearm, well made in every respect. A “get home gun”

  • @f0xmuld3r
    @f0xmuld3r 13 років тому +1

@Ralastar I own this gun (well, a P30L to be exact) and it only takes 25 rounds to break it in. When I bought this gun I had 2 stove pipes wthe the first 2 mags, after that I never had any jams, stoveipes or any kind of trouble. And I'm a good 3800 rounds further down the road.

  • @assoverteakettle

It takes someone with a lot of experience like hickok45 to know a good trigger. Take his word for it. There are so many misconceptions about the P30 trigger. People who think it has too much creep. But they are confusing take up with creep. The single action take up is also a form of safety or else the trigger could pull accidentally with an adrenalin filled police officer's finger on it. I'd like to see a review of the LEM trigger version tho' to see how it compares to striker fires.

  • @MrMajicCity1

That is an HK V3 DA/SA trigger. It has sights that need to be charged with a flashlight. 15 rd mags. They make a dao lem and a light lem model. Also they have long slide versions and ones with manual safteys. Its a great gun

  • @SFRabie

@hickok45 Perhaps you'd like the LEM trigger system that H&K came out with. this the same trigger weight for first shot as it is for all the follow up shots. It's technically a DAO trigger, but after the 1st shot the reset is VERY short and follow up shots come very quick.

  • @hickok45

@theKGB65, Yeah, that's pretty cool. Like even professional grade cameras, it's a little slow to auto focus at times, depending on the background and movement, but it gives some gorgeous views of things.

When I was looking to purchase my first handgun I checked out the H&K P30 and "Fits like a glove" were my exact words. It probably has the best ergonomics of any of the guns I was interested in buying. The Sig P226 was really sweet as well. I decided to go with the Glock 19 in the end because of relatively low price and its reputation for being a reliable shooter. But if the P30 were about 350 dollars cheaper I might have come home with it instead.

Love HK's Ever tried a P7? Not only is it striker fired but the barrel does not tilt for ejection and chambering. Its directly mounted to the frame and has a very low bore axis. VERY accurate. Squeeze cocker takes some getting used to but it is a very good looking good shooting gun.

@MrBladeDude , Same trigger pull from the hoster to the last shot, and the trigger break is usually further forward for me. Some double actions don't break until the trigger is back almost against the frame. My large hands don't like that.

I enjoy your gun reviews, especially this one for the HK P30. If possible, I believe many HK users considering a smaller, concealed carry pistol would be interested in your review of the HK P30SK V1 with the LEM trigger. This pistol has a DAO trigger, but it uses a pre-cocked hammer similar to a striker fired gun. The P30SK is the size of a Glock 26, and we all know that you like shooting smaller pistols. Your evaluation of the V1 LEM trigger would be insightful...please give it consideration. Again, thanks for the great gun reviews.

Great video . In general you need to get used to H&Ks for a little bit and your shooting will even be more accurate. I cant imaging what you could do with that pistol after you had 1000 rds through it. Also with the Paddle mag release if your thumb is not comfortable reaching the mag release you can use your middle finger on your right hand while the trigger finger is on the frame. Some experts prefer that method For H&K and the Walthers. Both methods work great with practice. Please do more H&K

I've had an HK P30 for the past year, you can't beat the grip and the single action trigger is great (when not compared to a 1911). What almost killed the P30 for me was the double action trigger, it's absolutely atrocious. The rest of the gun is a great package.

They do have a "LEM" DAO trigger that feels quite similar (but lighter) than a standard Glock trigger. Only difference with a pure striker fired trigger is you do not need to cock the gun to fire again on a bad primer (I don't think I would anyway, I'd just eject it but to each 'is own I guess).

I was just at the local gun shop yesterday, and saw a P30 with a Thumb safety.
So you can have it Cocked and Locked like a 1911 (for that sweet single action
pull) Or keep it Double action into single action.
Very cool, so I thought i'd give you the heads up since you enjoy that single action
    so much !

Youre a really good shooter. Pistol wise, Ive only fired the P30 and the Glock 17. Police and army standard issues respectively. As I can recall I did shoot better with the Glock, but Ive might have been a better shooter when I used the Glock. 5 years spread between the 2. And as I remember I also thought the slider is more prone to be in the way on the P30, but this also is shooter dependant I guess. Excellent trigger on the P30 though.
