    "Don't change your form, adjust your position" I love that. I keep reminding myself of that everytime I shadow box or do drills. Wise words and great knowledge!

    So basically never fight or throw punches down the centerline move in angles make so much sense if you lucky enough when going down the center line there might be slight chance you can knock your opponent but it allway best throw punches or attack in angles footwork first punches follow a fighter who move while punching is more deadlier than fighter who move and then punch

      Yes but to throw straight you have to learn slips and weaves if angling isn’t so effective but that’s a different topic.
      The basics to learn to stay offensive and defensive is this and what is usually relied on

    Yes. Simply said but not simply executed, which is why practice makes perfect. The slight movements make a difference as those are what gives you the whole conclusion tonwhat you want accomplished. Excellent video and well specified

    Does anyone know what Marvin Cook is at now ???
    This man is some kind of a Yoda Master Genius. All his lessons can be applied to KB/MT and MMA too.
    Samart applied this theory to MT and he is the greatest. SL Robinson and Ali used that a lot too.
    Now in MMA, I recently saw Aldana, Namajunas and Josh Emmet use the Circling a lot. Against an Orhtodox, the "Circle to the right thing" is for Real. It seems like it always works. In MMA, circling is also very good to avoid Take Downs, coach Fernand Lopez from MMA Factory said something about it a few weeks ago

      Marvin's making new videos now. He may be able to get ahold of him through his channel. He's located in SoCal.

    Yo, I love your break downs and philosophy!💪 I use them quite a bit in prepping for and sharing with a Kickboxing class I coach.

    He angles like a fencer. It is beautiful. Modern fencing (post 1896) emphasises precision a lot. Before you hit, you have to find the angle.

    For defense we use our feet to slip the punches but there is anyway to do the sliping while on this stance? I can do every punch in this boxing stance i just need to go to the right place right? I spared sometimes on this stance on the acadamy it worked but i caught myself always using the jab not attacking the enemy

    Mr. Marvin I love your videos but I have a question. I am right handed and I fight southpaw. I have been doing this my whole life, it has been maximizes my chances of winning my whole life. So the question is should I change to a orthodox or keep the southpaw style. Thanks again big homie

    • @juliansanderson839
      @juliansanderson839 3 роки тому +2

      When you hear about great southpaws, what is it that people were told to watch out for? The rear left hand. Nobody in boxing fears a southpaw with a really good jab, because in an open stance fight, the jab loses a lot of its effectiveness.
      Are you staying southpaw as a crutch? If you have the left hand to back it up with then it’s great, but without one you are just half a boxer.

    • @c.galindo9639
      @c.galindo9639 2 роки тому

      @@juliansanderson839 the jab is the most relied on hit to win fights so it really isn’t anything bad if he is stronger with his jab but makes him more effective with fighting

    • @juliansanderson839
      @juliansanderson839 2 роки тому

      @@c.galindo9639 it really doesn’t make you more effective, just one dimensional and predicable.
      Strength isn’t the primary purpose of the jab. Most jabbing techniques compromise power for speed. Even if your strong hand is more coordinated, coordination can always be developed.
      With a rear weak hand, you lose the capacity to threaten a KO. You’re now playing chess without the constant threat of checkmate looming over the opponents head. You lose out on a lot of potential tools that come with that threat.
      You have to basically be better than your opponent every single time to have a chance of victory, and for most people that’s not feasible.
