Ducati 999 - Aluminum Gas tank - Cafe racer

- We've made an Aluminum gas tank for this awesome Ducati 999 built by Sami-Motori.
After we've made a paper template for the bottom piece, we made it out of aluminum. Then we made a wireframe to determine the shape of the tank. This wireframe is only for shaping and isn't a part of the final gas tank.
With the use of some hamers and an english wheel, we shape the aluminum plates into the desired shape.
After we've welded the whole tank together, we needed to grind down the weld seams to form a nice and even surface.
We will post some pictures on our Facebook and Instagram when Sami-Motori has finished the bike!
Thank you for watching, we hope you've enjoyed it.
Keep on building!

Superb, really a diamond! but what is the model and brand of this saddle?
Excellent work. Can I ask, do you tig the inside also of the top or only the outside?
Thanks!
Normally we only tig the outside, but if we can’t get a good penetration at for example a corner, we like to tig the inside on some spots as wel.
Welke alu gebruik je? En welke dikte? Mooie filmpjes!!
Bedankt Johan!
Ik gebruik 1,5 en 2mm en voor zo’n tank gebruik ik 1100 en 6082 serie
What material is the black stuff? It looks way better for mock up then cardboard.
Hi Chris,
It’s sold in The Netherlands as floor protection for when you plaster the walls of your house.
How thick is the sheet.
We use 1,5 and 2 mm thickness
