My regional cable provider switched to fiber and they started offering symmetrical 10 gigabit for $149.95 a month. I had 2gig/150mbps before on the legacy coax network. I got the TP link WiFi 7 mesh system. I get around 6500mbps down and 7400 up over WiFi to my laptop that I upgraded the m.2 Wi-Fi 7 card. I’m blown away! I’m set for at least 10 years if I didn’t want to upgrade anything for that long.
Oh, and yes, I do have cat 8 ran throughout my entire house. I completely redid everything during a renovation in 2021. I would never have this fast of a network with mesh system if I didn’t have the wired backhaul for the nodes. I have 4 units. It was a $2000 investment for the WiFi system equipment, but it’s impressive to say the least. Unfortunately, unfortunately, I had to upgrade my switches to 10 Gb which was not cheap. All in all I’m pretty sure this upgrade was about 5 grand total. So, definitely not for somebody that doesn’t take tech seriously.
Great info and well done video. Google home app is just a non starter for me.
You did a great job of explaining this buddy. Great video.
I appreciate you!
@@KyleErickson hey no worries man, hope your well
Great tutorial as usual, thanks. The system I set up in our old home is archaic by today's standards. I've got our offices hard-wired (that was a hassle) so we're getting ~400 Mbps download speeds on our desktops --- more than enough. Since I'm the only one that uses wireless I have a simple setup using wi-fi via powerline adapters in my man cave. Like I said, archaic, but it works for us.
as long as it works, that's all that matters!
These things don't matter as long as you are using LAN or Cable internet instead of Fiber and most of the US uses Cable Inernet which will never give you symmetrical download and upload speed.
Quite timely! I was just exploring wifi6 versus 5 for our studio.
Also… you live next door to Mia? 😳
😂
I noticed that too LOL
I have an Linksys Velop mesh system with 2 in a 2700sqft 2 level home. Main connection is on one far side up stairs. I cannot run a wired mesh and wondering if upgrade to the 3 google pro mesh pod system would work well with minimal speed loss even opposite side from main downstairs? Model is WHW03v1 and my satellite always has a “fair-68 DB signal” with currently 16 to 18 devices connected
Hard for me to say without being in the space, but I'd say that if you can add one more pod it couldn't hurt. You may also be able to try picking up another pod for your current system if it will allow it - some do, some don't.
Surprised you’re on Rogers mobile but went with Bell for home internet. Any reason or benefit to skipping bundling?
That's a long story lol
@@KyleErickson who hurt you Kyle 😂
Did I just saw a Mia Khalifa network that you connec to... :)
