Bravo CoverGirl for going completely cruelty-free!!! I usually avoid matte foundations because they look flat and dry on me too, as well as accentuate my pores, lines and wrinkles. This makeup looked really smooth on your skin, I may have to change my mind about CoverGirl foundation. I love that you don't edit out your flubs (dropping products). Lol! I went to the Milani website the other day to check out their eyeshadow palettes and noticed that they have again released several newer shades on the lighter end of the spectrum of the Conceal & Perfect foundation. The latest additions are: 00AA-Ivory (fair w/pink undertone); 00BB-Nude (fair w/neutral undertone); & 01A-Creamy Nude (light w/ warm-neutral undertone). So it would seem that Milani is actually listening to their customers about the shade range. There are now 6 shades lighter than 01-Creamy Vanilla.
OH WOW I missed the new Milani shades!! That is awesome because 00A is about my best winter shade (and I'm a good 2 shades darker than the fairest of the fair). I need to check them out - might be good mixers, too!
You have a satin finish with that! GORGEOUS! It looks nice . I'm surprised that Cover Girl makes a better foundation than some of the higher end products, good to know!
Thank you Shelly! I was inspired by Quinn & you on your community page; that owl is my pen & ink drawing ( mostly dots) But now UA-cam is only putting an old picture of me & even though the owl is still on my profile picture, this other picture of me keeps appearing . I just sent a message to UA-cam on how to get my owl back ( maybe it takes a few days ) I also changed my Google to the owl so it's not that 🤔. I'm not good at this 🙄 but I will hopefully get an answer from them
Holy shit, I can't believe CG finally decided that women come in colors lighter than beige. Now the big question is does it still have that funky smell that reminds me of 1995?
I will need to smell it!! I'm such a bad judge of scent - most scents don't bother me and I rarely notice them unless they're totally in your face and overwhelming. I'm away for the holiday week but I'll smell it when I get back!! I didn't notice anything but I often don't!
I haven't used a CG face product in years because they had such a strong smell. Like I'm just thinking about the clean foundation that came in the triangle bottle and I can taste the smell. And every single girl in my high school used that makeup and now I'm having flashbacks to gym class and the locker room and it's not a good thing.
@@amytyler8216 Cover Girl Clean Liquid Matte Foundation! Stunk to high heaven, but we all wore it because it cost like 3 bucks a bottle! 😂 Ugh, that smell tho 🤢
Yay for Cover Girl going cruelty free. Not sure that I could pull this foundation off, since my ancient skin is super dry in the cold months. It looks fantastic on you! Thanks, Shelly. Have a great Thanksgiving!
I have this foundation too and I like it as well. It reminds me of the Makeup Forever velvet mat. I have normal skin and I do agree it is very long wearing, and I always layer like 4 moisturizing products beneath anything, especially in winter when it is cold outside and the heaters are on. I went to your website yesterday and saw your spreadsheet and I am impressed. Very organized and has good info there.
Great review! I was really excited when I heard Covergirl went cruelty free, but I haven't used their products since maybe... high school?? I will definitely give this foundation a go, thanks to your reviews, Shelly :)
Yeah I hadn't used them much at all. Just never had luck with much of their stuff. I've tried a few things since their rebranding and have been impressed - I'm thinking right off the bat of a super-colorful eyeshadow palette they put out which, for drugstore, is a really tough sell when it comes to highly pigmented colorful mattes. But doggone, they pulled it off! It's a really nice little palette (and I don't like many drugstore eyeshadows to begin with). And then this foundation! I mean, this isn't just passable... it's legitimately something I will reach for! I feel like a jerk saying I'm borderline shocked, but color me surprised, at least!
Great drugstore find!! I’ll have to pick it up. The only other matte foundation I have is from Lottie London, which you reviewed , and I’ve enjoyed that.
This sounds a lot like the old formula of the double wear light. That one was also described as almost being a “film” which sounded gross but ended up being a really nice finish. Thanks for the review!
A few drops of oil might help with the drying factor. I cant get enough of that technique lately. It transforms foundation like magic. I'm surprised by this one too. Cover Girl isnt a brand I am often drawn into. I finally got the Catrice dewy mist and it is magical! I can't believe it is drugstore! One of those products I know I will never be able to live without ever again.
I have worn this once more and the Catrice was almost enough to do the trick! Doggone I love that spray. I try not to use sprays in reviews unless I'm salvaging a disaster 😂I bet a drop of oil plus the Catrice and it won't even be drying anymore. Then I'll have to decide if I like it more than the Makeup Revolution foundations! The finish on this is so pretty.
Since my HG of Life foundation (CYOLifeproof) is getting discontinued, I have been going back through your reviews to find an affordable alternative -- I think I'll give this one a try!
I really enjoy this one! I still do mix 2 shades because the one in the middle of these two is too yellow for me. But the finish is so nice and not at all matte on me - and I can make it even more dewy if I wear a dewy primer and setting spray. I like that it gives those options and is just all around workable.
I think this may be my next foundation try. Looked so natural and pretty on you. I just recently purchased a couple ccolor palettes and I'm so impressed!! Yay for day two!!
Merle Norman has some foundations that sound pretty good for dry skin. I don’t hear anyone talk about Merle Norman much anymore. You always look great! I love your laugh.
I remember you posting a photo on Instagram about this and I was so excited you found one with a satin finish. I can't believe it's been over a year. I did buy this shortly after this video but I got the wrong shade. It was only a few months ago that I finally picked up the L20 to mix in. So I've been wearing this off and on for a few short months so decided to watch this video again. I do think it's best with the dewy skin cream underneath. It can be drying but otherwise, I really enjoy it.
My CVS expanded the shades they carry of this and I finally picked up L15 which I think I might be able to wear without mixing - I haven't tried it yet!
I think the foundation looks good on you. I have been looking for a dewy matte foundation so I'm going to try this one. CG used to be a no for me because they were not a cruelty free brand.
Nice, we found a little bit of sugar in our coffee. I have never tried Cover Girl brand in foundation. My skin is normal to dry, fine wrinkles shows when a product is too dry. It looks like it might be good for the summer or under a very well moisturized face and hydrating spray during the day. I wonder if the extra moisturizing and hydrating may take away the beautiful finish. Oh well, the price is good for experimentation.
I'd say definitely worth a shot on this one! I do wear my full skin care underneath foundations (including moisturizer) - which may have added a little bit of the dewy look on this one (I was wearing a pretty dewy moisturizer underneath from Doll Face). I haven't yet tried spraying mid-day but it's getting to be that time of year!
Hi there, I thought the foundation looked beautiful on your skin:) I can’t wait to give it a try... I personally like foundation with a slight luminous glow as it helps my skin look more youthful. Thanks again for the review!
Looks really good on you. I usually stay away from matte finish for the same reasons but this one sounds like it’s worth a look at. Looking forward to the next foundation you are reviewing tomorrow!
Thanks, Darrele! I was just thinking that yesterday when I woke up but it's so hard to tell when you look at yourself every day! The newest long-term thing in my routine is the P50 toner and I am really liking the results! Brighter skin maybe?
Okay, ok...I’m getting it! I’ve seen several positive reviews on this formula and yours is the tipping point on me finally spending $11 on it. Thanks👍🏼
Definitely better then yesterday's!!! This looked fantastic on you. I think they call it a "demi matte" formula. Where its not super matte and closer to the natural look. I really like the dewiness this gave you. Great review!!! 😊❤
@@goow with your hair too?? That's A first for me!! Never heard demi permanent color. Truthfully, I only heard demi matte maybe 6 months ago. I actually had to look it up along with desi skin tone. Not terms we had when I was younger!!! So confusing lol ❤
I actually really love this foundation, and I was shocked at how great it was on me. I have normal to dry skin as well, and this foundation is *barely* matte (which is fine for me!) though I will spray it mid day with Glowsetter or Fix+ or something, but it seriously rivals on look and performance with the Teint Idole and Beauty Blender Bounce (both of which I really like). Of course there's the infamous Cover Girl white dots on me, but they go away. Thank you as always!
I am so intrigued by these white dots! I haven't seen them but I have only worn it twice. I wonder what it is!! I was thinking maybe something in the powder finish reacting with sponge dampness?
I am so happy you liked this foundation. It's my favorite. I like the finish and more importantly I feel like something about it camouflages my melasma. If I look I can still see it but not like a strange shadow under my makeup. Sorta hard to describe but either way I love it.😊
I have been very interested in this foundation but the matte aspect scared me. I’m so glad you tried it for me!!hahaha. I’m definitely going to go buy it now. Thanks Shelly. As always your videos are the best!!❤️❤️
I'm with you! Film.... 🤔 🤔 ?? I wonder if this would work over different primers. Nars doesn't work for me over Smashbox primer, but is beautiful over Pore Professional. Complete opposite with Urban Decay. Thank you for the review, I don't mind the matte luminosity! And not settling is a bonus! 😃 May have to check it out!
I love the finish of this foundation but I'm an oil slick but it oxidized so bad on me I looked like a Cheeto..it was horrible I seem to have that issue with all cover girl foundations..great video..
I feel like this formula might just not be well named... for as glowy as it made me, I can't imagine someone that actually produces oil! My face basically produces none.
I just love your foundation reviews! Anytime I am interested in checking out a new foundation, or have just bought a new one, I always check out your review on it!!
hi, shelly! wowzer! impressive and cruelty free! i'm going to check this one out as i'm a drugstore dame (sounds like a 50's detective character, right?) it did go on so nicely, looked really good and held up really well. i'll be looking for the nyx primer too. looking forward to tomorrow and a new adventure in foundation fest world. have a great night! ~k
Hey Shelly, just curious: when you do the foundation swatches on your arm, are they freshly applied or have they had time to oxidize if they do oxidize? Thanks for all your hard work. I love your channel. ❤❤❤
Hi Rosalba! They're freshly swatched, unless I noticed oxidation then I wait for them to dry down. (I film the swatches after I film the rest of the video, so I have an idea of the coloring by the time I shoot the swatches. Usually I'm running off to work after filming the intro/application so the swatches usually don't get filmed until night, after I film the wrap-up). :-D Though often times the outer edges of a swatch will be dried down by the time I get them all applied and the background set up and everything - which I like, because then you can kind of see both ways. It takes maybe 4-5 minutes from the time I'm swatching to the time I actually film that part, so they've all dried 4-5 minutes or so.
You look great in this video, might be better for someone like me- super oily and 41 next month... as an aside, how is the Total temptation working for you? I found that it had kind of a perfume-y scent (I use waterproof because I have very watery eyes). Would you consider doing a mascara roundup type series at some point?
I'm definitely due for another mascara round-up! I love the total temptation. I generally use the non-waterproof one though I do sometimes use the waterproof one on my lower lashes because they smudge so much on me. It's my favorite drugstore mascara, for sure.
Hi Alicia - I do! (I think I dyed it back to dark brown for tomorrow's video, of course!) I did a video on how I stripped the previous black dye out and dyed it red, and that's the same red I had re-done multiple times until last week when I went back to brown :) ua-cam.com/video/pKqX20YS9zw/v-deo.html It's L’Oreal Excellence HiColor Reds Permanent Hair Color in the shade Intense Red
Can u review the maybelline ultra satin foundation? I’m hearing mixed reviews and you have a similar skin type as mine so I want to hear your opinion! Love your videos
I have been using this foundation for a week now and while I found a perfect colour match, I don’t like it. I’m really trying to make it work for me though because I want to like it. I have normal, slightly oily t zone and it makes my face feel like the Sahara desert! It wears off so quickly too. It’s funny how we can all have different results, that’s makeup. I think I will mix it with something else to use it up and just go back to my Revlon colourstay.
Body chemistry and makeup is fascinating! The Revlon ColorStay is a tough one to beat. I don't think I've ever done a video on it but I've got 3 shades of it so that I can match any time of year. It's one reliable foundation.
Thx for this, I’m excited! Which one is more smoothing/blurring: this or the Candid foundation? When u say dry you’re just referring to feeling but not appearance right?
Hey Hammy! OH MY that's a tough decision. Holy cow. I'm sitting here going back and forth in my head. I've worn the Candid more so I might lean Candid just because I've seen it look beautiful with a variety of primers/applications and I've only worn the CG twice so far - but I really love the sort of satin-luminous finish of the CG. So really I'd say they are neck and neck right now in my preference of smoothing/blurring. And yep - I think it was juuuuuust starting to feel dry but it didn't really look dry.
You're so funny I loved the accident of dropping the foundation that would be something I would so do anyways love the foundation fast can't wait until tomorrow's have a great night hope you got some rest
I mostly like this foundation but it looked a bit cakey on my chin and nose (my prob areas) after abt 9 hrs. One odd thing is every time I applied this, I always use a sponge, I would have there little white dots all over. I saw a few reviews that said the same and when I said that on Cover Girl's IG, they reached out to ask my address to send me another. Unfortunately, that never happened. Otherwise, it's a nice foundation and L15 works for me.
I read that in a couple places about the white dots! I have only worn this twice now, but no dots that I noticed. I wonder if something in the finish reacts with the dampness of a sponge? One thing I've started doing on my nose and chin (also my problem areas!) is putting very little of my morning skin care serums on those areas. I've been skipping my nose and doing just the tiniest bit on my chin (except sunscreen - that goes everywhere). It seems to help foundation to stick around better. I was thinking maybe skin care doesn't soak into my nose, being very thin skin there? And then it messes with foundation?
For it to be a matte finish it looks dewy, it lasted through the day for you....looks really nice.....with a setting spray you might like it even more!
@@sebmak6827 Thank you for the recommendation! I will look out for it. I used to wear foundation to work but with my super dry skin... I stopped. I haven't found the foundation, primer, possible setting spray that has worked past 8 or so hours. My shifts are 13- 14 hours long. But I will try this to see if it'll help my Nars wear longer!!
@@melmcmahan6826 I like the Flower Beauty one! The mist is super fine. I actually spray a couple spritzs as a "primer" & then I spray it on top as usual. I actually thought I'd not buy anymore when my bottle ran out & I noticed a difference in my makeup immediately.
Hi Benita! I didn't have good luck with the Superstay (it earned a D- when I reviewed it) - ua-cam.com/video/gpnHjXbKycU/v-deo.html - I'd pick this Cover Girl foundation!
Seen this in thé shop thé other day might pick it up😁Can i just Ask since im 44 and m'y eyes are not as good as they use to bé thé writing was way to small 😁❤️
So i got this cause i am really oily in the t-zone (particullary my nose) and i got these little white balls in it, like sand and i have seen other people say that too and this does not control my oil at all 1 tiny bit... ugh!!! So frustrating cause i liked the way it looked. I would deal with picking the sand off my face if it controlled my oils. I tried the matching primer also... any suggestions?!?!?!?!? Literally cant find anything that im not super oily within about 4-6 hours
This almost got dewy on me which is super odd because I generally don't produce oil on my face - so I wonder if it just isn't good at oil control? I haven't tried a mattifying primer (I don't have any, as they dry my skin out) but I think that would be the first thing I'd suggest trying!
@@goow i saw that!!! I have to say i was both surprised and not surprised you got dewy. I was surprised bc you seemed to be dewy right away which i start out flat matte, which i am ok with because i do have oils. But i wasn't surprised cause like i said it did not control my oil whatsoever. Have you tried that Catrice dewy setting spray?? Taylor raves about it.
Hi Kris! I tried the Flawless Finish and Beautifully Bare. LOL it scared me too! And then totally shocked me! So I'd say go for it - it's so pretty!
I use the CG healthy elixir in the summer and the CG BB creme mixed with loreal pro matte in the winter. Lookin good Shelly!
Such a weird word to use in describing makeup! 😂
your eyes look great Shelly!!!!
Thanks, Darcey! I always think I look weird without liner on my upper lashline but I do it every so often :-D
Wow. I do like that foundation on you. It’s a pretty finish! Beautiful !
Thanks, Michell! A surprise hit, for sure!
"This is a makeup look I call, I gots to go " 🤣🤣🤣 love it.
😂😂😂
Hi Shelly...I think this looks so pretty on your skin. It looks like skin. I’m trying it for sure!
Thanks, Timbra! It was a happy surprise!
I may give this a try, lets hope its the first covergirl foundation that doesnt oxidize
Sammie Schmall nope it deff does
I love the finish of this foundation but I'm an oil slick but it oxidized so bad on me I looked like a Cheeto..it was horrible I seem to have that issue with all cover girl foundations..great video..
I feel like this formula might just not be well named... for as glowy as it made me, I can't imagine someone that actually produces oil! My face basically produces none.
1) lipstick... heck yeah. 2) eyeshadow... heck yeah! 3) I’m going to pick this up!
I have vowed to wear more red lips this winter!
Loving foundation fest! You were hella glowing, lady!
Thanks, Jeannie!
I just love your foundation reviews! Anytime I am interested in checking out a new foundation, or have just bought a new one, I always check out your review on it!!
Thanks, Lucy! I love foundation! :-D
I have this! I need to try it again! I got the revlon candid foundation and concealer yesterday and am excited to try it!
Candid is so pretty, too! I was trying to decide which one I like better and hoooooo boy that's a tough call....
It looks good! I bought the lightest shade when I was in the US this summer but haven´t tried it yet. But it looks good on you so I´m excited :)
I love my Dope pallet. I am going to have to try this, I do not like the Clinique that I am have.
This is a winner, how I laughed when you nearly dropped the bottle, the look of panic on your face was classic 😂
I drop and break SO many things! 😂😂😂
Wow this one surprised me for you too! I might just try this. Thanks!!
A good surprise is always welcomed! :-D
hi, shelly! wowzer! impressive and cruelty free! i'm going to check this one out as i'm a drugstore dame (sounds like a 50's detective character, right?) it did go on so nicely, looked really good and held up really well. i'll be looking for the nyx primer too. looking forward to tomorrow and a new adventure in foundation fest world. have a great night! ~k
Totally a 50's detective title!! But glam of course! 😂😍
Alright trying this one for sure!
I think I will give this one a go. 👍 thanks
Thank you for this review, very helpful!! I was looking to add this into my pro-Kit so I really appreciate this!!♥️
Thanks for the tutorial, I'll give this a try.
Do you dye your own hair? What color is it? It's gorgeous and sets off your eyes and coloring so well!
I will definitely be sliding into your DMs in a few weeks to show you how this color looks on me. Thanks!
Looks great! Xoxo
I remember covergirl when I was a teenager, they don’t really sell it in the UK
I was noticing that I haven't seen it here in Ireland on my trip! I wonder why.
Sadly I haven't seen cover girl here in the drugstores in Austria. I used it in the early nineties as a teenager in The Netherlands.
Bummer! They've definitely improved since the 90s!
Can u review the maybelline ultra satin foundation? I’m hearing mixed reviews and you have a similar skin type as mine so I want to hear your opinion! Love your videos
Hi Kayla! If you mean the Dream Satin... you are psychic :) It's coming Thursday (I think! It's one of the days this week!)
Any Avon Anew foundation reviews?
Hi Nancy! I've got Avon in my bin to review (though I didn't get to it in this batch!)
@@goow thank you so much, i always appreciate you answering my many questions :D
You're so funny I loved the accident of dropping the foundation that would be something I would so do anyways love the foundation fast can't wait until tomorrow's have a great night hope you got some rest
Thanks, Jan! I just made it to the Outer Banks in NC to chill for the rest of the (chilly) week on the beach!
Which setting spray do you use? Most dry me out horribly!
Mel McMahan have you tried the nyx dewy setting spray? I have to be careful if I use too much I look greasy but it works great on my dry skin!
@@itsmecandicemarie Thank you! I'll check this one out, too!!
Loving your car color! Great demo per usual. I didn't like this foundation. It seemed to look fabulous on you!
Thanks!! It's "hypergreen" :-D No way to sneak around now! 😂😂😂
CoverGirl made matte vs Maybelline 24 hr Superstay full coverage
It's been awhile.
I noticed the dewy look when you put it on. Looked like you had highlighter on
Not what I was expecting from the name but I like it!
Have you tried the E.L.F foundations?
Hi Kris! I tried the Flawless Finish and Beautifully Bare. They were OK but neither works very well on me - here are the reviews I did: Beautifully Bare - ua-cam.com/video/IVHBkvNOfA0/v-deo.html and Flawless Finish - ua-cam.com/video/mgURTD-qmq4/v-deo.html and here are all of the grades of all of the foundations I've reviewed - geekoutofwater.com/foundation-fest/ :)
😂😂😂 me after being between shades, but foodie edition: “rum, or coke? Uhh 🙄 Rum AND coke” 😘😘😘
😂😂😂
The maybelline dream satin liquid foundation** sorry had to fix the name
Yep that one is coming this week!
Too bad I'm allergic to them. Break out every time
Bummer! :(
I can't do ANY matte foundations. They look disgusting on me. My skin is far too dry for that crap LOL
Hehehe that's part of why I grabbed this one now - give it another month and I will be parched as all get-out! 😂
