    I love listening to him. You can still hear the Irish in his voice.

      Because he makes it so. Listening to the dialogues he mastered for different roles means you hear Irish because he chooses to effect it.

    Just finished watching The Tudors. Loved every minute of it. Jrm is superb as Henry. Henry Cavill was awesome as Charles Brandon. It made History come alive. Im addicted to that fascinating time in history

    Anne of Cleves was my favorite, it brought me great joy seeing him say such positive things about her and what he was trying to portray because that's exactly how I thought he felt during the card game, she was downright gorgeous during that scene. He slept with her but it wasn't the same..that to me was his biggest mistake. He had a chance to be truly happy so quickly after the death of the Jane.

    This is one of the few actor interviews I can truly relate to. Jono is a winner in more ways than one.

    Catherine Howard was not a nymphomaniac. She was a victim of childhood sexual abuse by Mannox, when she was only a child. Dereham too took advantage of her and hoped to better his own position by his connection with her and her illustrious family. She was only 15 when Henry Vlll went for her. She already liked and admired Culpepper - they were related. And I believe he was the man she first fell in love with and chose for herself. But he was older and more experienced in the ways of the court, and he was the kings special servant. He should have known better than to endanger them both.

      I do believe JRM was talking about the TV version or the Hollywood version of Catherine, not the historical events, you can even tell he is talking about the writers Character, when he refers to her as a "pampas little twit" lol so he's not talking about the real Catherine Howard but the TV or writers version of her.

      The show if filled to the brim with innacurate storyline. But this is a show, entertainment not a documentary. As a historian I have to tell myself this before I watch The Tudors or it will make me insane

      The actor has rightly chosen to talk about the characters. The circumstance is a storytelling. Actors, probably more than anyone else, realize just how little we know about historic figures, who have been filtered and distilled by time to caricatures. A good playright and a good actor create a character, in three dimensions, not meant to be a photograph of the namesake, but a tangible, credible human. And both are humble enough to not imagine we are able to know the "truth" written in histories.

      @@borderlineiq Yes, I watched all the interviews with the actors, the writer, even the musical director on how they came up with the music for the show. I'm aware that actors have to interpret the characters in a meaningful way and Jonathan and Natalie Dormer did this admirably with the little they had to go on with Ann Bolyens character.

      @@juanitarichards1074 I think the cinema approach has often been to focus on Boleyn's sister's demise and how hard her father was angling to get in good at court.

    That’s a good point, people don’t realize how certain STDs drive people “mad” if left untreated, can result in death. So I’m quite sure Henry’s intimate death was because of this and the wound that never healed.

    Thomas Cromwell be like- Are you serious??? You executed me for arranging the marriage with Anne of Cleves.....now you suddenly like her??

    • @MissSlovakia2
      @MissSlovakia2 3 роки тому +1

      I believe it wasn't just for that. Cromwell was the one who wanted princess Mary to be dead, wasn't he? He was also pretty active in other executions, like the Thomas More one's if I'm not wrong. I think Henry regretted that he listened to him. And also Henry changed his mind pretty quickly. Once he agreed with someone and on the other day he disagreed with the same person.
