Nothing compares to that feeling when you were a kid and Christmas was coming. Carols at school assembly, cold walks home in the snow, decorations in people's windows, TV adverts...magic time. Roll on Christmas 2023.
Was unbelievable watching these adverts as a kid in the run up to christmas saying i want that, that, that and that lol. Merry Christmas fella and to everyone 🎅
Loved He-man. I used to have a little Orco on a cord like they used to use in battling tops. I used to take him anywhere 😂 Thanks for the year long reminiscing session. Merry Christmas x
When Sindy was introduced in the US, commercials featured Susan Olson, Cindy from "The Brady Bunch". The US distributor Marx went into receivership about two years after and had to pull everything from the market.
Ghost Castle was wicked. I had Operation. I had 6 older Brothers and they were forced into playing it with me hehehe Actually I liked Beware The Spider as much but most people don't remember that.
Love this, some toys I'd never heard off, maybe by that point I was working. Do you remember chutes away and electronic detective, I got them in 80 and 81 respectively. Hope you have a good Christmas
Yeah, both of those are on one of the other toys compilations (possibly volume one). Thanks for the well wishes. I just got over COVID, so it'll be a VERY merry Christmas! Have a great one! 😁🎄
This has a couple of commercials that were nearly identical in the US, which is interesting. I love how UK commercials show the price for everything and the way it's worded. I can't remember a price on a toy commercial in the US being so obviously displayed, especially not staring in a descending manner or in a range.
I wonder how many young kids of today have even seen a game board, unless it's on a screen, caught TV ad voice over king Tom Baker in there in the Masters of the universe one, how many ads as he worked on over the years ..
Matchbox should of just stuck to making toy cars. If any doll was going to come alive at night and hack you to death with your own carving knife, it would be Cricket!
@@RetroSteveUK - Curiosity got the better of me so I googled it. From Wikipedia: ‘A charley horse is a painful involuntary cramp in the legs and/or foot, lasting anywhere from a few seconds to a day.’ It’s an American term. The original TV advert was American, (very) badly overdubbed with British accents for the U.K. (Remember the mother coming down the stairs? “It’s my turn to operate.” “Operate?!?”)

Awww! Glofreinds are cute!
Waddingtons and MB Games, good times indeed! I especially remember having lots of fun playing with the Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs game 😁
I had that too.

I remember when I was a kid I was so happy to get ghost castle board game for christmas, I still have it in my cupboard
I played it once when a kid at school brought it in on the last day of term. Awesome game.
I remember it as Haunted House. Was this a rebrand for the 80's?
@@busternineshoes I've always known it as Ghost Castle.
@@RetroSteveUK 1971! Found it on eBay. Bloody hell I'm old...
@@busternineshoes - No that was a different game. (But similar).
Used to love playing lost Valley of the dinosaurs great video lots of memories

Have an merry Christmas
🎄😁
Another great filled nostalgia to go into Christmas Eve and the big day
That's what I had in mind, so I was chuffed to read your comment. Merry Christmas! 😁🎄
Thank you RetroSteve for more memories and another quality compilation…love seeing the board games in particular! 🎄👍😊❤. Lesley
Still have that Valley of the Dinosaurs game and still have no idea how to play it. I always used to use it as a dinosaur playset.
Nice one.
Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year Steve. Please upload some more vintage alcohol ads.
I will do, when I have enough to make a compilation. In the mean time, check the playlists for more booze adverts. Have a good Christmas! 😁🎄
If you didn't have a Screwball Scramble yourself, you knew someone who did.
They have relaunched that so I am going to get one.
Fabulous as ever! Happy Christmas Steve 🎅🎄🎁❤️
😁🎄

OK who remembers the run up to christmas, looking through your mums catalogue to select toy's you wanted for christmas??????
The latest Christmas video on my second channel is all about that.
Ghost Castle was wicked. I had Operation. I had 6 older Brothers and they were forced into playing it with me hehehe Actually I liked Beware The Spider as much but most people don't remember that.
I remember Beware the Spider but never had it. Operation was always a favourite in our house.

@@RetroSteveUK I'll need to get a look at the early stuff, thanks
@@thomascook578 I've just had a look. It's Volume 2: ua-cam.com/video/FKnxuZQIUI8/v-deo.html
Chutes Way was brilliant! (Of course we all pretended they were bombs).
I remember having in the mid 70s a set called micronauts, it was very similar to the legions of power and robotixs sets , merry Christmas mate👍🎅
I had to look those up. Tied in with a comic book. Mainly in the States I think? Merry Christmas to you too! 😁🎄
That screwball game was on for years seem to remember it like from 2013 ISH era
The singing on that 'OPERATION' advert sounds like El Duce from THE MENTORS! They should have covered it.
Wow He-Man has Tom Baker announcing it's new toy.
The Dragon Walker? That’s an American accent!
@@AtheistOrphan there is one of the He-Man that if you have heard Tom Baker speak you know it's him.
@@OhioticketswithRobert - I must have missed that! Time stamp?
@@AtheistOrphan just were watch it and skip to the he man ads.
@@OhioticketswithRobert - Found it, thanks. I forgot there were two of them, the first (0:33) with an American narrator.
Would be funny to record a load of burps and put the tape into "Cricket", lol!

I think displaying the prices is less of a thing now. Might be down to diversity in pricing between so many different outlets.
@@RetroSteveUK - I think it may have some advertising regulation in place at the time. You know how strict we are on that sort of thing in the U.K!
I was once very upset over my Christmas present.
In the box were just two small batteries. On the box it said ‘Toy not included’.
I wonder how many young kids of today have even seen a game board, unless it's on a screen, caught TV ad voice over king Tom Baker in there in the Masters of the universe one, how many ads as he worked on over the years ..
Oh no He Man is coming at us with his Dragon Walker, what should we do? I know, lets walk away.
🤣

That did look like a creepy mf though. Looks like a re-skinned Teddy Ruxpin.
I had ‘Operation’, and to this day still don’t know what a ‘Charley Horse’ is.
I've always presumed they made that one up. 😂

Good-o 🙂
Batteries not included. So very 1980's...
Great film, as well. 😉👍
Puffalumps. there's a great name.
Catchy tune too, right. 😄😱
Hold on. Wasn't She-Ra his Cousin, not sister?
I think so. I'd have to look that up, to be fair.
Still not a date, then. Unless you're from certain parts of the world...
They were twins, separated at birth.
@@gibbie80s61 That's right! She was taken away.
Scalextric voiceover man trying SO HARD to sound like Murray Walker! Started convincingly, but lost it towards the end.
