1,2,3! You busted this out quick. Im 63 and this is going to be my first gate, I bought a nice Lincoln Welder, so I am going to watch several more videos of yours & hopefully learn enough to build my 2' + 6' swinging gate with metal post. My 2' side will allow me to use the smaller part of the gate as a door & the 6' part will be stationary until I need to park my truck behind the gates.
Nice video. Great tips. Building a 19’ one later this year. Really need to see your installation and how the roller system functions when off the driveway.
Nice work once again from a craftsman who cares about his work. The only suggestion is the rollers used will need replaced one day. They make rollers that are serviceable. I always use them and make my roller post so these can be changed in the future. The way Jimbo made this it’s not easily replaced
I’ll be your helper what the heck. Imagine having a mentor like you geeeeez ! A gem fr and life changing because you are one inspiring welder. Imagine have the knowledge you have at my age. That’s why I can’t wait to finish school and become my own boss like you 👍🏽 Thank you Jimbo for taking your time in uploading such GREAT AND HELPFUL UA-cam videos 🙏🏽💯
Very neat, with any cast steel or iron you will get where it has "chilled " which causes a hard spot....nice to see the lathe investment being covered up.
Really happy to have discovered your channel. It's always a pleasure to watch a real craftsman! Looking forward to exploring to see what other projects you've created, all the best to you.
Very Very Nice Job Jimbo 😀 I was looking at Home Depot and Lowes for a 16' X 6' metal sliding gate and they Want from $2500 to $3500+ for a metal gate, Little to rich for my Blood 😋 and I need to make some 6' x 8' fence panels , HD wants from $700 to $999 per fence Panel, OUCH, I need about 10 fence Panels and one 16 foot gate, about $15000 .00 worth of fences and Gate, I am Way To CHEAP to pay That kind of Money 😂 LOL, So I will have to make my own gate and Fence Panels, I am a Retired Female Fleet Equipment Mechanic and Short Run Metal Fabricator/Welder of 50 Years, Did I mention I Was CHEAP 🤣 Take care and have fun, Keep up the Great Work, Chellie
5:28 when moving forward and put the two size guid timber to weld the next bar if swap the position of each forward and change them to right and left instead of put them just in front , than they all will be parallel with each other right to the end. Also when I compare the way you do the job with the way I do it’s all same except my only tools are a measuring tape , an angle grinder to cut&polish and a small ark welder to weld, I did exactly same job today , installing a lock only on a old metal door , but had to buy the luck and make case for it to install in door with 50mm x50mm hollow square tube frame Any way I love the way you do the jobs and you’ve got an industry, I’ve got to say that 👍
Hi Sir, how didn't realize why that little piece didn't want to be cut, it's because there's a tiny piece of diamond in it. Really like your great job, every nice clean work 👍👍👍
Like your video I also work alone sometimes it's hard but I like my own company I do the same thing when adding the lock if not it goes out of wack before you know it that is nice gate good job
Best is ring around and get quotes ? Then you can work of that remember the big shops have high cost to cover wages ect , unlike your self in your back yard shed ? Buy steel ect you have to cover cost add a % say 15 % then a hourly wage , cover cost of mig wire gas ect , hope that gives you some idea ?
Great no nonsense video . All crucial aspects advised on as you go along . What model of Evolution chop saw are you using . Professional approach is coming through well in this video . A great help for amateurs .
What kind of band saw was that dewalt? Looked like a table with just the saw clamped/mounted in it? Can someone tell how to do that? That looked awesome
Mr. Jumbo! Can you give me a link on where you got the metal rollers on the bottom and the guide rollers on the top! I’m looking to do something similar to this
I am surprised Jimbo hadn't come across this also a few things he has mentioned over time made me raise a Mr Spock eyebrow A prime example is not covering up a brand new lathe....Did my apprenticeship in 1977 in a tool room.
Was just watching your time lapse and commentary about going back and forth. I can't help but think if you sequenced your work a bit differently on the pickets, you could finish the "second weld" on one picket, then place and weld the next picket while on the same side, then finish on the other; stay on that side and set a new one; and so on and so forth. Would halve the amount of trips across the workpiece.
oh no !!! it looks like you welding that hookbolt box in upside down, unless the idea was that the gate opener person was to stoop down to insert key to unlock it... as a 40 year locksmith, i'm quite familiar with these adams-rite and off-shore knock-off hook bolt locks.. in fact, another issue is that those cylinders can easily be wrenched out with vise grips or channel-lock pliers.. there are hardened tapered collars that can go under those cylinders that will prevent that type of attack on that type of lock.also, when that hookbolt direction in the strike is a flip under orientation and aligned with a proper sized and positioned strike, it deters lift from the track and opening.. when it's a flip over orientation, it can be lifted and opened without a key...
The cast iron cap was child to wight cast iron that stuff is harder than tool steel it’s a result of the cast iron cooling off to quickly from casting like heat treating steel
Or have an overhead rail gantry and wear a full body harness with pulley counterweight, then mission impossible hover over the work like sail makers use
I watch this whole video WAITING TO SEE THE INSTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jimbo you set the bar one level higher each project, your an inspiration. Thanks you!
Nice. Thanks for the video I am building a 25 foot rolling gate for my driveway right now.
What gauge/thickness of tubing are you using?
Nice video. Great tips. Building a 19’ one later this year. Really need to see your installation and how the roller system functions when off the driveway.
My dad would be proud of you!!!!
whut ? why not you ?
Nice build Jimbo. Nice to see the use of the red power tool in your shop. I am an employee and thank you for supporting our business. Take care.
welcome back🇧🇭🇺🇸🇧🇭🇺🇸🇧🇭🇺🇸🇧🇭🇺🇸🇧🇭
love your shop. thank for the video

Nice set up there buddy.
Would love to have seen the install part too, awesome tho!!

From Argentina! Good job Jimbo, thanks for your tips! Nice build! Kind regards!
A great video. Explaining what you were doing which made it easy to understand.
What kind of saw blade is on the drop saw?
thats awsome job appreciated for sharing now i will start my gate
Thank you, Jimbo!! Just what I want to make for my property! Great ideas! 👍🏻
Very neat, with any cast steel or iron you will get where it has "chilled " which causes a hard spot....nice to see the lathe investment being covered up.
Another awesome video
Like always, clean!
Very nice! I made one of those for my house bout 20 years ago.
Really happy to have discovered your channel. It's always a pleasure to watch a real craftsman! Looking forward to exploring to see what other projects you've created, all the best to you.
I would be more than happy to be your second welder and lend a hand for any assistance. 😊
Jimbo, Nice Job as always, Thanks.
Good job!👍

Excelente trabajo. De lujo.
Nice work

Excelente trabajo de construcción como nos tienes acostumbrados de esta puerta, felicitaciones y saludos desde Venezuela.
awesome! Gotta build one myself but we have snow.. no rollers possible
Beautiful work! I'm going to get my welder out & make something. :D
nice video thanks jim
Great work Cheers Jimbo
Que bueno que estos vídeos se tradujeran al español.
Jimbo, good stuff, I love your show! Can you make a video about that porta band setup you've got? Looks like a super slick setup. Thanks.
Impressive build Jim, keep up the great work 👍
Ни чё не понял но очень интересно. Очень хорошее оборудование. Красивая работа. Удачи в трудах.
Я уже просил сделать субтитры на русском 🤣🤣🤣
Very nice, greetings from indonesia👍
Good job
awesome, Thanks for the tips
Another awesome video Jimbo! Keep them coming!
nice one.
Hi Sir, how didn't realize why that little piece didn't want to be cut, it's because there's a tiny piece of diamond in it.
Really like your great job, every nice clean work 👍👍👍
Good Job 🦾.
I would like to know in which store I can find that door lock?
great video
Like your video I also work alone sometimes it's hard but I like my own company I do the same thing when adding the lock if not it goes out of wack before you know it that is nice gate good job
Could you make a video on how you go about job estimates / quotes for gates?
Best is ring around and get quotes ? Then you can work of that remember the big shops have high cost to cover wages ect , unlike your self in your back yard shed ? Buy steel ect you have to cover cost add a % say 15 % then a hourly wage , cover cost of mig wire gas ect , hope that gives you some idea ?

That's a nice and clean job..but why you didn't cut at 45° the corners?
You need to have a partner for your project so that you cannot go around to your working table.. A fan of yours from PHL.. Nice job sir jimbo..
Mr. Jumbo! Can you give me a link on where you got the metal rollers on the bottom and the guide rollers on the top! I’m looking to do something similar to this
Chilled iron, cooled too fast in the mold. Almost as hard as carbide.
I am surprised Jimbo hadn't come across this also a few things he has mentioned over time made me raise a Mr Spock eyebrow
A prime example is not covering up a brand new lathe....Did my apprenticeship in 1977 in a tool room.
For the portaband and the cast iron. You want to have a lower TPI blade. Higher TPI will gunk up and just dull.
Nice work lam kerala
I have a curved I need to get around do you have a video on a rolling gate that curves it's less than a 90° angle
Looks like Chapman Hights Golf Course in Yucaipa
What’s up Jimbo, thank you for your videos, quick question what type of paint do you use on these gates? And where can I find it in California?
Hey Jimbo I’m going to be making a set of double driveway gates 6FT with 12FT open what sizes square Metal tubing should I use
I THINK IT WAS A DIAMOND 💎 PIECE THAT DULLED 3x saw blades
How do you keep from getting splatter all over your welding table?
Great question!
Do the layout on top and bottom pieces 1st. Then tack tops 1st then bottoms.
How much did you spend on materials?
Hey ! Cant remember what size is the welding table ?
When you don't go "all the way across" on a weld, don't you have a problem of water getting in and it dripping rust?
Hi, how do you quote these kind of jobs?
Were those caps cast steel or cast iron? How were you able to weld to them no problem if they were cast iron?
deemstyle I weld cast iron/steel to cold rolled or hot rolled daily no problem
Where did you order all the ornamental
Parts ? Jimbo
14" dry cut chop saws.. all 15 amps. Which one do I buy??!
MK Morse 14" $500
Evolution S355CPL $340
Ironton 14" $300
Yo jimbo what’s the max allowed height of a sliding front gate in California?
Hey Jimbo question for you you have a 90 tooth blade in your saw now which do you like better 90 t or 72 t
Im thinking of doing something like that but foldable.
What kind of grinding disc are you using in this vid?
What type of paint you use for the metal fence??
What's the height of the gate?
Parabéns, ótimo trabalho.
Where did you get your table from ??
oh no !!! it looks like you welding that hookbolt box in upside down, unless the idea was that the gate opener person was to stoop down to insert key to unlock it... as a 40 year locksmith, i'm quite familiar with these adams-rite and off-shore knock-off hook bolt locks.. in fact, another issue is that those cylinders can easily be wrenched out with vise grips or channel-lock pliers.. there are hardened tapered collars that can go under those cylinders that will prevent that type of attack on that type of lock.also, when that hookbolt direction in the strike is a flip under orientation and aligned with a proper sized and positioned strike, it deters lift from the track and opening.. when it's a flip over orientation, it can be lifted and opened without a key...
Where do you order your lock for gates?
Flattening your blade? Years in the shipyards this happens from time to time.
Chinese or foreign scrap in the mix, we called that hitting a swirl.
the casting got cold during the casting process it makes the iron go rock hard
8:38 I’d do the wheels the same way you cut the fram to install the lock
What gauge/thickness of tubing is this?
Nice build sir!!! But please make sure you don’t build a gate like that that will be automated in California... the new ul325 codes are ridiculous.
Gate lock link please brother I'm India mm Universal Fabrication workshop
The cast iron cap was child to wight cast iron that stuff is harder than tool steel it’s a result of the cast iron cooling off to quickly from casting like heat treating steel
Hey jimbo try standing on top of the work bench instead of walking like a mile doing that back and forth thing
Just my suggestion to make life easier
Or have an overhead rail gantry and wear a full body harness with pulley counterweight, then mission impossible hover over the work like sail makers use
👍👍👍
That gate wobbly as hell I bet made the fram out of 1x1 smh
👍
Not a pro, but I don't think it's the best way to mount the lock.... What if you have to change it
You may have to charge by the mile.
You lost a tooth or two off the first blade and they stayed in the kerf and dulled that blade and then the next one as well
😁
6:30 if you walk a lot more you would lose the gut and welcome the extra exercise
ترجمة😜
Low cost.
Good job
👍👍
