I got one right now, it's having battery draining issues, I've never worked on a car or motorcycle before but I'm going to start with this bike. Hope I can get it running again.
I think I'm going to try and do the same! Neighbor has got a 1984 he's selling says it needs all the works fluid changes, tune, brakes and looking for where to start
THe one thing i realized is that costs are high because parts are difficult to find. If you go full on restore to the original it costs more. But if you get universal stuff on ebay it's very cheap. Always good to get a shadow they seem to have many parts available if you want to restory to their original glory.
@@VehicleHunter awesome, i ask because i want a little side project that i can work on when im bored but not break the bank, i dont mind ebay parts i mostly just want something to ride around base lol
Caveat being the ONE thing it is hard nay nearly important to get parts size is a decent TANK. LOL. Ask me how I know. I had to go and get a doner bike, and then do electrolysis on it, and reseal it. Technically speaking though the tank is available, but it's PRICY brand new.
I'm trying to get my 85 shadow 500 a New ignition switch I'm having trouble finding the one with the right wiring harness can you send me a link to the one you purchased
@@surfman8388 the ace is more comfortable for long rides and a total dad bike. Easy to use and maintain. The 85 shadow was more fun but harder to handle. Heavier and too much engine. But it looked freaking cooler.
@@majestic_irrelevance I found 700vt with 6 speed and 40k kms. Looking for the first bike to just ride around. I like it because of good reviews and it's crazy cheap to have it insured here (1/10 from normal bike)
This video should be called cleaning and getting started hardly a restoration , but hey I watched the whole video and you know the chick was checking you out bro... you need those mirrors you daredevil.
I like what you say at the end, " but sometimes older, doesn't mean it is less than... and i think alot of people forget that." Powerful words!

i didn't spend alot on it, but it took more time than money to get it going.

So much information you could have included in this. Finding this video was a real disappointment.
