I think I prefer this format of review when compared to the lowest to highest ranking format just because as a viewer I don’t know what rating to expect for each book that comes up, and it makes it more fun 😊
I read When Among Crows based on your glowing review, and I also really liked it. I agree the synopsis is very spoilery, I am glad you pointed that out!
The format is good either way. You don’t need a gimmick in that regard as far as I’m concerned. I’m reading Burned by Benedict Jacka, and I’m loving these books! I’m tying to figure out why these books are 4 and 5 stars for me and 3 and 4 for you… do they just suffer as urban fantasy when compared to Jim Butcher? I guess when compared to the world building, character development, and plot lines it is scaled back a little… But is that enough? Is it because Alex has no romantic interests? (At least as far as I’ve gotten.) I will admit, he does kick it up a notch with his new series. But the Alex series so fun and so easy to read, they are like for me what the Murderbot books are for you. I do wonder if and when you reread them if you will rate them higher.
🦩I liked the Ruthless Elimination of Hurry -i have it 5 ⭐ I'm now going through to read everything else that John Comer has written. I like your videos by rank better than by order you read them.

I think for the Alex Verus books, the characters and plotlines just didn't quite click for me *shrug*. Maybe I would like them more on a reread
lol just makes me feel even more secure in my decision to NOT read the familiar 😂
