My Cinderella Playlist! • Cinderella
In this Heartbreak Station guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this great ballad by Cinderella in its entirety.
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E. The main guitar being used through the original recording and this video lesson is a 12-string acoustic in standard tuning.
I will take you through all the sections of "Heartbreak Station" in the order that each of them appears on the original recording. We will start with that killer acoustic intro and go from there!
I will also cover Tom Keifer's excellent lap steel solo. I don't own a lap steel and I would be willing to bet your don't either! Haha... So I have transcribed it to be played on a normal 6 string guitar. I used an acoustic guitar for the solo in this video lesson, but a big soaring lead electric guitar sound would probably sound even better.

Beautifully done. Probably the absolute best ballad from the era, and there is some pretty stiff competition.
The chord change into the chorus is what gets you. It drives home the melancholy. It's perfect.

If you are playing on a regular six string when you do the initial first pass pick pattern that Carl shows, when you come off the high E string, just play the B string since the fretted note is the same as the open D string. Definitely sounds sharper on a six string like this. Or pluck them together for at least a hint of 12 string.🤗

On the DVD for Alien Love Secrets, there is an amazing guitar piece Steve plays. I don’t recall hearing it anyplace else. It plays at the beginning of the DVD and on the menu screen. You should check it out!
