Honestly, that Youngling had it coming for taunting Anakin by calling him "Master." Bullying should never be tolerated.
😆🤣
🤣
😂😂😂
Accurate. Justice was served.
LMFAO!!!!!! 😂
The creator George Lucas always said Star Wars is about the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker and his redemption at the hands of his son.
In more general terms, a man who is saved by his children.
Which is only 1 reason why eps 7-9 are hot garbage.
Fun Fact: The actor who plays Emperor Palpatine is the OG from Return of the Jedi (1983). Ian McDiardmid. Who Anakin/Darth Vader throws down the chasm thing. He was wearing a lot of makeup, but it's the same actor, so if you listen to his voice, you definitely recognize him. Wild, right?!!
Iconic! I love his performance.
But not the OG from the Empire Strikes Back, who was an altered character and voiced by Clive Revill.
@@NandR Cool too, they even racked up the creep factor and gave Pap chimp 👀
When Padme was buried, you can see the huge belly. They tried to cheat the Emperor, looking like she had died pregnant.
And it worked because the Emperor nor Anakin couldn't sense that Padme gave birth before she passed. The inconsistencies of the Jedi's and Sith's power is annoying, full of plot holes and clearly plot driven.
@@lirpa2300 Jedi/Sith aren't all knowing. They can't sense if someone gives birth on a totally different planet. Anakin might have been able to but at the time eh was in agonizing pain being put into a mechanical suit...
Mathematically speaking, Anakin did bring balance in the galaxy
He reduced the Jedi to two major players, Yoda and Obi-Wan and he took his place by Sidious as the two Sith in power
More Jedi survived the order. Darth Vader's apprentice hunted them down before switching after Vader and the Emperor betrayed him and he became a key player in starting the rebellion
I don't think of it the same way. In various religions (which the Jedi/Sith can be considered religion, and Lucas was heavily inspired by various religions when creating Star Wars) the word "balance" means "harmony". Harmony is the opposite of Chaos. When there is no more chaos and upheaval, there is balance. So it's not that there are two sith, two jedi to balance the scales...it's that the force will be in balance when peace and harmony are restored.
No he brought balance, it just took 20 years. He came through at the end. Because he was never gone. He's always been there, he never became Vader, as much as he wanted to. He couldn't let go
The jedi had been had been infected with darkness over the centuries and when the sith started to manipulate life itself through the force a total takeover of darkness was imminent so the force created Anakin as a clean slate program,,,,burn it all down,,,start anew,,,,,,,so the jedi did misread the prophecy,,,they missed the part where they have to go along with the sith
Mathematically speaking 😂
I opened UA-cam saying I hope there’s something good to watch and yay! Been waiting for this.
reminds me of that old invention 'tv'
I said the same thing 😂
Literally 😂
"Liquid hot magma" 😂
Yet they didn't have sharks with freakin' laser beams attached to their heads. Palpatine couldn't even afford mutated sea bass.

Like Dr.Evil once said
@@GoUtes92Very ill-tempered sea bass!
It's hilarious that we all universally immediately read that in Dr. Evil's voice...ROTFLMAO!!!
*Revenge Of The Sith is my absolute favorite out of the prequels. The double climactic lightsaber duel that takes place toward the end of the movie, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader VS Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar and Yoda VS Emperor Palpatine on Coruscant in the Senate chamber are top-notch across the board. Musical score, fight choreography, visual effects, audio effects and emotional impact. I give them all an A+.*
Me too. Especially my brother.
Agreed!
Anakin's journey to the dark side was heavily influenced from behind the scenes by the Emperor. His mother's torture and death, etc. all orchestrated to turn him.
You both understood when Palatine said its possible to create life with the force, hence Anakin born with no father.
Wasnt it Darth Plagues that creates anakin in one of the novels? I may be misremebering
Who is Palatine?
@@bertweezmansack1420 I’m pretty sure he tries but fails, the force created anakin as a reaction to plageus trying to create life
@@bertweezmansack1420 Yeah, the Force made Anakin in the Darth Plagueis novel.
More recent lore in comics has played with the idea... including Vader's fear that this was how he was made (by Plagueis) but the Force making him, has not yet been contradicted.
@@jimhalpert8996😭😭😭
Qui Gonn spirit taught Obi Wan to become a force ghost, (at the end of the movie Yoda said to Obi that someone returned from the netherworld of the force). In all those years in solitude in Tatooine Obi Wan learnt it. That´s why he told Vader in episode IV: "if you strike me down, I´ll become more powerful that you can possibly imagine".
That's such a retcon. I think GL originally wanted Qui Gonn to not fade away because he wasn't in the right state when he died. But because everyone was confused he changed it to be like "oh, I meant to do that. He's still a good guy."
Yeah so happy for this reaction
a key note about being a jedi "master".... the Masters are allowed full access to the Jedi libraries and knowledge about the force. Some of these teachings/writings/documents about the force are not open to all Jedi and the Rank of Master allows you more access. So Anakin being put on the Jedi Council and Palpatine insinuating that Anakin will be a Master gives Anakin hope that he can finally search the libraries full inventory for ways to save Padme. He is desperate to save her from death, have his child, and be a Jedi Master. Basically, he wants it all and he wants it all now.
Yup. "I'm not the Jedi I should be. I want more."
Sounds like the Masons.
Star Wars Rogue One is actually really good and it takes place before Episode 4: A New Hope
37:26 "Liquid hot MAG-MA!" 🤣🤣🤣
You guys are truly one of the best if not the best reactors on youtube. You actually focus on the plot and the details of the film and don't miss anything by talking over vital parts. Keep up the good work!

Ewan McGregor is also excellent in Doctor Sleep.

Funfact: Anakin tried exactly the same move, Obi wan used, to chop Darth Maul in Ep1
That's why Obi wan said, dont try it
He knows the chances to perform it successfully, when the aponent is not surprised, are around 0,0000001%
Never tell him the odds.
Anakin also used the move that he used to successfully sever Count Dooku's hands, and Obi-Wan parried it perfectly, putting Anakin briefly on the defensive.
@@WelshPolitoProject true
Love how SW even use the fight choreography, as a detail layer of story telling
I'm sorry, but "aponent"?
the entertainment that was happening when Anakin and Palpatine were talking was an aqua ballet named Squid Lake, a parody of the Russian ballet, Swan Lake
The species performing are from an aquatic planet named Mon Cala
That’s cool, I never knew that.

"Deliver this message to the Chancellor. His reaction will give us a clue to his intentions." Ha, yeah something like that.

Actually the prophesy was that he would bring balance to the force.
If you think of the last 3 episodes he does bring balance as luke causes him to turn away from the dark side and kill the sith lord
I would watch Rogue One next. Because it is after this one and before episode 4 (the first movie released).
How did yall not show Vader walking up to the temple with the troops? The most badass part of the movie.
Right… and they skipped Vaders first breath too
29:00 Mace Windu is the second most powerful Jedi in the Order. He uses a light saber fighting style that is aggressive and dips almost into the Dark Side.
So him going up against Palpatine was almost an even match
23:23 "I've been trained in your... _Jedi_ arts."
Let me point out a detail in what he just said that is often misunderstood. He said, "I've been trained in your... _Jedi_ arts." He did _not_ say, "I've been trained as a _Jedi,"_ because he _hasn't_ been. General Grievous doesn't have the Force. He's a good strategist and a feared Jedi hunter, and his cybernetic enhancements make him fast, but because he doesn't have the Force, he's _absolutely_ no match for Obi-Wan, even with four lightsabers to Obi-Wan's one.
Obi-Wan: "You could have done this?"
*Anakin slaughters Poggle The Less into half*
I credit you for connecting Chancellor Palpatine to the Emperor with the last movie. The Emperor was never actually named in the OT, and when it was filmed, Ian Mcdiarmid would have been 39, and had a lot of make-up prosthetics. In TPM he would have been 58, 60 when this was filmed, and for the most part, no make-up. It was always really interesting to me how that worked out, that he was able to play younger Palpatine when he was older.
Credit due, McDiarmid still gets into a soundbooth for Palpatine, as he popped up in a season 3 Bad batch appearance, and while VAs like Sam Witwer does a good Palps, Ian is the original.
The Part where Darth Sidious says "Darth Vader will become more powerful than either of us" now you know the reason why Vader never became as powerful lost half of his body in a duel with Obi-Wan. many Midi-chlorian lost.
Let's say that a Jedi is basically a monk. Maybe let go for mere mortals is hard but supposedly they were trained and teach to that. Besides, I think Yoda is right. To know how to let go is a "must have" ability because we aren't owner of nothing and, more important, nobody in this life.
Chancellor in the prequels and emperor in the original series is the same actor.
Ian McDiarmid
Now you can watch Spaceballs and Fanboys. One is a parody and the other is the ultimate fan tribute film and includes cameo's from several original cast members. I think you'll love them both
The Clone Wars animated series does a great job of filling in all the missing pieces between episodes 2 and 3.
"Do it."
"DO IT!"
Palpatine is the Master of Manipulation!
Of course, he is.
Dew it*
The main reason the Jedi Council did not make Anakin a Jedi Master is because while Anakin was a master of the Force, he was not a master of himself and his emotions.
The Jedi Council could sense the dark side surrounding the Chancellor. They did not suspect the Chancellor because he was already the leader of the Republic.
Instead, they remembered what Dooku had told Kenobi on Geonosis. He said many Senators were under the influence of a Sith Lord.
The Jedi Council suspected someone in the Chancellor’s inner circle was the Sith Lord. THIS is what the Jedi Council wanted Anakin to observe, not directly spy on the Chancellor.
The last time Obi-Wan and Anakin spoke on friendly terms, Obi-Wan told him that it would not be long before the Jedi Council made Anakin a Jedi Master.
Assigning Anakin to observe the Chancellor was a test of his loyalty. Was Anakin more committed to the Chancellor or the Jedi? Anakin passed the test when he reported his findings to Master Windu
I believe Master Windu told Anakin to wait for him in the Jedi Council chambers because Master Windu wanted to convene the Jedi Council and elevate Anakin to the rank of Jedi Master.
"Only a Sith deals in absolutes."
"Do or do not. There is no try."
When it comes to yoda he was just pushing back the lighting back to the emperor. Mace did with his lightsaber. Mace windu of course really did beat the emperor and was to weak at that moment but anakin skywalker help in the end.
Darth Vader: "Where is Padme?"
Jyn: "Dead."
Me: "Lol, gottem."
😂😂
I feel like Vader didn't intentionally kill Padme. He was able to crush people's throats by lifting up a finger in the originals. He even said "she was alive i felt it". Sidious telling him he killed her was a lie designed to destroy the last bit of humanity and hope inside of him so the only thing he has left is Palpatine and the Empire. All that changed when Luke cane into his life as he had someone he could love again.
I’ve been looking forward to this
Your reaction to Palpatine being fake and 'weak' in front of Mace Windu and Anakin is the same thoughts I had when I saw this back in theaters. Palpatine was wanting Anakin to do it, and take out Master Windu. He "threw" that duel with Mace Windu because he felt Anakin's conflict. That by appearing weak and helpless, he forced Anakin to make a choice. That smile when Anakin cut of Mace Windu's hand shown his true intentions worked.
Another happy reaction.
A neat parallel is when Master Windu said ''he's(Palpatine) too dangerous to be left alive!''. Remember at the start of the movie? Palpatine said the same thing about Dooku when justifying his execution. However true that might be for both situations, Master Windu would never have accepted it. Now, Anakin has to watch Windu say and do the same thing he'd expel Anakin for.
There is an animated video on UA-cam that shows what life could have been like for Anakin and Padme had he stayed at the Temple as Windu ordered.
With Palpatine out of the way, Anakin disclosed to the order that they were married. The Jedi supported the marriage and let him remain in their ranks.
Eventually Anakin grew older and wiser with a loving wife and many children at his side. At end of the video, he succeeds Yoda as the Grand Master of the Jedi.
So sad to think of how it could have been.
46:29 Many fans believe that Palpatine reached into the Force and used Padme’s link to Anakin again her. He drew the life out of her to keep Anakin from dying.
That’s why she is just fading away.
Grievous is a cyborg, not a droid. He was a Kaleesh warlord that was VERY sour when the Jedi intervened in a war his people started against a neighboring people called the Huk and defeated them, and the head of the Banking Clan conspired to present him as a gift to Dooku as a general for their armies (as he was a brilliant strategist and would have won that war if not for the Jedi). He had a bomb placed on Grievous' shuttle when he was returning home to Kalee to aid his people against a renewed assault by the Huk, which caused his shuttle to crash and severely injured him. Dooku had him rebuilt with cybernetic implants, which over time ended up becoming more and more of his body, until only his heart, lungs, eyes, and brain remained. The implant irritated his lungs, hence the coughing.
Really loved the reaction
Balance of the Force is returning it to it's pure form, which can only be done by the destruction of the Sith, ensuring the Dark Side will never be a dominating power in the galaxy. Anakin fulfilled the prophecy when he killed the Emperor, bringing an end to the Sith line.
Fun fact: this is the first Star Wars movie I’ve seen in the theaters when, I was 8 years old.
Revenge of the sith is My favorite star wars am so happy you girls are finally watching it May the Force be with you always 😊
“A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it”
- Jean de la Fontaine
It's called destiny after all. From "destination", the only one. There is no "other road" to the only destinsation.
Great Reaction ladies. The Emporer was disappointed in Anakin that he became more machine than man. He was always on the lookout for a better apprentice. When Luke appears on the scene, the Emperor focused on him.
Darth Plagueis the wise and Palpatine, with dark experiments, unwittingly "created" life... and that´s why Shmi Skywalker was pregnant with no man. When the Emperor Palpatine... Darth Plagueis apprentice... had all over control... he murdered his master Plagueis in his sleep.
That is pure speculation and fan fiction. There is no evidence to support the notion that anyone was responsible for Anakin's procreation.
@@Stogie2112Then how did he come about? Even with an immaculate conception something is at work to bring it about. Up until Disney invalidated the EU it was part of the larger canon. And unless Disney decides to gut the opera house scene from the movie it is still implied Plagueis's experiments led to the birth of Anakin when Palpatine looks at Anakin very pointedly as he explains how Plagueis influenced midichlorians to create life. It may be subtextual but the dialogue and delivery have weight.
@@mdroid7755 .... The simplest explanation is that the Force itself created Anakin in the womb. The Force alone, with no intervention from anyone, created Anakin so that he would bring balance.
A few words from Palpatine about Darth Plagueis (which could have been a lie), are not sufficient evidence of anyone manipulating the Force to create Anakin.
We must remember that Palpatine was constantly manipulating Anakin with lies and half-truths, just to turn him to the Dark Side. His story about Plagueis and how he could stop death was probably a lie.
@@Stogie2112 That makes little sense. If the Force overtly directed the course of the galaxy in such a way to create Anakin then why did it not act on its own initiative in the same way any of the other times there was imbalance? What about that specific timeframe made it more important for Anakin to exist when he did? Why are we not awash with other immaculate conceptions in the galaxy? You'd think if the Force just had a habit of generating random babies then it shouldn't bewilder the Jedi when one shows up.
And, as you say, Palpatine was giving Anakin lies and half truths to manipulate him for years. That's not in dispute. But I don't see why he couldn't also tell the truth to manipulate him just as easily. Telling the tale of how he took knowledge from his master and killed him when he had nothing useful left is very much in the vein of pride a Sith would have. He's clearly boasting about his actions even if he obscured they were his in the moment. And further, all Anakin was concerned with was the stopping death part and Palpatine would have had him regardless without the mention of other powers. So why mention influencing the Force to create life unless it had bearing, i.e. hinting at the secret of Anakin's own existence?
@@mdroid7755 .... There is no "official history" of the Force, the Jedi and the Sith. The only information we have is what we have seen in the films. For all we know, the Force did intervene in galactic affairs in the past. We just don't know.
According to George Lucas, Anakin WAS an immaculate conception. That's all we have to go on. Why is that so difficult for people to accept? The only "hinting" at Anakin's creation is in the minds of fans.
It may be fun to imagine hypothetical scenarios with Palpatine and Plagueis creating Anakin, but it's still just fan speculation. Nothing from Lucas or the other writers confirm it. Therefore, it's a waste of time discussing it.
Jyn wears the coolest shirts.
Palpatine's greatest mistake was assuming that he could turn Luke just like he turned Anakin.
Anakin had built his entire life on his love for Padmé. That made him an easy target for Palpatine.
Luke cared deeply about his friends, but he never knew his mother, nor was he romantically involved with a woman.
Luke never experienced the deep, selfish, jealous love that comes with a romantic relationship.
Although Luke felt the attraction of the Dark Side, he wasn't nearly as desperate as his father was.
The idea that Padme would die for the loss of Anakin is stupid - she has two children to live for. The fan theory that the Emperor is literally draining her life to save Anakin makes far more sense.
Definitely watch Rogue One next. Great reaction, thanks, ladies. VH.

General Grievous has organic eyes and coughs and yet a surprising too many people don't connect the dots that he's a cyborg. Grievous is also a lot more sympathetic of a character when you know all the stuff he went through and how it was used to manipulate him.

As always, I’ve enjoyed your reaction so much ❤
While the Emperor was not called Palpatine in the Original films, he was given the name in the novelization of the first movie, A New Hope. I had friends that loved the books, so I knew he was called Emperor Palpatine when I went to watch the Prequals in theaters. When, in The Phantom Menace, Padmé called him "Senator Palpatine", I knew immediately that he was the Emperor, as a kid, so it always felt super obvious to me, but I heard the name ahead of time. Haha.

Obi-Wan vs Anakin is peak. It's so sad to see two brothers fight that brutally.

The one thing I appreciate the most about the prequel trilogy is the very slow burn of watching Anakin be influenced and manipulated by Palpatine all along, and to see his descent into madness to become Vader. That whole journey is basically the point of these films. Many people complain that there is a lot of boring politics; "trade disputes" seldom make for interesting action adventure movies. Palatine's manipulation of the war, playing both sides against each other to gain power, "accepting" leadership, "accepting" more power, ascending to create The Empire. Not quite as interesting from a personal relationships standpoint, not a lot of action to those sections, but a picture of political will at its worst: well-crafted, that. And there is enough action, light sabers, explosions, leaping about Jedi force stuff, throughout the films: some of the best light saber battles of the whole series- originals and sequels included- are in these prequel films.
There are some mis-steps: Jar-Jar is the most cited. Padme's change from bad-ass queen, to bad-ass senator, to meek mild wife and pregnant lady is a weird vibe switch for that character. Natalie Portman acts the hell out of that role all the way through, but she was done dirty at the end, there. Anakin's complaint about sand is one of my friend's personal grudges he's held for decades, now: he never misses an opportunity to mock that speech. I'm mostly willing to look past a paragraph or two of slightly clunky dialogue, or a comedic relief character that goes too far, even Padme's character drop I'm willing to sadly shake my head and look past in deference to the greater story arc.
My biggest complaints are the continuity errors or ret-cons compared to the original trilogy. When making a prequel, you have a LOT of predestination to deal with. We KNOW for a fact that A, B, and C are going to happen; we've already seen the "future" in the original trilogy. The prequels' job is to tell us HOW we got from here to there. But when they insert certain twists and wrinkles, certain things start to get messy. And that bothers me. R2D2 and C3PO playing such large parts in these films, but the Obi-Wan of the future seeming to not know anything about them: was he pretending? 3PO had his memory wiped; R2 I'm not sure about. Vader/Anakin seems to know nothing of their involvement in the fight against him. The idea that Darth Vader himself, at the age of nine, built C3PO as a hobby project: that is WILD. I really super hate that that is a canon fact. I try to reject that from my mind whenever possible. The decision to give Luke to literally Anakin's half-brother: how is that "hiding" him from anybody? His home planet? The only family Anakin has left? Nobody thinks that's a risk at all? Several others that I started to type but deleted. Too rant-y.
So anyway. I wish that they had been more careful with tying this prequel into the future in ways that made sense and didn't lead to plot-holes or fantastical cosmic coincidences. But I did appreciate the long and tragic journey of Anakin's turn to The Dark Side.
I have further thoughts about the sequel trilogy, but now is not the time for those...
This is my favorite Star Wars movie! The battle between Yoda and Palpatine alongside the battle between Anakin Skywaker aka Darth Vader Vs Obi-Wan Kenobi on the lava planet was epic!
Congrats ladies, you have finished all the Star Wars movies. Again, you finished all the Star Wars movies.

I remember when they announced they were making the prequel trilogy way back when. We sat around wondering what it was going to be like. I'm not one for 'asking' anything of creative people, I just want to go and see/hear and experience something, good or bad, just take me on a journey. But I did wonder where the names Luke and Leia came from. So I figured maybe they'd be other characters that we'll see, and therefor they would influence the parents. So there I am years later, lol, and now in the final few minutes of this movie, at this point having given up any hope of the naming bit of trivia... then we see Padme just nonchalantly name her kids(!). Like as if those two names were already on the tip of her tongue, they came out without any hesitation. Lol, I just thought that is some weird trolling, lol. I mean, imagine at the beginning of the 2nd film, when they land and Padme's decoy and ship get bombed and Padme rushes over to console her. All it would have taken would be a simple "Stay with me, Leia, the medics are on their way." SO simple. Or instead of Obi Wan's friend named Cody, he was named Luke. And Padme died before naming him (I know I know, just flip the kids around, lol). Ben hands the baby to the aunt and he names him. It would have been such a beautiful addition to the story. Shame on you George, lol. ANYWAYS, I loved this watchalong with you two.
Sheiv Palpatine aka Darth Sideous was the apprentice who killed Darth Plagus in his sleep.
And Palpatine is actually revealed as Darth Sideous right at the end of Episode I.
Yoda: "Always two there are, no more, no less"
Mace Windu: "But which was destroyed? Master or apprentice?"
Camera: pans to Palpatine and zooms in on a smirk
3:25 You only found this out if you watched the cartoon. Grievous got his chest cavity force crushed by Mace Windu after trying to escape from him 🙂
Well, it’s not like Anakin hasn’t killed kids before 😉
39:54 "If you're not _with_ me, then you're my _enemy!"_
"Only a Sith deals in absolutes."
🤔That kind of sounds like an absolute.
My theory is that Palpatine was Darth Plaugis' apprentice, and so he too, also learned to create life. His efforts yielded Anakin. (Shmi said there was no father) Palpatine was also responsible for planting the dreams of Padme's death in Anakin's mind so he would have a lever to manipulate Anakin to the Dark Side. Some may disagree, but it all fits.
That is a very popular bit of fan fiction, although there is no evidence of it being true.
As for Anakin's dreams, the future is always in motion, as Yoda once told Luke. Force-aware people can see the future, but they are seeing possible futures. When he was leaving his mother, Anakin could sense that he would see her again. Anakin chose to focus on the one possible future where Padmé dies. His fear made him obsess over it.
Grevious was originally an organic creature. I can't remember what kind he was and what happened
He was a Kaleesh warrior that got blown up by the separatists, but was told the jedi were responsible.
Oh yeah here we go!
Ohhhhh. I’m so hyped!!! You guys are so into this saga and I love it. Please watch rogue one next. You’ll love it.
How did Anakin go from being a sweet little boy to Darth Vader? Well.... it was all the Jedi's fault.
If Qui-gon Jinn had lived, things may have turned out differently, as he was clearly the father figure that the boy needed, but Obi-wan had to fill in instead, and always viewed Anakin as a younger brother. Also, being just out of training himself, Obi-wan wasn't prepared to train a 9 year old boy (since most Jedi Younglings are taken to the Temple at age 1-2). The Jedi never thought to free his mother from slavery even though it would have been a simple affair for them, and tried to force their dogmatic teachings of emotion suppression on him after he'd already developed his own persona (which is why children are taken to the Temple so young, so they don't form attachments and are thus molded in the Jedi way from the start).
Obi-wan was used to this style of teaching and was not prepared for how Anakin would react to how harsh he was, sowing the seeds of resentment in him early. Anakin has also seen all of the corruption in the Republic, in the Senate via his dealings with Padme during the Clone Wars, their turning a blind eye to smuggling, slavery, and other bad shit in the name of profit, and even the Jedi's hypocrisy in claiming to be peacekeepers and yet pushing for more offensives during the war instead of even attempting diplomacy.
Add to that when Anakin goes to Yoda for advice, he gets the typical "Hands-off" treatment that Yoda is famous for, and is left feeling completely misunderstood, which further confuses his loyalties. He wants to be a good Jedi, but he sees how what they do isn't always good. He's always held that a benevolent tyranny is better than a democracy of idiots and thieves, and Palpatine uses that and other confidences to draw him in to his plots while seeming to be a friend. This is not Anakin's fault, and he does try to do the right thing after he finds out Palpatine is Darth Sidious, but then he sees Mace Windu do the exact thing he berated himself for earlier as 'not the Jedi way' and realises the Jedi are not the good guys they should be.
After this, he basically feels like he has no choice but to follow through on his actions, which we all know is just digging himself into a deeper hole, but he doesn't realize this at first. Having always viewed the Dark Side as just another tool and not an inherently corrupting force also leads to his fall, especially after being told he's THE CHOSEN ONE his whole life and seeing the power he gets from tapping the Dark Side. You can tell he regrets some of what he's doing when he's standing on that balcony on Mustafar, tears falling, but he's in too deep now to go back.
Finally, his outer hatred of Obi-Wan, of the Order, and of the Republic at the end are just pale reflections of his own self-hatred for all of the things he's done and knowing in the end that he didn't even achieve his goal of saving Padme. This is where his true strength as Vader comes from.
Anakin would’ve done better in the older Jedi order (over 1,000 years ago) which was more pragmatic, more adaptable, and didn’t discourage attachments. Back then Jedi even had families and kids of their own. In the past it was the Sith who were dogmatic, and rigid. However ever since the last battle between the Jedi and the Sith (1,000 years ago) it’s now the Jedi who are too rigid, whereas the Sith had evolved and adapted.
What Palpatine said about the Republic not being what it once was in Episode One, the same can be said of the current Jedi Order, ever since their last battle with the Sith. The Jedi had become too dogmatic, arrogant, rigid, and too detached from others. The Jedi had also become too out of touch with things, they failed to see that the galaxy was changing, that people had lost faith in the Republic which had become too corrupt and dysfunctional. The hypocrisy of the Jedi is that while they preached against attachments, they were too ‘attached’ to the Republic and the power that it gave them, they had become too political. They chose to follow the will of a corrupt Senate instead of the will of the Force like Qui Gon did.
Qui Gon was the last true Jedi until Luke came along, he understood how misguided the Order had become. Obi Wan should’ve followed his example and not taken a seat on the Council. Anakin felt more alone after Ahsoka left the Order and it seemed to him that Obi Wan had chosen the Council over him, that he had abandoned him. Only after the fall of the Republic and the Order did Obi Wan realize that Qui Gon had been right all along. Both Obi Wan and Yoda went about training Luke a lot differently, they were kinder, more understanding, and not so rigid. They were both determined to mend the mistakes they had made with Anakin. Luke’s new Order in Star Wars Legends is a lot better than the previous Order had been.
Loved this reaction! I went to the premiere of this movie when it came out, and I distinctly remember looking at the back of George Lucas' head (I was sitting far behind him) and thinking WTF after the scene where Anakin killed the younglings. So dark. I hate that Padme essentially died from being terminally sad. Ruined her character. The Padme from Phantom Menace would've lived for her children
36:36 That is the problem Obi-Wan trained Anakin as a younger brother. He should have trained him as a father would a son. That is how Qui-Gon trained Obi-Wan.
This is why I've always felt Anakin would have never turned if Qui Gon had lived and been able to train Anakin like he wanted, then he would have had that fatherly training while potentially having a more organic brotherly relationship with Obi Wan, he also would have had then a master who openly opposed the Order's "no attachment" and hypocrisies which could have eased a great deal of other mental struggles Anakin had
You are the few people who thinks Anakin had always been that way inside him. Most Star Wars fans hate that and blind themselves.
Anakin was doomed from the start.
As a small boy, Anakin was angry, and justifiably so. He and his mother were slaves.
Anakin was afraid for his mother, more so after he left.
Anakin felt guilty for leaving his mother. That increased his fear and anger.
As the years went by, he felt even more guilty for not going back and freeing his mother.
Finding her, only to have her die in his arms, increased his guilt and anger exponentially.
He blamed himself for her death, but he then projected his anger onto the Jedi. He was a perfect stooge for the Sith.
@@Stogie2112 You are right. I've always thought of him as a Sith trying eagerly to be a Jedi.
Anakin always had darkness inside of him. He was just never taught properly how to deal with it.
Ryl, your Mini Me impression is spot on haha
The Jedi have always been a walking contradiction. "Train yourself to let go" quickly turned into "search your feelings on this one" and forget the senate 🤦🏾♂️. The Jedi is just as much responsible for Vader as Palpatine was.
They also became too detached from reality in general.
Hurry and watch Rogue One (A Star Wars Story). The in-between of episode 3 & 4.
I said this in a previous comment, but a lot of people think that the force is in balance when there are the same amount of Sith as there are Jedi. But this I do not believe to be true. George Lucas was heavily inspired by various religions when creating Star Wars, particularly when discussing the Force, the Light and the Dark; the Jedi and the Sith. In various religions, the word "balance" means harmony, more than it means literal equilibrium. In some religions, things are out of balance when there is Chaos. The presence of the Sith represent Chaos, and the upsetting of harmony (balance). Therefore the Force can only be in balance once there is peace and harmony.
When there were thousands of Jedi and Sith there was no balance. When there were thousands of Jedi and only two Sith there was no balance. And then there was a time when the Jedi thought the Sith were no more, yet they the Jedi or at least some of them, still believed in or were aware of the prophecy of a Chosen One to balance the Force. If the Sith were no longer around why would there need to be a balance? Well for one the Sith weren't the only embodiment of the dark side. There were others who used the dark side who weren't Sith, just like there were those who weren't Jedi but used or were influenced by the the light side, and those somewhere in between. For example, although there was a rule of just two, The Master and the apprentice, there were plenty of Sith acolytes, dark side users who were basically Sith lite. There were also people like the Witches of Dathomir who were force sensitive and heavily leaned dark side. So the theory that their had to be an equal amount of Jedi and Sith for balance makes no sense and always annoyed me.
@@martinwarford1389 In the films though we’re only shown Two Sith operating at once at a time and no other dark side users. Balance was brought to the Force once both current Sith Lords were taken out.
You should know that every apprentice of the Emperor has done that without wanting it. They all had a cause. Maul was chosen by the Night Sisters, Dooku wanted to fight corruption and Anakin wanted to save Padme
The Jedi were destroyed because they lost their calling to serve the will of the Force. They have become very political, and serve the Senate and the Republic more. This was confirmed by Obi Wan when he told Vader "My allegiance is to the Republic, to Democracy!" Although in fact this is not the path of a true Jedi, and Qui-Gon (Obi-Wan’s master understood this, which is why he was at odds with the Jedi Council. Windu in Episode III said that “The Jedi lose connection to the Force,” and this is true. Therefore, the Force was not on their side, and in the end they failed.
The Jedi had to be reborn.
The Last three bring everything into context and close the loop
Who leaves someone they love like a brother to burn alive? Darth Obi I guess. 😲
Yall really should consider the 2008 clone wars special animated 1 : 30 minute movie that will introduce you two ladies to a beloved female Jedi Student.
Great reaction as always fam! Time to begin the Clone Wars animated series. Thanks for sharing!
"Only a Sith deals in absolutes" it itself an absolute. Obi-Juan should have said "Dealing in absolutes is a quality often exhibited by Sith, though others sometimes do so as well."
You have earned a good chuckle from me, my friend!
It was actually Palpatine that was sending those visions of Anakin's mother and Padme both dying in the last film and this one respectively.
I just recently realized. Once Anakin cut off Master Windu's hand it was over. He couldn't go back to the Jedi order even if he had killed Darth Sidious instead of Windu. He would have been cast out of the Jedi order for that. In Anakin's mid the only path forward was to join Darth SIdious.
Notice that Anakin is wearing black and Obwan is in light color clothing.
I noticed anakin 🥾 represents darth Vader, while the rest of the Jedi wears the tall boots.
Palp is one of the greatest swordsman of all time, if not the best
Virtual hug! 🤗🤗
In the novel Palpatine used Padme’s life force to keep Anakin alive. This is the thing his master used to keep others from dying. I wish it was shown better in the movie, but this is the reason Padme died and why the doctors could not understand.
