Also, apart from Arnold being the absolute amazing Terminator, Michael Biehn killed it as Reese. He was the heart of the film. I mean the delivery of that line "It can't be bargained with, it can be reasoned with...". Just epic.
His performance was excellent. But that said, I was always amused this is what the machines chose as a covert infiltration robot. A massive dude with an Austrian accent and muscles so massive that they are damn near impossible to get even with pre-apocalyptic gym equipment and steroids. Blends in perfectly!
Kinda depressing to think that the audience identifies with the villain. Even as a kid, I thought Kyle Reese embodied everything I wanted to be as a man. And Michael Biehn really "became" that character. Reese is still Mike's favorite character of all he's played.
Arnold always has a sense of humor about his acting, it's very refreshing. Also Good Call on Yul Bryner/original Westworld, very few special effects, but his acting really sold the the Android concept!
That right there just bumped my opinion of him as an actor. I’m pleased to see that he looks deep at a character’s perspective and uses that insight to inform a portrayal.
Best decision he’s made in his film career. Arnold is and will always be my favorite actor. I know he isn’t the best actor by any stretch but he knew the roles he was able to do and did them great. He has a ton of classics. One of a kind. I’m 28 now but have watched his movies since i was around 7.
I'd love to see Arnold make his own movie, ground up. I mean obviously he'd hire people like writers and directors, but I mean be the real creative vision behind it. I bet it'd be shockingly good.
Listen, and understand. OJ is out there. He can’t be bargained with. He can’t be reasoned with. He doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.
One of the most epic lines ever. That movie was incredible. One of my favorite scenes is how Reese had to wait until the Terminator made a move on Sarah Connor in the nightclub because he didn't know what he looked like.
I never would have thought Terminator could have been a shitty movie but it absolutely was before Arnold spoke about it having to be a machine not a person and eventually playing it and having more dialogue.
He was perfect for The Terminator role but I don't think he would've been as good as Michael Biehn as Kyle Reese. Reese had to just be a regular guy from the future while with Arnie's size he would be hard to believe as some guy just a part of the resistance.
I'm picturing Arnold as Kyle Reese and all that's coming to mind is Commando and Running Man. The world wasn't ready for leading man Arnold at the time.
A lot of credit should obviously go to James Cameron for creating such an intense, often times, unnerving thriller. But I can't imagine anyone besides Arnold playing that role now. He was perfect and he should get his due for being such a scary, physical presence on screen. That's what it called for and he delivered the goods. OJ? What a joke that would have been.
I'm just amazed that Arnold did the Howard Stern show, even when he was starting to become one of the biggest actors in the world. He is always a great guest! The other crazy is that, Arnold was 68 here........ Holy crap! He looks the exact same as he did in the 70s.
You know Cameron would have made it work with OJ who could have gone on to be a major actor afterwards. Who knows how things would have played out in that timeline.
vsboy 25 Supposedly Lance Henrikson was the one who actually landed the role, but at the last minute was given to Arnold. Henrikson evidently showed up on set in character moody and stone faced complete with leather jacket. Cameron gave him the role as police detective afterward. Personally I think under Cameron’s direction, Henrikson would have made a fine android from the future! 😉💥
Ironically he now has to play a machine with Emotions alongside a human with none in the new movie. It's gonna suck, but I am interested in what he can do with the role.
Whaaaaat?? So, lemme see if I understand this: Here we have Arnold Schwarzenneger who had so many excellent ideas on how to perform on screen as a killing robotic machine and yet he wanted to play Kyle Reese instead then after this long discussion with mr. Cameron he was the one who suggested he should play as terminator?? What a crazy crazy world!! lol XD.......I would like to see a crazy version of that alternate movie directed by Quentin Tarantino with Samuel Jackson as the Terminator.......XD XD XD
Some people are destined for certain things. Arnold was destine to be the terminator. He trained his whole life and never knew why. It was to look like the robot human killer time traveler.
"Don't worry about killing all of those people, you're a machine. " perfect role for OJ.
D Clay
My exact thoughts. He was the Terminator in real life. 😢
Oh!!! 2015
They said OJ was too nice, nobody thought he could kill anyone
U won the internet sir
mcmcdic
He can't.
Also, apart from Arnold being the absolute amazing Terminator, Michael Biehn killed it as Reese. He was the heart of the film. I mean the delivery of that line "It can't be bargained with, it can be reasoned with...". Just epic.
Arnold is the Perfect Terminator ❤️ ❤️
His performance was excellent. But that said, I was always amused this is what the machines chose as a covert infiltration robot. A massive dude with an Austrian accent and muscles so massive that they are damn near impossible to get even with pre-apocalyptic gym equipment and steroids.
Blends in perfectly!
The scene in the club when he 1st sees sara connor.. the way Arnold moves etc.. looked so robotic it was ridiculous.... nobody could do it but Arnold
I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s such a chilling and spectacular scene. Gets me every time.
Oh yeah you are right!
Arnold playing the cyborg in T1 is one of the scariest characters in movies history, wouldn't have worked without his presence and facial's features.
Nicola Ferrari i hate how he blinks when he shoots in the first one
Such a great interview. I love how Arnold was so passionate about the character.
I don't know about OJ's skills with firearms but put a knife in his hand and he completely transforms.
I wanna watch it again now for the 800th time. Rip Franco
Stern: He's a robot
Arnold:Cybernetic organism
Arnold as Kyle Reese would've turned Terminator into a damn parody film
What??? Arnold always played the good guy in the movies
James Cameron was absolutely right when he said the Terminator is the star. Kyle is nowhere near as recognisable as the Terminator
@Sauron Merciful That's also why casting a hulking Jai Courtney was so absolutely terrible miscasting in that Genisys abortion.
I love all the details he mentioned. He clearly was the right choice.
RIP to Franco Columbu who was also in The Terminator.
During that flashback scene, right?
As a Terminator
@@Excalibur2112 yesir. A flashback to the future.
my favorite movie of all time, he was born for that role
That right there just bumped my opinion of him as an actor. I’m pleased to see that he looks deep at a character’s perspective and uses that insight to inform a portrayal.
Best decision he’s made in his film career. Arnold is and will always be my favorite actor. I know he isn’t the best actor by any stretch but he knew the roles he was able to do and did them great. He has a ton of classics. One of a kind. I’m 28 now but have watched his movies since i was around 7.
The 7 dislikes are from a T-1000
and the T-X, T-3000 and Skynet
what a horrible comment, if ever i saw one.
Arnold is a perfect action star. Never gets credit for his genius.
He is by far the best action movie actor of all time. No question.
True Lies
I think the millions and millions of dollars Arnold earned shows he got a little credit
Dude is a legend
I'd love to see Arnold make his own movie, ground up. I mean obviously he'd hire people like writers and directors, but I mean be the real creative vision behind it. I bet it'd be shockingly good.
OJ as the Terminator. LOL. He is INDEED the Terminator in real life.
So true because no one seems to care about all the people he killed just like arnold as the terminator
If you study the case better you'll see OJ didn't do it- but he sure knows who did.
White guys with backpacks and small dicks Haha I take your black?
LOOKOUT
Listen, and understand. OJ is out there. He can’t be bargained with. He can’t be reasoned with. He doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.
Terminator made Schwarzenegger. Conan was good, but I am absolut4ely in love with 1 and 2. Thanks for this interview Howard. Memories last a lifetime.
Yeah T1 and T2 are legendary masterpieces.
Yup, 1 and 2 are two of my favorite action/sci-fi movies of all-time.
Doesn't matter if it's the 100th time im watching T1 or T2 or even Predator 1. If it's on TV, i drop the remote.
Just watched the first two movies after seeing this clip... I love Howard and Arnold both, they're legends
Beautiful acting advice, never saw him as this insightful. I’ve learned
I always loved this studio camera angle that shows Howard mostly hidden behind all his monitors and mic
Man, Arnold hits the nail on the head why the new Terminators seem so non-threatening. They are TOO human like.
I like how passionate he is about the performance of acting like a machine
One of the most epic lines ever. That movie was incredible. One of my favorite scenes is how Reese had to wait until the Terminator made a move on Sarah Connor in the nightclub because he didn't know what he looked like.
OJ during his sentencing for armed robbery: "I'll be back".
No one else could have embodied the Terminator like Arnie. No one else could have embodied Kyle Reese like Michael Biehn.
Quite possibly the very difference between the movie being a total flop and being what it is today.
I love stories like this
That was great! I had no idea Arnold was originally going to be Kyle Reese!
If Arnold had been Kyle Reese, the movie would have tanked for sure. Cameron knew what he was doing. 👍
Lol OJ as the terminator. The terminator would have never worked without Arnold Schwarzenegger
Mike Collison I think OJ still could've played the T1000 in T2 though
All Time Classic Movie
OJ Simpson was good at assembling guns in the naked gun movie.
Especially the second one. XD
Cant wait for November!!!!!
Would be so surreal to go to another universe where Arnold played the Kyle Reese role...Seeing that film would be mindblowing.
It's so interesting how famous movie moments came to be
That look Arnold Schwarzenegger gave as a Terminator sealed the deal.
No offense to the other actor's who were going to play The Teminator. But Arnold was the BEST pick to play that role.
I'm just amazed that Arnold did the Howard Stern show, even when he was starting to become one of the biggest actors in the world. He is always a great guest! The other crazy is that, Arnold was 68 here........ Holy crap! He looks the exact same as he did in the 70s.
O.J. as Terminator: "Look OUT!"
I like that Arnold was thinking about all this back then.
What a man!
Arnold looking young again wow!!!!!!
Howard stern has really good chemistry with arnold!!!
*Arnold is my hero good guy and bad guy in the movies!* ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
If O.J would've played the Terminator, the movie would've went straight to VHS.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a fucking badass I love this man.
OJ’s lucky he never took that Terminator role or else we’d all think of him as a killer
This deserves so many more likes man
I fucking love Arnold! My childhood hero, but for what he did in the gym and on the big screen.
Arnold should go back to the bad terminator one more time. I think that would put the franchise back to where was.
then that would mess up part 2
I can scarcely think of a more perfect fit for a role. And in the first movie, he is a truly terrifying presence.
ThAt is how legends are born kiddies :)
So cool . 😍
love arnold....rip franco
Lance henriksen was supposed to be the Terminator, the studio wanted OJ for the role
Imagine a naked OJ being sent from the future lol. "Give me your jackets and your boots." Lol
Good one!
Lmao Arnold wanted some iconic line like get in da choppa
Love it
Such a great iconic role! Wonder who will take Arnold's role when the inevitable reeboot/remake happens.
Him being Kyle would have been ridiculous. Cameron made a good choice.
Helll yes
Arnold!!!! :-)
“Hold my Beer”
-Orenthal James Simpson
See I knew Arnold was a true thespian, a serious actor! 😂😂😂
You know Cameron would have made it work with OJ who could have gone on to be a major actor afterwards. Who knows how things would have played out in that timeline.
OJ the IRL terminator.
Arnold: I did not want to play Conan, I auditioned for Subotai!
T1 and T2 are all time great sci-fi classics but the rest of the sequels are trash
T3 wasn’t bad except for the new John Conner.
Wonder if there is any footage of Arnold playing Kyle Reese
I absolutely love the story that studio execs didn't think O.J. could play a remorseless killer...
Lance henricksen was also cast for being into the role and caracter of thé terminator
Dear god can you imagine those others playing that role
vsboy 25
Supposedly Lance Henrikson was the one who actually landed the role, but at the last minute was given to Arnold. Henrikson evidently showed up on set in character moody and stone faced complete with leather jacket. Cameron gave him the role as police detective afterward. Personally I think under Cameron’s direction, Henrikson would have made a fine android from the future! 😉💥
Hilarious. Good stuff.
Ironically he now has to play a machine with Emotions alongside a human with none in the new movie. It's gonna suck, but I am interested in what he can do with the role.
They wanted OJ as the Terminator but he ended up becoming a real Life Terminator.
He only needed one line. "I'll be back."
What’s Arny talking about lol, he wanted more lines?
In his case... less is more.
Stern respects Arnold
I don't think anyone else could've pulled off what Arnold did for Terminator
Wow
I was just watching some Terminator videos
I came through time for you Sarah Connah
Arnold the guy with a thicker German/Austrian accent then he when he came here in 1968.
Arnie is my dude!
I bet OJ would kill to go back in time
OJ Simpson as the Terminater 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣😂😁🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣🤣
Give dees peepull eeyah!
The Terminator is on youtube for free
Mel Gibson would have been amazing, imagine the crew cut, dead stare, would have been awesome.
The headline should say he stole the part from OJ because he was supposed to be Reese
O.J. was *_pissed_* that Arnold Schwarzenegger got the role...
Some people are destined for certain things.
Arnold was destine to be the terminator. He trained his whole life and never knew why. It was to look like the robot human killer time traveler.
