Thanks so much for this info! I have a newer Garmin like you have in the video (I got it last winter). When I went out for the first time this year my saved #1 combo was there but disappeared after I looked at a different screen and when trying to make the combo preset again on Saturday it kept saying the clear VU was not available for some of the combos that I did have last year. Clear VU would work on some of the combos. Any idea what I might be doing wrong or does the machine need to some how start from scratch again? Thanks
I think I know what you are talking about and I forgot to mention that in the video.
When you create a combo on the water, it will sometimes come up as transmission disabled or sonar not available. Just ignore that message.
Once you hit done it should work as it should
Going crazy here, lol I know this is a old video but how can you show depth on (every) screen you go to? Confusing, but when I have my overlay nymbers set to show, it doesn't seem to show on every screen I bring up... Make sense?
Great information! I know if I'm running side and down view as a combo, they have to be different frequencies, but can I run the higher frequency from my GT56 side vu transom mount and then have the GT54 on the trolling motor using down vu with the higher frequency since they'll be 18' apart as a combo screen. Heck I might not be able to run two separate ducers on the same screen, being a rookie, I hope you'll understand!
Hey Ernie with that setup you will have no issues for a couple of reason. 1 the gt54 in down view only operates in 800khz (I don’t remember the exact frequency) and 2 the distance.
However, you could do the same thing with the gt56 alone. Run the side imaging on 1070 and the down imaging on 810.
But you could make a combo with one screen the 56 and the other screen the 54. The units need to be networked and you have to go into source and pick which screen you want to read from which transducer.

I personally haven’t come across that issue yet, knock on wood. Most of the time it seems to be a faulty connection that’s just not plugged in all the way or the cradle has gone bad to the unit.
Have you got a video on optimal setting for each and colours pallets ?

Great. Can you make a video about how to change the with between the depthlines. My Quickdraw now makes lines at every 1 fot, but I want to change it to 2 or three feet. HELP :)
Unfortunately I’m not sure there is a setting to show the maps in anything other than 1’ contours
You may try to lower the detail setting on the maps.

Question. If you have an issue with your transducer (say clearvu isn't working, but your 2d and sideview are) if you set the Garmin to the "demo" mode will the clearvu still be messed up? or will it show as if it was working fine due to the demo being pre recorded. Seems obvious that it would show as if its fine, but I figured I would ask to see if that's an easy way to troubleshoot the transducer.
The demo mode is pre recorded and will look the same even if the transducer isn’t connected to the unit.
Question, does the 126sv have a blue screen when you choose traditional? Not like the old traditional white scream.
Yes you can change the color scheme to blue

I’m not sure about a combo like that, but you can do a screen overlay that will show the same data. Look at my video “how to display depth on charts” that will show you the process.
As far as mirroring your screen to a IPad that can only be done on GPSMAP units

How are you able to edit these views in your garage. When I do it I can only use down view. Is there a way to use side view in simulation mode?
The same way you create them on the water.

Put the unit into demo mode and then you will be able to add a custom combination

Can you add gps speed to the customized screen?
It should still be in one of the sonar screens, but you can also add a overlay.

Yes you can put live scope as any of the screens in the combo as well

I saw in one video that you can put a vertical flasher on the right side of the screen (not the circle flasher) next to the down view. Thought you would have it on this video so can you explain how to turn it on to the screen or which video it is on, thank you
I think you might be referring to “A-Scope” it’s in the 2d/traditional settings

There is some more dimension to “downview/clearview/down imaging)
Same goes for side imaging.
They are all ways to view 3D space on a 2d screen
