Great to see you back and really looking forward to seeing future content! I worked through all your videos about 18 months ago as I was applying to get into driving. 18 months down the line I have been successful, finished all the classroom training and was about to get out driving with a minder when Covid hit. Thanks for inspiration and help from these videos

I could hazard a few guesses on the differences.....one being less people you have to deal with, perhaps another is allowing you to drive over service/freight lines such as the Dudding Hill line?

Welcome back, I hope you are enjoying your new role 😀 freight trainee driver roles are what I have been aiming for as I have heard it is more varied with more routes, the shifts are a killer but hey no joe public! Awesome.
Hit the nail on the head :-) shifts can be a killer, but the job is much more varied
I’ve only just found this, thought you had disappeared, love Dad Rail, I’ve been a truck driver , coach driver and now back to trucks and love the stuff you put out on UA-cam, beats all the truck stuff out there , keep up the good work , CLASS 47’s Rule !!!!

I hope you get in. It can be a hard career, but also has many good points. Just remember that nothing that you know from spotting/buffing about the railway. Always listen to what your trainer says, and never say “I know.” There are many fine points to learn.

Hey there! I'm really glad you are back! I have seen some of your videos which have some tips on how to start on the railway and Shunting looks interesting to start on, may I know what age I must be to start shunting?
I think it is 18, but 21 if the job involves driving. Was you thinking passenger or freight?
@@DadRail Well, what do you mean passenger or freight, if you mean what one I would like to drive then I don't mind both but I'm more into passenger.

JC Railway Videos Stay in school, or at least get some qualification in another trade before you try and get on the railway. It isn’t always as rosy as it is on the Island of Sodor.
