Padang satay sauce is made from a thick, spicy, and savory gravy. It typically includes a combination of ingredients such as rice flour (or cornstarch) for thickening, ground chili peppers for heat, turmeric for color, garlic, shallots, lemongrass, lime leaves, and various spices like coriander and cumin. Beef or offal broth is used as the base And in the middle of chicken satay, they usually insert chicken skin. You can actually order it with all chicken meat or mixed with the skin
Oh. My. Goodness!!! You were RIGHT in Food Heaven there !! Adooore this video and am just waiting to be beamed over to Jakarta, go over to that street and indulge in all that goodness!
The middle of the Chicken Satay is the chicken skin, not the intestine. For me, I really like the Chicken Satay with the peanut sauce. I hope you enjoy the food here in Indonesia
Jakarta is huge area (divide 5 major districts; north, south, central, west, east area) now u stay in Central Jakarta, Sabang is Culinary area near ur hotel, when in Jakarta worth to try Betawi Cuisine; Soto Betawi, Nasi Ulam, Gado2 (likes salad 🥗 Boplo or Cemara, Kerak Telor, Laksa Jakarta, Nasi Uduk etc. now ur eat it likes; Tahu Campur (Tahu Tek2) Sate Ayam it’s from East Java, Martabak Manis (sweet pancake’s) from Bangka island, hope u enjoy diversity of food from other regions
FYI, Sate Padang is actually made from beef tongue. The texture is slightly different from the beef. The sauce is made from rice flour with obviously some spices. That’s what makes Sate Padang unique. Enjoy our food 😊
To me, street food is the way to go in any country! (I rarely eat in restaurants in Asia or Latin America.) Not just because it's inexpensive, but because that's where you're going to find the food that the locals are eating, which is a big part of travel. I still remember the first time I tried satay in Singapore in 1991: what a revelation! 👏
Yup youre right ginger milk next level is good for healthy too....tip for you use your magic hand to stop vehicle when you crossing streets....you just raise up your hand they will stop....even in crowded trafic....
The Martabak Manis you try is also known as Terang Bulan. Lucky you try the original, chocolate with nuts (the original one using sesame seed, but now days it using peanuts, more easy to gets). Other topping you guys should try is choco with cheese. It strange for foreigners, but try it, it salty and sweet at the same time. Choco with banana is good too. And in more modern place the pancake batter is green in color (they called pandan) and red (they called red velvet).
15:20 that statment make me goosebump 🥶 good choice you order the classic martabak manis kacang & coklat 🥰 when foreigners say "OH WOW" that mean tasty 👍🏼 enjoy Indonesia 🇮🇩 guys
It's a shame you didn't try the cheese, chocolate and peanut ...it's a really perfect combination and at the very top level for martabak manis AKA terang bulan
@@2Passports1DreamWell that's right, the combination of chocolate, nuts and cheese is top level. The combination of crunchy nuts, sweet and savory chocolate and salty and savory cheese makes for an extraordinary combination in the mouth
For many foreigners, the concept combine chesee with something sweet like sugar, condense milk, and chocolate is confusing. But when you get hook by this combination, you cannot forget it. The best to hook them up is with martabak terang bulan (alot chesee choco dan condense milk as toping). I have a korean friend just like you guys, confuse in the begining. Now he hook up, he even eat bread with choco and chesee...
Damn it you guys made me salivating! Adriana was right, susu jahe is so good for your health, very warming, perfect for chilly night. Yes that middle part of satay ayam usually use skin or intestines. Can’t wait for another edit across Java
For Vegan, Indonesia have a lot of authentic food, like Gado-gado, Ketoprak, Lontong Pecel, Bakwan Jagung, Bakwan, Tempe Mendoan, Kupat Tahu, Es Pisang Ijo, Martabak, Risoles, Pastel and many more
For coffees, traditional indo ones... 3 last coffee shop is unique... oey , romanse😂, kopi srikaya. Oey hv unique egg coffee, Romanse hv lots of other indo drinks traditional and jamu, Kaya kopi hv great toast indonesian style. More budget style is kopi tuku above the hero supermarket.. more like indonesian adaptation of italian coffee. .good and very budget friendly... Saudagar kopi is related to indonesia coffee exporter association. 😊
YOU SHOULD TRY MARTABAK CHOCOLATE AND CHEESE IT'S SO GOOD. TRUST ME.. EVERYBODY LOVES IT. YOU'LL BE DISSAPOINTED IF YOU ALREADY LEAVING INDONESIA AND YOU HAVENT TRY IT
I think, I'm sure you recorded this video a long time ago. But I just want to say about typical Sate in Indonesia called Sate Ayam with peanut sauce actually originally from Madura region. Each region has satay food, such as Padang Sate, Taichan Sate, Bali Sate, Banjar Sate, etc. Also the same as soto and Nasi goreng/Mie Goreng with their own unique flavors each region. But I agree with you, with several types of sate, my taste is the same as you to prefer Chicken Sate with peanut sauce.
Or jakarta aquarium, local fishes... Currently best one is in bintaro... reachable by public rail transit station jurangmangu. The transit station is one with the aquarium mall and double tree hilton 5 star hotel😁
Those "fried onion/garlic" on some of the dishes that you had was actually fried shallots. also, the Satay Padang is different style from the satay with peanut sauce, but most of satay Padang uses beef tongue, that's why the texture is so soft and tender. When it's chewy, they probably mix it with beef meat too. :)

And in the middle of chicken satay, they usually insert chicken skin. You can actually order it with all chicken meat or mixed with the skin

The middle of the Chicken Satay is the chicken skin, not the intestine. For me, I really like the Chicken Satay with the peanut sauce. I hope you enjoy the food here in Indonesia

Yeaaah! Sate Ayam is one of my favourites in Indonesian food too!! It's definitely a must-try when you're in Indonesia 👌🏼
Ooooh yes so good!! 😍😍
Thank you for such a nice video eating the best Indonesian street food 👍
It was soooo good 😍
FYI, Sate Padang is actually made from beef tongue. The texture is slightly different from the beef. The sauce is made from rice flour with obviously some spices. That’s what makes Sate Padang unique. Enjoy our food 😊
Thanks for the info!
Soooooo true!! We completely agree 😍 it’s a brilliant way to get a different and new view of the country or city you’re visiting 😍
yeaaah gotta agree! I do go on street food tours in my travels. I also believe that's how you taste the authentic local food. 👌🏼
Iam enjoy your video love from Indonesia🇮🇩
Thank you!! 😊
Yup youre right ginger milk next level is good for healthy too....tip for you use your magic hand to stop vehicle when you crossing streets....you just raise up your hand they will stop....even in crowded trafic....
It’s so good!!! Oh haha thank you - we will try that!
Oh cool!! Thank you for the info 😍
Indonesia street food Surabaya city .. good job RAWON ..
15:20 that statment make me goosebump 🥶 good choice you order the classic martabak manis kacang & coklat 🥰 when foreigners say "OH WOW" that mean tasty 👍🏼 enjoy Indonesia 🇮🇩 guys
It was sooooo good 😍😍

thanks ❤
Thank you! 😃
Terima kasih banyak telah berwisata di negara kami, aku dari Indonesia bagian timur maluku, semoga harimu menyenangkan, 🎉❤❤
It's a shame you didn't try the cheese, chocolate and peanut ...it's a really perfect combination and at the very top level for martabak manis AKA terang bulan
Hmmmmm ok maybe next time 👀😍
@@2Passports1DreamWell that's right, the combination of chocolate, nuts and cheese is top level.

@@2Passports1Dream Yess but trust me youre gonna love it like everybody does
I think, I'm sure you recorded this video a long time ago.
There are two kind of Sate
Sate ayam Madura with peanut sauce
Sate Padang with some kind of flour ( like jelly sauce ) with spices
😍😍
9:09 in the middle part of satay actually is chicken skin, you can asked for all meat to the seller (abang-abang = mas = big brother) 😊
😍😍
Anda harus explore Taman Mini Indonesia Indah...beautiful place
Or jakarta aquarium, local fishes...
Currently best one is in bintaro... reachable by public rail transit station jurangmangu. The transit station is one with the aquarium mall and double tree hilton 5 star hotel😁
Wow, finally here, you should try to go to petak sembilan, or street food near grand Indonesia and Pancoran PIK,
Even ginger milk in tropical climates is very delicious, what more in cold climates like Europe?😋😋
Yup ginger beer is yummy...like bir pletok yg lupa disimpan dan mulai bersoda.
Oh yes it would be perfect in cold climates too! 😍
Oh I see!! Thank you! 😊
Kami tunggu di Makassar, banyak kuliner lezat dan otentik❤
if you are going to Bandung you should look out for wedang ronde, its dough ball with crushed peanuts inside inside with sweet ginger broth.
Great sharing. Thanks. 👍👍👍😍😍😍
Thank you! Cheers!
3:36 is call "lontong" or Compact rice
You have to try Indonesian fast food, called Richeese Factory. If you like a challenge, try level 5
