i think Kindred's death animation is pretty dark. When Lamb collapses, Wolf doesn't hesitate to turn on his only lifelong friend and devour her soul. Since she herself represents a peaceful death, There is no one to bring her a one like she has to so many others. Instead she must endure a violent, painful demise as she is torn apart by the wolf, yet you could say to be devoured as prey is the fate of all lambs. How poetic.
When I read "What kindred could've been" i was intrigued because i thought kindred was pretty good, and was surprised someone would try to one up an already pretty good concept. Little did i know, the title meant it literally, and it was a video about how kindred littlerally could have turned out. Expectations subverted, clever title.
Sint Norbertusparochie I don’t think so. Pretty sure his soul is like trapped there. Karthus was just a dude that got heavily into death magic. Kindred is the literal representation of death. Lamb embodies a peaceful fate and wolf a violent one.
Oh how I love Kindred. I really like their background, they're interesting, and they've got cool gameplay. I just can't play them early game whatsoever and that's when you want to abuse them. At least they inspired the umbrella logo I've got for myself on all my personal productions.
Thanks Peter! These videos are a lot more difficult to make than my others, but it's definitely the most fun for me to make so I'm glad you enjoy it! :)
"There once was a pale man with dark hair who was very lonely.... he split himself in two" The design was scraped from kindred and became high noon jhin... hmm
Oh my god... this is actual quality content. Like, a continuous stream of thought, not jumping all over the place to try and "keep attention" but actually holding attention by staying on subject. Somewhere between good journalism or a documentary and a CGP grey video. Interesting and informative but not too long winded and without unnecessary extra content. God I didn't realize I was this starved for things that aren't that camera jumping around, ADD style bullshit. Man thank you. I'm definitely checking your other videos out. Jeremy, I can safely say that your channel deserves way more subs. You release daily videos that have visibly a lot of work put into them and a ton of information while keeping about something fun. I hope to see your channel grow more.
+fr0sty senpai They're also fake. A Rioter confirmed on Reddit that those concept images were not made by anybody at Riot. It's unfortunate, because a lot of what Jeremy was saying is based on fake concept art.
While we're on the topic of champion design, where do you apply for a community designed champion? I feel like the game could one or two of those, because some people have seriously neat ideas (for concepts at least).
Thanks a lot! I'm really fortunate that I got the chance to talk to Kindred's designer for this video, and I'm to do that again for future champions when I can!
You know... Kindred always has a special place in my heart, they led me to why I like playing league actually. To play an more aggresive and engaging adc but also plays passive at the same time is something I seriously enjoy. Ashame they become really irrelevant after the release of Kai'sa. It is pretty sad to me since they are of my favorite characters gameplay wise and in lore my absolute favourite.
Noticed every champion Wrekz comes up with is more a fable/mythologicl figure. Barum is more or less BeoWulf And Kindered is the angel of death. Both have a massive story about them getting met or whatever It be and Both are almost Folklore to the lands.
Rance Would say the same about Space dragon, mainly because he is what I like to call "lore rapes the lizard" I mean I never lore get turned on Its head this fast since Azir came out. That and Aurllion Sol feels slaped together playstyle wise. Like a Check list of things people want in a champion.
Mechanically or flavorfully? Heroes has two player heroes (cho'gall) and global (abathur), DotA has the ever famous invoker and meepo, flavor is debatable, depends on taste but she is a cool interpretation of death.
Dude, you have such a great niche covered in terms of LoL UA-cam channels. I'm always astounded at the amount of game knowledge you have. Keep up the good work!

by scythe meow doesnt mean those skins or champs where they dont even use them but just throw stuff either out of it or at the enemy, more like actually using that beautiful scythe that kindred drawing had and slashing people to bits
Thanks to everyone for watching the Kindred video! Because it hit 10K ratings I get to buy some Chinese Food! My choice was some yummy string bean chicken :P instagram.com/p/BEi18j6pn4g/?taken-by=gamingcurios&hl=en
I'm liking this new outro music. Very classy, it's like I went to an educational conference hosted in a hotel to learn about LoL stuff and am now walking out and passing the jazz lounge.
When Kindred first got teased (before knowing their in-game abilities and such) I was excited at the thought of another transforming champion with 6 abilities instead of the standard 3 abilities + ulti. I thought it would fit perfectly for their theme if you started off with - for example - Lamb, and your ulti would give you a whole new set of abilities as Wolf. It's not entirely a new concept to have in League of Legends as they've done it before with Jayce, Elise, and Nidalee.
hey jeremy, i was watching your video about the jhin-kindred correlation, and i wanted to share my own theory with you. i feel like jhin sees himself as the bringer of death, a kind of delusion that puts him above all else and makes him able to decide who dies and who lives. but really he's just a mortal murderer who doesn't get to choose. i think when jhin died, the gods punished him for his arrogance, by burdening him with the task jhin believed he was born to do all his life. this is where he became kindred, the actual bringer of life and death. not based on facts or anything, just my thoughts d:

I absolutely ADORE Kindred and their design and how much thought has been put through to create this champion. They are their own essential thing in the whole League lore: death. I think the idea is so unique, they would deserve their own kind of game. Listening to everything said here and seeing all the concept art, it blows my mind. I can't stop saying "Cool" or, "awesome" or anything like that. Kindred with scythe, wolf supposed to be the arrow, the W supposed to be a massive buff, and the ult being...THAT huge....And the concept art alone is just mind blowing for me. Thank you for making this video, I enjoyed every second of it. It was very interesting to learn all about their design history.
This just made me realize that Cho'Gath can have 40800 bonus health, plus items, plus base health. So if he's fed as all hell, he'd be unkillable unless you're a fed as hell kindred.
when kindred was released i was the only one that use it well. The reason was that i used to play vayne jg, and it has a lot of things in common. The music of Kindred was the best in lol in my opinion. The way of represent the wolf with cello and the lamb with the piano was amazing I think.
I've recently started playing Kindred jungler and they're so much fun. It sucks cause I get invaded A LOT but it feels good grabbing those marks and then tearing away at people.
Being sort of new to the rift, Kindred was one of the first champions I really got into, and was the first champion I got to mastery 5. I have to say, they are probably my favorite champ that I've played yet.
I am so happy you did this video on Kindred, thank you! They are my second favorite champions. They actually got me back into League XD I had stopped playing for, like, a year because I just lost interest. but like. I still watched the LoL channels UA-cam videos. THEN ONE DAY I SEE THE CHAMPION SPOTLIGHT FOR KINDRED AND I'M LIKE "Oh SHIIIT THESE GUYS LOOK LIT" so I got back into the game and yeah vwv yayyyy
At 10:35 there is some artwork that makes me think of what might've been a much cooler ultimate for kindred for where the two haves combine and for a short duration kindred becomes this ultra buffed wolf/land hybrid bringer of death.
I feel it would've been cool if wolf worked like an azir's statue that followed the target but would only go as far as your aa range, it could be a pretty cool concept and it could proc meele stuff like hydra
The skill shot ultimate shuld be really cool to actually see in the game cuz if you shuld hit it on the enemy marksmam right before a team fight it shuld be very rewarding "acording" to how hard it actually is top hit .
I'm a Kindred main and this is really cool.. Can you do "What Fizz could have been" or something with Fizz if you haven't done so? Fizz has always been my go to champion in Season 3 and would be amazing to see what his history would be like.. like did he even have Playful Trickster in his kit when they started developing it? How did they come up with the idea of making him untargetable because I believe he was the first champion to have a kit with intangibility.
Hey Jeremy, have you considered doing a "most thematically correct champions" video. I think it would be really cool to explore how riot has worked gameplay into characters. It's something I've spent a fair bit of time thinking about, and I'de love to hear your ideas.
Glad they eventually made High Noon Jihn! I love robot rowboys! Reminds me of Samurai Jack where they couldn't have him killing real people so all the enemies were robots.
Looking at the beginning concept art I kinda think lambs ultimate should have been swapping to wolf and being invincible or something like volleybear lol
in my opinion, kindred is one of the best ADR ive used, i play kindred as a combination of killer and support. but mostly my allies doesn't know what my ultimate can do to them at all, even the enemies sometimes, i even manage to fool them that the ultimate wont work on them. and wow, some of the concept art of kindred looks amazing, i hope they make a skin based on it.
kindred is currently my favorite jungler she is so fun to play and the character personallity or "soul" of the character is really cool and enjoyable to play with nice video :)
I really love all stories behind Kindred. I think it's a very good campion which reflects its peronality nearly perfectly in the game. The ideas were one by one awesome and I think she's a champion that deserves to be praised! But after all this, I'm still wondering... What could Aurelion Sol have been? (His actual gameplay let me down quite a bit, so I'd love an answer)
i liked the video, learned alot (honestly more so in the fact of jumping through walls with theyre dash, total face palm when i realized you could do that xD ), and seemed very well done. keep up the good work! earned a sub
It would be pretty cool if one of his abilities(his ult probably) fused both of the aspects togheter into a big guy but i guess that would diverge too much from the core concept of duality of Kindred.
The original ultimate for the cyborg cowboy sounds like the new ultimate of Urgot. It's amazing that Riot still kept that in the bag for all this time.
Kindred are the first champion I was ever truly excited for as soon as they were announced. To this day, through hell or high water, they continue to be my top jungler and secondary overall champ. Their kit is FUN. Their design is AMAZING. Their voices are PERFECT. And nothing about them really feels overpowered or unbalanceable.
There was actually a concept art by a player in forums that a riot employee took interest in before kindred was even close to being released. It had a "yin and yang" concept along with the same color scheme as the current kindred. This champion idea essentially came from a player. I can't seem to find it
Woah, then story lamb sometimes tells wolf when you're waiting to respawn is probably a reference to cyborg cowbow. The tall lonely man that split himself in two to become lamb and wolf.
+Dekal I know it is death, but the description also works for the cyborg. Lamb's story describes Kindred's creation both in the lore, and the champion development process, simultaneously.
SeacowAwesome Kind of. Different sources have different things to say on the cyborg. Gypsylord said the cyborg was Kindred, but other Riot sources suggest the cyborg just had the bounty mechanic, which was taken from that champ and given to Kindred.
heyyy, very good video! I love kindred, definitely one of my top 3 favorite champs. Such a cool personality and style. adc jungler is a great concept too, I'm really happy with the champ.
I think a global skill-shot that can only hit one target would be an awesome idea. Anyone whos played Jhin, Ashe, Jinx, Caitlyn, or any one with a straight line skill shot knows the pain of the tank blocking the hit that would have killed their teammate. Imagine a Jinx ult, but you pick one target, then fire (it is a skill shot),and you're shot ignores all unit collisions until it hits your enemy. There's a number of things you can do with this. It doesn't have to be an instant kill, but it could still be a powerful ability
i think Kindred's death animation is pretty dark. How poetic.
Javi B I actually see Kindreds death as something beautiful.
When Lamb falls Wolf immediately rushes to her side and they fall together
Deep ;-;
I mean can an idol of death really die?
They dont die tho. They even speak while dead.
Lamb and Wolf are two of the same. Wolf dies with Lamb, not killing her.
When I read "What kindred could've been" i was intrigued because i thought kindred was pretty good, and was surprised someone would try to one up an already pretty good concept.

Woah no way that is awesome!!
IMO Kindred is one of the most uniquely designed (playable) characters in a video game, hands down.

It had a "yin and yang" concept along with the same color scheme as the current kindred. This champion idea essentially came from a player. I can't seem to find it
You just earned yourself a subcriber, Jeremy ! Nice video man !
Woah, then story lamb sometimes tells wolf when you're waiting to respawn is probably a reference to cyborg cowbow. The tall lonely man that split himself in two to become lamb and wolf.
+SeacowAwesome
It isn't. The man who split himself in half was Death. The cyborg idea was scrapped, and is in no way related to Kindred anymore.
+Dekal I know it is death, but the description also works for the cyborg. Lamb's story describes Kindred's creation both in the lore, and the champion development process, simultaneously.
SeacowAwesome
Kind of. Different sources have different things to say on the cyborg. Gypsylord said the cyborg was Kindred, but other Riot sources suggest the cyborg just had the bounty mechanic, which was taken from that champ and given to Kindred.
Jeremy you should do story telling you have the voice for it, I could listen to you all day :3
Fun fact : Riot used the character concept at 3:12 to create Cypher from Valorant
jeremy. you are the best youtuber of league ever. keep on doing that!
good shit curious! love these videos. You've come a long way with your content!
That's actually really cool and interesting. Nice work.
heyyy, very good video! I love kindred, definitely one of my top 3 favorite champs. Such a cool personality and style. adc jungler is a great concept too, I'm really happy with the champ.
Lol'd Art for Ranged Gondar concept.glad it became something original.
