While Jonathan's cover has more intensity, playing into the anger of Frolo, this one focuses on his insanity and fear, which works very well too. It's good to see the two versions to get a good feeling the character. Anyway, great cover!
I agree. One reason I like Caleb & Jonathan's covers are that they do more than just sing. By their facial expressions and even acting sometimes, they add character to the singing, making the song more alive. It's more enjoyable. So many of their covers are more than just songs to listen to, but have the element of watching them singing really deepens the entertainment. Edit= I mean to add that I agree on Caleb's performance gives life to Frolo's insanity and fear.
@@Katzztar Yeah, looking at this video again, it's not just insanity and fear, it's also some sadness, which makes the song really interesting and I feel like it makes the story itself a bit more interesting after seeing this.
@@ArtemisRayne94 That would be pretty cool, but since they've already both made covers of this song, I doubt they'll do that. But they have done some pretty good duet covers before, like Great Days from JoJo.
@@kingchickenwing4887 The sadness in a way makes sense. Even in the original, Frollo knew what he was doing was wrong. He spent his whole life dedicated to the church and god, and in his eyes had done nothing wrong at this point. Then all of a sudden he feels lust and it torments him inside, hence him practically begging god for help before succumbing to his lust. Even though it'd be a stretch to call Frollo a tragic villain since he was always evil in other ways, we don't usually see this level of genuine inner turmoil inside Disney villains. It's in part why he's probably my favorite Disney villain.
Hellfire is one of those songs that's fantastic no matter how many times I hear it, no matter how many versions I hear. The original Hellfire you did was one of the first videos I saw on your channel - you floored me then, and you floored me now!
“The sun caught in her raven hair is blazing in me out of all control” This is such a powerful line. It truly shows Frollo’s lust and his desire. He is truly one of the best disney villains. Depicts the sin of lust just as perfectly as Gaston depicts that of Pride.

Every other cover of Hellfire: *calm yet ominous introduction accompanied by religious chanting* Caleb Hyles: *EPIC INTRO WITH POWERFUL DRUMS THAT SENDS GOOSEBUMPS DOWN YOUR SKIN BLESS THIS TALENTED MAN!!!*
While there are plenty of great and fantastic Disney villain songs, none of them have quite the feel and the impact that Hellfire does. Hellfire is about a man already corrupt with power facing one of the very things he spent his whole life vowing against. Even as blinded to his pride as he was, he couldn't ignore his lust. Esmeralda single-handedly took the most feared/loved man in Paris and one of the most powerful and made him face both his belief and his feelings. Yet he can't come to terms that his emotions are his own, instead casting blame on Esmeralda for igniting the spark. He turns to god to help him but in the end, succumbs to his lust. Were Frollo a good man, the song would be a tragedy. Most Disney villain songs ooze confidence. They know what they want, how to get it and that what they do is for their own gain. Not Hellfire. Hellfire is Frollo breaking from his own inner turmoil. All this to say that I feel you've done a fantastic job capturing those very feelings and emotions in this cover, Caleb. Consider this one of my faves by you.
This is why musical Frollo is so much more compelling. He was a good man with a troubling past that eventually got the best of him, causing his views of righteousness to be twisted into a mess of lustful desires and abuse of power. This is why I love the Hunchback of Notre Dame so much, it is so rich in its story and characters and has some really deep and impactful music to back it up. My favorite part about this song in particular is that (as you probably know already) the choir isn't just 'ah yes cool Latin chanting', it's another layer to the song itself. The beginning is a Catholic prayer of confession to God for being a sinner, and to repent. In the middle of the song, 'Mia Culpa' means 'my fault' and is a continuation of that same prayer. Man, I love this song! Schwartz created a lyrical masterpiece that is one for the ages!
@@tylerbrennon4023 don't take this the wrong way, but to me it sounds like you followed Frollo's path exactly, with the exception of your "Esmerelda" reciprocating.

John's cover has more more of a gothic metal feel to it which focuses more on frolo turning into the twisted, insane character he really is, whereas this focuses more on frolos feeling towards his emotions concerning esmerelda with its softer overall tonality but with quick, intense growls patches that compliment the song very well, love you caleb, keepmaking art.
The absolute amount of chills when he said *"I'M NOT TO BLAME!"* The amount of anger and justification in that saying is accurate to how Frollo acted. A man who abuse the power he had, buried his flaws knowing they exist, manipulates those around em, and justifies all actions he has as he always sees himself as HOLY.
i just found this.. the mark of a good performance is emotional connection and ugh... the choices with track, camera, pacing, inflection, lighting... incredible. pit of my stomach is this deeply uncomfortable need to back up. the almost predatory eye contact going to that gentle voice.. the whole thing leaves an unsettled after effect that is incredible. I'm reminded of live stage actors that I've seen. I can imagine being in the same room with the energy that comes from that would be insanely cool. Thank you Caleb!

Holy mother of heck, I adored your previous version of this and this one just blew me away. You bring the darker side of this song to light and the tension definitely begins to mount until suddenly, it bursts forth into a smoldering blaze and the last note /nails/ it. Honest to god, I had chills. Nice job, man!
I do like this version, and appreciate it as a benchmark for how much you've refined your talents since the first cover of this song. You've come a long way in the past few years and instead of just "singing a song," you make it your own and pour your original style into your work to create truly captivating interpretations of the art. However, I think I still personally enjoy your first cover better than this one. Like I said, you've only gotten better over the years but you were great back then to. For me, I believe it was the slower pace that had me enthralled because I just loved how bold and powerful your voice came out. In this version it felt like you were rushing through the lyrics, especially in the beginning. To be fair, I may like it more simply because it was more similar to the original song in the first place, thus igniting my nostalgia for the scene. Just my two cents...that for some reason I felt like giving... not that anyone asked...
The close up camera, the stripped down environment and Caleb's stunning vocals give this version of Hellfire an intensity I've never felt from any of the other versions.

The first time I see the lyrics with the chorus in latin too. Good work, dude :)
@@SkullQueen33 I just copy and pasted bro, mostly was for my read along so I didn’t have to switch tabs 😭
@@KevinJusticeWarrior Still great job👍
When someone tries to blame something on you IM NOT TO BLAME
LOLOL Please time stamp this

John's cover has more more of a gothic metal feel to it which focuses more on frolo turning into the twisted, insane character he really is, whereas this focuses more on frolos feeling towards his emotions concerning esmerelda with its softer overall tonality but with quick, intense growls patches that compliment the song very well, love you caleb, keepmaking art.
Omg I needed this. Finally a male cover. Not a good cover, not a great cover, but the most epic cover. Keep up the the perfect voice work.
You have no idea how psyched I was to find this. I love this song so much and your voice made it 10x better.
1:09 "The sun caught her raven hair." I replay this part over and over.
The absolute amount of chills when he said *"I'M NOT TO BLAME!"*
The amount of anger and justification in that saying is accurate to how Frollo acted.
From the minute 1:40, the intensity of the song rises so much that It gives me chills
“It’s not my fault!” Why was that part 🔥?! Badass. He’s a natural actor with his singing.
The “It’s not my fault! I’m not to blame!” really sells Frollo’s delusional desperation to blame anyone else but himself.
*_It's been 3,000 years_*
Hellfire is the best of the Disney Villain songs.
Fight me.
You keep growing on me Caleb. I Am not one of the people who devours every one of your videos, but some of your song choices and interpretations are incredible, and highly valued by me. Thank you for sharing a song by the best Disney Villain ever.
Thanks for sticking with me ♥
might be bad to say but i think frollo came back today... notre dame is burning
Damn lol
Haha.
He really said “I wanna burn it again”
When he said "she will burn" I guess Frollo accidentally directed that at Notre Dame instead of Esmeralda lol.
OMG YOUR VOICE IS SO GOOD! Well, this cover is perfectly done! I'm really impressed! Good job, Caleb! Big hugs, love and metal to you as always! :)

Would you ever cover Bohemian Rhapsody? Maybe a 1 million sub special?
Honestly John and Caleb together for Bohemian Rhapsody or Killer Queen
No one talks about the perfectly desperate“I’m not to blame” and “it’s not my fault”
And here I was spending the morning listening to our old recording of this song! I absolutely love the way you sing this song and every version of it you make of it has always been my favourite!
Hellfire is one of my favorite Disney Songs. Frollo was an awesome Antagonist and this song suited him and his ambitions. This is an awesome rendition of it. 😊
Have you tried a song from the phantom of the opera? I think it will be really beautiful with your voice. We can really feel when you start kind of talking it's really great and some screaming was really perfect for feeling the angry. If you try one day let me know😋 Bravo! Continue to sing I love it!👍🏻👍🏻
The dualism between you, soft in tone, vs John who speaks like he lives off the concept of metal. Beautiful cover
omggggg Caleb how are you so amazing??? I can hear the amazing vocal work and the emotion in your singing! I love it!
The eye-roll cracked me up. 2:36
Oh I didn’t even have notifications on. I just randomly decided to check your channel and here’s a newly posted cover. Neat
I have no idea why this version, out of the four I absolutely love, made me cry.
Jonathan young: movie frollo
Caleb hyles: book frollo

One of my favorite parts about this video is the emotion. And my favorite part is so subtle but gets me every time. The way he looks so caring and loving here and then looks down, and the way his eyes open. You can see the change of emotion just in his eyes. Man, this video was amazing. The vocals along with the attention to detail is amazing. Bravo!
My two moods: Jonathon Young’s “Hellfire” and Caleb’s
the PURE EMOTION IN THIS
last time I was this early, Disney was still brave enough to have movies with serious themes.
/crawls out of Paris' sewers/ DO YOU EVEN KNOW FOR HOW LONG I'VE WAITED FOR THIS THIS IS ASTOUNDING OH MY JESUS THIS IS SO GOOD I'M SPEECHLESS SO THE ONLY WAY I CAN EXPRESS MY AWE IS SCREAMING IN ALL CAPS WITH NO PUNCTUATION MARKS AND ONLY AN OCCASIONAL APOSTROPHE THIS IS BEAUTIFUL DEAR GOD
Clicked so fast on this!!! My favorite Disney song ever! :D
Finally! A cover of this song that displays all of the emotions this song evokes. Anger, fear, lust, disgust; Its just beautiful! Great job, Caleb!!!
I've been waiting my while life for this!!! :)
Bro how tf am i a YEAR late on this?
I got goosebumbs galore! This is such a great cover~
The emotion you put behind your words is just..Wow.
I love it!
The real reason why Notre Dame caught flame.
I just love how Caleb honoering the great Tony Jay Caleb you are my Hero
*Somewhere in the distance...*
Jonathan: “Of course you realize, this means war.”
-dual performance when, it’s the logical conclusion-
-also maybe Hunt You Down?-
I find a long with you as you were singing this Caleb. I don't know if I gave myself chills, you gave me chills, or if both of us gave myself chills.
This song has a new meaning now
Holy mother of heck, I adored your previous version of this and this one just blew me away.
You bring the darker side of this song to light and the tension definitely begins to mount until suddenly, it bursts forth into a smoldering blaze and the last note /nails/ it.
Honest to god, I had chills. Nice job, man!
The old cover slapped and this one slaps even mORE, HELL yeah
Easily the best version of this song I've heard. Caleb did an amazing job with this one 👏 👏
That was dramatic, that was full of passion. I can see Esmeralda dancing in the fire.
When someone asks me who ate all the cookies 1:46
Its also the best part
The close up camera, the stripped down environment and Caleb's stunning vocals give this version of Hellfire an intensity I've never felt from any of the other versions.
I clicked as soon as I could- I love your voice and this song!
I think what I love about Caleb’s and Jonathan’s, is that they do things different.
Chills. Actual chills down my spine. Beautiful as always, Caleb!
1:09 i dont have a single word. Thah voice is bless. Caleb always wonderful like a fire.
Kind of late to the party but this is one of the best covers of this song I’ve heard! Awesome work on the tone of insanity and fear, makes it feel real. A+ from this guy!
it was all fun and games until 1:45 dropped and my jaw just dropped. I'm amazed at how you got into character so damn well, the panic, the feelings, EVERYTHING was just perfect!
