This is funny because I don't even consider it dark ambient. And even if I did, I wouldn't put it in my top 50. I prefer even darker type. Bardo Exist is IMO a lot better, but even that is not as good as Suuri shamaani (since we're talking about Holocausto here).
'Drawing Down the Moon' LP :One of the best metal albums ever! Great albums released in Finland in 1993, with Beherit, Belial, Sentenced, Unholy, Demigod..
First track off Engram is 10/10, but my all time favorite is Dawn of Satan’s Millennium. I feel like that is the true Beherit sound, the vocals are killer
Love Beherit though mostly only for Oath of Black Blood and Drawing Down the Moon, although Engram is a great album and their last dark ambient one was quite good. But even just for the first 2 they have immortality in black metal in my opinion, huge albums for me in my life.
I mainly prefer The Oath and Drawing Down, but enjoyed Engram. Thought Bardo Exist was a step down from Electric Doom Synthesis and H418ov21c. Havent listened to WBRRR. Overall a good discography with a little bit of something for everyone, and i think Beherit demonstrates just how creative, and dynamic black metal as a genre can really be. You touched on this a little when discussing Beherit's genre switch, but one topic about Finnish black metal history that i dont see talked about was the beef between the Polish scene, and the Finnish scene (Impaled Nazarene i think being the main offender). I tried talking to Karcharoth of Infernum about this period when he was alive, but his response was more or less, "those were dark times and i prefer to forget about them." I believe the beef was over tape trading, and, "not being true". Nowadays the idea of this beef is silly, and we all consider Beherit is kvlt, etc etc.
Personally, Beherit were more important for their transcendance into Dark Electronic than their pioneering Metal albums. I liked them on Drawing Down the Moon but truly got into them with Electric Doom Synthesis.
Let's not forget Mortuary Drape and Sagatrakavashen from Italy, Rotting Christ, Varathron and Necromantia from Greece, Pactum from Mexico, Parabellum from Colombia and Pentagram from Chile, among others, all active during the 80s. I do agree with you when it comes to the best Beherit albums, "Engram" and "The Oath of Black Blood" are my favourite ones as well. I like them all, though, I like Suuri Shamaani, Gamma-G and GoatVulva as well. About metal lyrics: I do like simple ones, so no problem there, it's not easy to write catchy lyrics anyway but when it comes to more complex, poetic ones, I like Cradle of Filth's one. Dani is a true poet. Also what about Sabbat UK and Skyclad? Martin Walkyer is an excellent lyricist imo. Master's Hammer lyrics are interesting as well. Great video btw, this channel is pure quality.
There are bm bands from the 80s active, but not from Finland, because simply said, basically there was only Beherit and Archgoat. Other countries and it's different. As this video just focuses on Beherit, I won't go deep into other bands. But I do get your point. Thanks for your compliment, too.
I am happy to hear Engram being talked about. Beherit is a strange one because you want to love the band of the representation of Finland but on a musical standpoint, it can disappoint people.
@Ks2314-n5z … well ok. I buy my albums at stores. I don’t order things online, I enjoy Searching for hidden gems and actually Putting some effort in finding things.
I'm with you on Engram. The second and the third albums are somewhat hit & miss but I really like "Bardo Exists" and "WBRRR", they're solid albums in their own genre, I'd argue that the latter is even better and more consistent than the former.
Personally, I think they are one of the most over rated BM bands out there. I have tried and tried, but to be honest I cannot for the life of me see anything good about them.
That's always subjective with each and every listener. Personally that band for me, is Dissection. I have tried over and over, since their first record. Nothing about them was exciting or special to me.
@@infernusrex796 Dissection isn't for me either: death metal with a little melody and average-sounding vocals. Doesn't convince me. At least not in this case.

No offense to the guys, Finland is my all time favorite country when it comes to Black Metal, but Beherit is boring and straight bad in comparison to the big names from the scene. I won't even start listing all the bands that surpass them from your country. Like some "cult" names from the Norwegian scene, the only advantage of Beherit is that they have started at the right time in the right place so they've gotten recognition and status. Finland has produced so many more better bands that I'd never waste my time listening to this one.
I will talk about those other bands in my Original Finnish Black Metal series which I will start later this month. But this video is solely about Beherit, nothing more, nothing less.

@@RautaMetal You have a LOT to cover. You will talk about both 90s and current scene, right?
Yeah, still does not mean it is not good though. But not everyone can like every influential or good band. Though I am not sure if you like Blasphemy and Archgoat. Who have similarities with Beherit except they are not avant-garde
I agree Engram was their best release, great riffs and guitar tone.
Best album ever indeed !!
Electriс Doom Synthesis is my favorite dark ambient album of all time. I can listen to it anytime; it never disappoints.
Seems like there are very few of us worshipping this album.

Thanks for making them.
Thanks for your words. Glad you like the vids.

Drawing down the moon...black metal masterpiece.
Different and unique🖤
I love Drawing, Engram and Electric Doom. I just wish they did more good metal albums. Messe des morts should have been a full length.
''Messe des morts should have been a full length''. Essence!
I have a copy of the 1991 tape, "Down There," by The Lord Diabolus -Beherit under a different name.

That "business not meaning money" remark really cracked me up! 😂
Heh!
Celebrate the dead is great release to me!
Agreed. Took black metal to a new era. Unfortunately nobody has followed it. Maybe someday.
The Best of Beherit

Precisely
If you crank the bass in my car to full and put "Engram" on loud my car rumbles big time.
Everything cranks except my vinyl for that, for whatever reason
That 2009 album was Fantastic
I actually remember buying the

(Too bad they closed down)
Please tell more!

Drawing down the moon..
Drawing Down the Moon is a KVLT !!!
Personally, I think they are one of the most over rated BM bands out there. I have tried and tried, but to be honest I cannot for the life of me see anything good about them.
Maybe it's more about their impact on the genre? I think they were great for their age, and certainly gave their spin on some things.
Rauta paradox is that all bands are overrated and underrated at the same time. It's the answer that varies by each person.
"Drawing down..." sounds good. I also like the first two purely electronic LPs. The rest bores me, to be honest.
That's always subjective with each and every listener. Personally that band for me, is Dissection. I have tried over and over, since their first record. Nothing about them was exciting or special to me.
