One of my favorite things to do is to spray papers at night and see what happens in the morning. It’s like Christmas. I go to bed, in the morning I run over in excitement. Sometimes I see a change. Other times, I see nothing. My brown packing paper never shows anything. But it does make them kinda crunchy. I think I’m gonna splatter Gesso and gold paint. That should show up. Lol. And I love how you said every time you open Honeys book, you get inspired. ME TOO!! Thank you for opening it and Nadia’s Journal also. I get inspiration from you every time you post. I’m just super grateful that you share your talent with us!♥️♥️♥️
Angela said it perfectly…. I’m glad to see you struggle with decisions as it makes me realize I’m not the only one, but you get much further with your decisions than I do… I’ll get there… thanks for all the inspiration…I look forward to each of your videos, the journals are beautiful and watching you is great!!!!
In Canada, the ‘lunch’ paper is called deli paper, and just a tip, when you change colours in the spray bottle, you have to spray out what is still in the spray bottle tube, then the new colour will be what you expect. I love how harmonious your pages turned out by the way! I am also a bit of a control freak but making journals has really helped me, painting canvases is way more stressful. I am learning so much from watching your channel, both in skills and letting myself just enjoy playing. Can’t wait to see what comes next, you are so much fun!💕🇨🇦
Thank you for experimenting on camera. I can’t tell you how helpful that is. I am new to junk journaling and loving the artistic freedom of it. See you play is all at once a joy and a learning experience. Thank you Barbara. 🤗🙏💝💕 I went to Austria once, years ago and absolutely loved it. (I am from the U.K. 🇬🇧) Beautiful country and lovely people. 😊😁 I would love to go back one day.
You always manage to get it done. I just love watching you go through the processes. What ever they may be. I’m always amazed that it turns out so great. True artist, that’s our Barbara.❤️
I absolutely loved this video. I was sharing it with my husband, showing him how you coffee dye your papers. And telling him how much I appreciate that you actually experiment on camera and show us what worked for you and what didn’t. I think it helps make us all a little more brave to just try new things! So thank you!
I appreciate your process videos very much, and you do give a lot of inspiration, Barbara. I hope you never doubt that. The subtle green leaf stenciling on the crinkled, randomly sized pages, seem just right for an urban nature journal. Your coffee puddles are shaped like amoebas!
Barbara, it was so much fun watching you dye-splatter your papers. The stains almost look like cut geodes to me on your papers. So beautiful!!!!! This journal is going to be so remarkable. I love the idea of using mostly packaging paper. I love that paper. It is so much fun to write on and it is just great to recycle it!!!!! I can hardly wait to see your finished journal!!!!!!
Barbara, thank you so much for taking us along as you think and create. These kinds of videos are so very interesting and inspiring. I can’t wait to see how this journal turns out.
I enjoyed giggling with you while you sprayed your papers. I wanted to remind you each time you changed color to clear out the sprayer in the bottle so that you could try the new color without going through the old color, then the mix of the colors , finally coming to your new mix. You would be almost done spaying all your papers before seeing the new color each time and I would feel so bad for you, but you giggled through it and that made me giggle unsure as well. I think your papers looked fine when all was done. Much better than I was expecting when you mixed yellow brown and green. And you came back to your favorite colors to make them look "right" to you in the end. Art is so subjectable. It really does take on meaning through the eyes of the person viewing it. We all have those colors we love and come back to. I think your art is beautiful. You make bold choices. Sometimes you just have to try something to see if it will work for you. Thanks for the great video and beautiful artwork.
Hi Sweetie, what a wonderful time to see the process of thoughts /struggling / dying your paper and so on... It feels wonderful that I'm not the only one who needs time to figure out how to get the right pages/signatures/colors and embellishments...THANK YOU SO MUCH TO BE BRAVE AND SHARE IT WITH US 🙏🏻 👏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻 Wish you a wonderful weekend ☀️
Randomly beautiful.. Habe ein schönes Wochenende. Hugs Heike
By the way…I like all your papers..they turned out really pretty also with the coffee stain. To let go with the control you could try to lay the papers on top of each while drying. 😀👍 I don’t have the perfection with everything but my bookbinding have to be TOTALLY perfect.when I painted furniture It had to absolutely perfect and that is why I LOVE junk journals 👍😍
I just bought some spray bottles for experimenting with. I've not done it before but after discovering Luise, I've been inspired to step out of my comfort zone. Those circles of colors you got when you sprayed the coffee on the wet paper are what is called "blooms" in watercolor painting. I love them!
Hi Barbara, I'm just catching up with your videos, I have to say I find everything you do so very inspirational. I have now started to try and move away from my 'safe' ephemera style. Thank you so much. Xx
I love watching your thought processes and then just going for it. That's what art is all about, and it's inspiring for people to watch and to learn it's all about having fun and experimenting. I've found the pieces I do without overthinking end up being my favourite ones. I know you don't like those coffee effects but I love them. I can't think what the name is but it does have a name doesn't it? I also love the sounds of all those lovely crinkly papers. I love packaging paper for pages and made a whole journal from them but never thought to spray and stencil the pages. I did some embossing on them for texture but I love what you've done here. Can't wait to see how the journal comes together. Beautiful Barbara x
Wow! I wish you loved these papers as much as I do. Also wishing you had sprayed colors directly without adding to water. Makes me eager to try some new things! Blessings from Ohio, Betty.
I can't believe it - I have just tuned in to watch this, and I have been doing exactly the same today!!! I am sat here in my lounge, surrounded by wet card and paper all over my floor (I put mine on plastic tablecloth). I sprayed mine with a mix of ink and coffee!!! I can't wait for them to dry, then I will add gold paint over a variety of stencils. I love yours, they've turned out beautifully. Take care and have a great weekend. Love your videos. xx
Did you see Louise video of her blindfolded while making Custer's. Talk about not able to be a control freak. She did have to have a few coffees afterwards. It was a wonderful surprise once she was done. I keep telling myself that Art is not protection, it is a gift from your heart and soul.
I love seeing you experiment & all your papers all spread out on the floor! I was thinking so cool ledger paper would bring in the urban grunge look & maybe spray or paint brush strokes of black & or metallic would match some of your other elements. 🥰
That's ok ,love just watching an learning from you, just imagine if we had nothing new to learn in our life , no reason to live ,so me to im learn new things everyday as well🤗😊😘
Just thought I would share a tip I found useful when I wanted to spray my papers, use brusho and water in a spray bottle it's amazing u only need a bit for high colour, I added a bit of glitter spray after if I wanted it shimmering, it works amazing and if you want to get the brush affect honey used I use a large paste brush with acrylic paint and another technique I found works great is a wire brush with paint hope this helps xx
Love how the papers turned out. I’m a control type personality, it’s hard sometimes to just let go, but I’m proud to say that today I totally changed course when I was working on a project. It turned out great, sometimes when I’m struggling on something I’m learning maybe it’s just not suppose to happen that way 🤣🤣. This journal you’re making is going to be spectacular. Thank you again for taking us with you as you’re making it!
This journal is going to be beautiful. I love the shimmer on the pages and I had to order some salvaged patina ink from Amazon because it is so beautiful! Looking forward to seeing what's next!
It’s a great start Barbara! Your pages look gorgeous...I’m so impressed by how you create these beautiful patterns. I’m so looking forward to watching your progress. 🥰❤️
I really enjoyed this process video. After I saw Hanni's (honey?) journal when you showed it before I was inspired to make a similar one myself. I love all the sounds and textures I have in that journal. It's become a therapy tool for me in that it helps me to calm the anxiety I get at times. I showed my journal to someone and now they want me to make one for their daughter. I'm so happy you are making these process videos as they will help me in this requested journal. I also had to laugh out loud when you said that flower bored you! Hilarious....I look forward to the rest of this series.
Hello Barbara, the papers are lovely, even those you do not really like, they are still super, very subtle and pastley (is that a word??). Love the combinations. I think that the Urban Nature Journal is going to be awesome. Looking forward to the adventure of seeing it being done. Thank you for sharing and for the inspiration always. Blessings and hugs from Cape Town. Diana
Give me spray bottles of goodness, a large floor and splatter goodies and I can have a really fun day. I like your papers. You’ll come up with something fantastic.
Barbara the crazy craft scientist... I LOVE THIS. Please do more experiments on video. You may not realize how much this is needed for we beginners. Thank you so much. Now I do want to know if the oxides will react to any liquids you might use on a page later. ❣️
So funny to see what you are making..I absolutely LOVE your videos, don’t ever change ❤️ When I dyed my papers I have 1 water and 2-3 paint and I only use acrylic or very pigmented dyes. I was lucky to find some liquid paint very pigmented. Some times I use green or blue food coloring..but always very little water. I color my papers on my bathroom floor. First because it is easy to clean and 2. We have heating in the floor so my papers dry very fast.👍 If it is a small piece I have a box I put the paper in..I have tried to get paint everywhere 😂😂OH G…what a mess and it took me days to clean..it was EVERYWHERE 🤣🤣 never again 👍😀 Tina 👩🏻🎨 Denmark 🇩🇰 🌸
Maybe if you use a small blade and scrape your water colors dry and add the powder to the water it would work better. I know the Derwent intense blocks can be used that way. I think they came out nice Barbara. And I also like that you use stencils more. I think they are really under used in journals. 🙂
I had no water colors and watching all the videos I opted to buy some then I saw video of someone doing this so I opted to buy them in tube. Hopefully I get same results and they are as good as your pallets
These papers turned out gorgeous!👍👍 Thanks for being the brave one! You made this look super fun and now I want to try it.🥰 I don't mind those circles at all. They remind me of tie dye.
Hello Barbara I love your personality, so cute. I love the coffee spots on that paper it gives it character and grudge. Love it. And I like what you did to the other papers too.
Learning is fun, not knowing is an opportunity for fun. Food colouring would be easier, or powdered colour 🙊. the word is 'wicking ' when the colour migrates to the edges 😁. I don't have much luck with sprays, or powdered colour either 🙈. I'm a total control freak😄 and procrastinator 🙈. Love watching your process! Tfs and have a great weekend 💖💖
I try not to get someone else's results...I try to make all my own ...that way I am never disappointed but always surprised. I think the paper came out nice.
Looking great! Love how your spray turned out to be a color you love! It inspires me to play around with different backgrounds when you make videos like these!
Very pretty..I have many bottles of Tim Holtz spray stains and it’s time to play! We are having a snow storm here today and I must confess, I rather like not being able to go anywhere! Thanks for sharing. 💕💕
I love the start of your choice of papers. Very appropriate for your Urban feel. Maybe some newsprint splattered with one neutral color like the ones you love in Hanni’s journal. I am a moderate control freak but these papers are perfect grunge for me. Looking forward to your next step. 😍😍
I loved this video Barbara. I want to make a journal with different sizes of paper and I also want to decorate my papers. This was perfect! Thank you so much. Xx
What beautiful papers! Love the different colors - I've been looking for how to do something different than just using coffee and tea. And those coffee spots you didn't like...to me they look like pretty oysters! Thanks for this video; so many great tips! (That leaf stencil you used with the rusty hinge..wow!) Cheers from Denver CO!
Your white paper is Deli paper, the brown wax paper is wax paper (in the states it is generally white). We then have parchment - what we'd bake cookies on. Freezer paper is white and coated on one side maybe what your brown one is? I haven't used freezer paper in forever. It has a glossy coating from what I remember, not waxy. Maybe someone from the states can send samples....ha ha.
Hi, I'm just in process of tea dying some papers, I might be inspired to add some colours with stencils like you have. I don't know either what cover or binding to go for, think sometimes we need to leave it for a while. I like your coloured papers, the blues and greens look good. Some gold splatters are a good idea too. Urmmmm
One of my favorite things to do is to spray papers at night and see what happens in the morning. It’s like Christmas. I go to bed, in the morning I run over in excitement. Sometimes I see a change. Thanks Angela! I can totally relate about the excitement! 😃
Thanks so much! ❤️
Who knew what could be done with parchment paper?!?💕 Beautiful, and I love the crunchy sound! I look forward to your videos! TFS 🤗

Great to watch the papers come to life as you add colour and stencil’s. Looking forward to seeing what comes next for the pages. Xx
I love how honest you are and that you share your experiments. Have a great day💜
I love those spots that you do not care for…just shows everyone has different artistically taste…great video series 💕
I thought the papers came out so beautifully! Thanks for showing us your process on how to achieve such gorgeous paper.

I can highly recommend using food colouring for the spray bottles, I usually mix mica powder with mine and the sparkly effect you get is amazing 😍
Wow !! Really??? I have some and will definitely try !!! Thanks 😊
Thanks so much for the tip! ❤️

I clicked so fast when I saw the video! I've been intrigued with this journal concept through the entirety of december
They look totally yummi! And what lovely crinkly sounds! ☆

I can't believe it - I have just tuned in to watch this, and I have been doing exactly the same today!!! How fun! I’m sure yours will be beautiful as well! 😃❤️
Thank you for the inspiration Barbara.greetings from Holland. Loving to see the process
Did you see Louise video of her blindfolded while making Custer's. Talk about not able to be a control freak. She did have to have a few coffees afterwards. It was a wonderful surprise once she was done. I keep telling myself that Art is not protection, it is a gift from your heart and soul.
Yes, it’s so true! ❤️
I love seeing you experiment & all your papers all spread out on the floor! I was thinking so cool ledger paper would bring in the urban grunge look & maybe spray or paint brush strokes of black & or metallic would match some of your other elements. 🥰
Thanks so much Jennifer! I appreciate your tips! ❤️
Fun watching your process. I love Honey's journal, and want to make my own. Looking forward to the next steps.
Enjoyed video. Loved watching the process. The outcome of the papers are beautiful. It was very helpful to me. Thank you for sharing.
They came out great! Honestly- I think they’d look great with black and gold splatters…not joking… 😁

I love how it's looking so far, I can't wait to see how amazing it looks once it's done. 💜
This is a great video. I love that you are showing your process. I loved all the papers and how the spraying came out.
I totally appreciate you sharing your thoughts and processes on what papers to go in your journal .. this is my biggest problem in journal making 🙃 😅
Beautiful painty papers and fun process! TFS the inspiration!

I always get inspired when I’m watching your videos!
Can’t wait to see the next video for this journal 😍😍❤️❤️
I know you said you didn't like the blobs of coffee on the partially wet paper but I think they look like cute avocados. I really enjoy your process
How many video's do you put out a week? I miss seeing you everyday, 😊😘🌞🌻🌻
I publish 3 videos a week 😊
Hello Barbara I love your personality, so cute. I love the coffee spots on that paper it gives it character and grudge. Love it. And I like what you did to the other papers too.

I don't have much luck with sprays, or powdered colour either 🙈. I'm a total control freak😄 and procrastinator 🙈. Love watching your process! Tfs and have a great weekend 💖💖
Loving this so far!!😍
The papers are just perfect for your urban nature journal Barbara!
Loving the process ❤️
Great start.
Love that you went for it...your papers are beautiful!! 😘💟
I try not to get someone else's results...I try to make all my own ...that way I am never disappointed but always surprised. I think the paper came out nice.
These papers look beautiful! I can tell you don’t have a dog - mine would have a field day if I spread papers all over the floor like that! 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Looking great! Love how your spray turned out to be a color you love! It inspires me to play around with different backgrounds when you make videos like these!
Thanks Tonya! That’s great! Have fun! 😃❤️
Very colorful and cool papers....love the way you do things...your style.....😻
Can’t wait to play around with these ideas!
I’m going to experiment with my acrylic pour paints & coffee 🥳
Have fun! 😃❤️
Thank you for taking us on this journey. I've been wanting to make a journal like this.
If you had a tube of that first color it would work great
Very pretty..I have many bottles of Tim Holtz spray stains and it’s time to play! We are having a snow storm here today and I must confess, I rather like not being able to go anywhere! Thanks for sharing. 💕💕
Thanks! Have fun! 😃❤️
I love the start of your choice of papers. Very appropriate for your Urban feel. Maybe some newsprint splattered with one neutral color like the ones you love in Hanni’s journal. I am a moderate control freak but these papers are perfect grunge for me. Looking forward to your next step. 😍😍
Thanks so much Marsha! ❤️
I think these papers are scrumptious!
I loved this video Barbara. I want to make a journal with different sizes of paper and I also want to decorate my papers. This was perfect! Thank you so much. Xx
Thanks! Have fun with yours! ❤️
Thanks so much Deb! ❤️
Very cool experiment.. and loving the cover TFS 👍
Thanks for your info! ❤️
Urmmmm
