  • In this video, started originally in January when I purchased it, I look at the Thunderpole T-600 compact CB radio, and then take it up to my usual high spot and test the radio on transmit from my car's antenna being received back at the home QTH on the President Grant II and the Boomerang antenna.
I am impressed by this radio and would highly recommend it, I have also recently spoke to someone locally who has a T-600 in their vehicle and it does sound good.
As mentioned in the video if you want you can buy me a coffee to help keep my creativity sharp, just go to buymeacoffee.c...

Just come across your channel Paul, we have a T600 as a return operator from 40 odd years ago, works out the box I have adjusted the output as only 2.5watts for some reason now 4 into a dummy load. Works well I have managed 30+ miles on a orbit spring antenna on a mag mount. Great video keep them coming. 26TG064 M7CVK Tony

They are usually set low out of the box, a lot of modern CB radios are set that way, thanks for viewing

@@PaulMcGeeM0WNU I have seen a few of the unboxing videos and yes your correct they all seem to be set low, it dose get warm now, but two key presses and it’s back to low power. Reports I have had say the audio is clear and crisp so for a budget radio I am pleased. Using a Yaesu 818 to listen it’s not bad at receiving either back to back on RX. Also have the CRT SS 9900 nice bit of kit for the price.

Good to see the T600 video we must do a video where we get as far apart as we can and still receive and transmit with two t600s

Great video! Coincidentally I bought the T-600 as my first rig just last week (I’m a total newbie). Not managed to make any contacts yet though, the airways round by me seem eerily quiet!
Love your videos, please keep them coming. Especially the ones you do for people at my level 👍

Great video Paul, really new to this game. I recently purchased a Uniden-Bearcat scanner to rekindle an old interest. Really enjoying that. What would you suggest for a home base setup for CB? Many thanks or should I say 73's!! I'm over in County Antrim and not sure of local CB activity .

I'm not sure on mics, I think the Thunderpole sounds a bit better.

I’ve just noticed if you press the ASQ button and one of the arrow buttons on the mic at the same time that a new setting I’m not familiar with displays on the T-600. There is an “RX” that appears to the left of screen and what appears to be oF to the right of screen, accompanied by copious background interference. What does this mean/do?

What you may have done is turn the auto squelch off and the manual squelch is also off which means you will hear the background noise, you can adjust this until the noise stops by pressing the SQ button on the front of the radio or the ASQ button on the mic and the arrow buttons either on the front of the radio or on the mic
