- A simple technique for using up scraps and odd bits of embroidery thread that aren't necessarily of the best quality. (Basically using anything you have lying around in your stash that you're not too precious about!)
I share with you how I randomly select fabrics and threads, and create a piece of slow stitch, not overthinking things too much, and allowing myself to enjoy the process.
This results in a completely unique piece of work, and discovering new ideas!

I didn't know that's what this style is called. I like to use my Granny's bits to put patches on my jeans like that. Connects me to Her, and my inner Holly Hobbie girlself. 😊

I loved you showing us the whole process in this video, how to take time selecting and enjoying choosing which fabrics. A real slow down moment like a meditation. Thank you for making this video. I’ve been stitching just a couple of years now, never realising I could enjoy it so much. I’m learning lots of embroidery and sewing techniques but I’m really drawn to slow stitch and the arty side of it. It’s so enjoyable.
I’d love to know what your favourite supplies are for pins and needles as it can be hard finding good quality ones that don’t stick or fray the thread?

To be honest, I don't have any special or favourite supplies. I tend to just use what works for me, and what feels comfortable to stitch with. I think it's a case of trial and error. Maybe try out a few. They don't have to be expensive, either. I've never gone for expensive supplies. Maybe just a couple of pounds for a set. I have a small selection of embroidery and sharps in different sizes and they do me fine. Please don't think that the more expensive the better, it's often not the case. Just find what works for you.

@@ginaashby6782 Hi Gina, well I haven't done anything with it at this point, and I'm not sure if I will. Sometimes it's just nice to stitch something just for the sake of it, and not for any particular reason. I have quite a few pieces that I stitch and don't do anything with, but I'm ok with that; the important thing is that I enjoyed the process of stitching them. One day I might do something with them; maybe add them to pages of a fabric book, who knows?! ☺

What do you do with these pieces? I love them and might put them in my journal or even frame them but not sure if I'm missing any other ways to use them?
Both of your ideas are great! I tend to have a lot sitting in a pile, ready and waiting for them to be used in some way! 😆Whether that actually happens is another matter. To be honest, I just love creating them, and await for them to call to me and let me know what I do with them next, whenever that may be. I have turned some into fabric books. It's good to keep a record to look back on, and it can also act as inspiration for future projects. I have also turned some into needle books too. Have fun, however you want to use yours, and let me know if you come up with anymore ideas! I'd love to hear them. Thanks for watching! 🥰
