Believe me, I had my share of deaths in this place too. This was just my cleanest run, which made the most sense for a tutorial.
I really should’ve taken count of my deaths from the beginning of the dungeon but I would probably have hundreds 😭
Out of all the walkthroughs I was seeing for this dungeon, this video is the best. You honestly got all 100% items, had no cuts, and even took the time for the items to load so that the viewers can confirm what they got. I'm incredibly impressed at your dedication to this dungeon and glad I watched this. This dungeon made my cortisol levels sky rocket. This really the most annoying and awful bandage they put on this game.
Yup already busy for 2,5 hours and half way. I am exhausted, annoyed and broke the r1 button because I threw my controller several times. I am a pianist and have very steady hands and fine motoric skills. But this is just insane.
I'm not necessarily more skilled, just more practiced. I went through this dungeon at least 6 times preparing for this video, and believe me I failed a lot those first few runs.
5 hours?!?!? I was on day 2... then again I am not sure because I have 8 hours by save but paused from police shooting and SWAT rolling around that my PS rested twice. Good old Atlanta Suburbs.
Still this is a feat. I have to go back and get some things, if needed. I will later. What made it the worst was by the 3rd Ascension coin they were full. I was livid.
This was the 1st time my palms would sweat while playing. Probably have a cracked tooth. Didn't break a controller or teach my kid more words than he already knows from me 😂. It all played out in my head though. Especially still running backwards when reset to go to a previous reset...
Platforming Final Fantasy... Since FF1 and Dungeon Warrior I would've never thought I'd hear those words ever in 30+ years. Yeah they've shook it up here or there but the certainly made me want to be Rachet & Clank or something here. Float with cape at least. Can you imagine if it killed you? People would disown the franchise.

Just remember you get a total of 68 coins in there, so make some room. One pack in particular in Rock Bottom has 12 at once so don’t accidentally loot it while you only have room for 1 coin :(
I have to thank you for this video, I used it 5 or more years ago to get me through and it was epic then. I come back to it these years later replaying XV. Despite it's myriad flaws the game is still fun to me, and I didn't thank you before. Probably spent a day and half lost in this place and I hated it, but after watching you expertly navigate it, spent only 5 hours this time! Thanks!!

@@ElDuende05 rest mode is your friend. But do not go into rest mode without having "Keep Application Suspended" ticked, like I did. Doing the first half of Pitioss again was fun...

THE trickiest dungeon I have ever played including every single games I have ever played. Without any guides, it took me about 4 and a half hours to finish this dungeon. I just came in to UA-cam to find out that I wasn't the only one. But guys? Reward is worth it.
Completion is its own reward :)

Do the menace dungeons in roughly the order of their level and that should get you most of the way there. I don’t remember having to do too much grinding to complete those. Once you’re done with those you’ll have a better idea of what you’ll have left.

This is one of the best dungeons I've ever been into. for real.
Perspective is bs though. If you jump off too far, you have to do the whole thing over. The other parts have decent despawn locations.
It doesn't help that you have to jump off intentionally if you want to collect all the items there :(

Fortunately the gates and shortcuts remain open once you get outside and save, so it’s actually surprisingly quick to go back in and pick up anything you missed. Other than the obvious Black hood, notable loot includes a cache of rare items such as Zu beak on a secret ledge near the bottom of the diagonal area and a ton of coins in one of the side cages in the statue room.

Just finished my second time beating this dungeon. A lot of people hating on it due to the frustration. I feel it’s not so bad if you know beforehand somewhat of what you’re getting into. I just feel a lot of awe and amazement for how they created this dungeon. A lot of square games had post game super bosses, this is a post game super dungeon.
I think it’s cool how it’s just so unexpected, there’s really no other parts in the main game where platforming is a thing, yet they made an entire super dungeon solely with platforming.
I think it’s also cool when you learn the lore behind the dungeon then it’s just even more awe inspiring how they put together this whole thing.
If you don’t like platform games and don’t like solving puzzles then you’ll probably hate this dungeon. I just think it’s really not that bad if you sit back and enjoy the experience and appreciate the work that went into making it.
This time took me about half the time to beat as the first time. I think the first time I did it was about 4 hours, the second time about 2 hours. First time I think I looked at little to no helping guides. It’s kind of fun figuring it out on your own
I also really enjoyed this dungeon, but I’m afraid after the complaints they received this will be the last of its kind.

Amazing work here. Took me a while to get used to the camera doing its own thing at times and properly committing to a jump so noct wouldn't take that extra step after landing hahaha I spent a solid 2 hours getting lost and turned around before using your video. Actually enjoyed the dungeon despite the periodic frustration when falling repeatedly. Full tilt and rock bottom got me good. Thanks for the guide!

2022. Done. All of it. Full Tilt and Perspective were just a lot of fun. Wall and Rock Bottom were super cool. None of it was easy. Some of it was traumatic. Ascent and Gateway had parts that were so frustrating I'm never going back. Thanks for the walkthrough. It gave me hope there was going to be an ending.

This dungeon would have been OK in say a Zelda game or 3d platformer, but ffxv doesn't have good controls for this. Thanks for this video, it helped me a lot, way more than reading that stupid gamefaqs guide i was reading. It's harder to understand walkthroughs when you read them vs watching one and I'm glad you made this. Helped a lot of us frustrated players out, thank you so much! Kudos to you and good job!!!

@@ElDuende05 i think it might have been like the second or third walkthrough on gamefaqs, I'm late to the party and only started playing this game in 2022, but i think i prefer water theme dungeons in Zelda to this dungeon and that's only because the controls. Noctis keeps moving even after I've jumped and landed, had the same issue with red dead 2 with Arthur doing the same thing lol, i think they probably just needed to refine the controls so it's not so sensitive but also so the jumps don't frustrate people as much. But other than that it is a genius dungeon, i just think the 72 hours i spent on it i wish i could cut out some of that time falling. I think the next game i play after this one will be horizon forbidden west since i think 500 hrs burnt me out on ffxv. Btw did you defeat noctis on episode ignis and aranea in episode prompto? I didn't even attempt those two challenges after seeing how hard they were and i was like nope Im not skilled enough for this haha.
I actually didn’t play any of the party member DLC when it came out other than a bit of the Gladio one. I sorta wrapped up the game before the DLC came out and never got back to it. I’ll have to circle back at some point.

100 deaths but your Video saved my life xD
Man, even with a dope ass guide, this dungeon took me 5 hours and I died 73 times. I did some math to show how silly this dungeon is:
I died more times in this empty-ass dungeon than I have in literally every other dungeon and menace dungeon in the entire game combined.
If I'm not mistaken, I've experienced a total of 5 deaths during my entire playthrough up to deciding to try this dungeon. I crashed the Regalia Type-F 3 times trying to land on the runway, bringing that figure up to 8 deaths, pre-Pitios. During this dungeon run I died 73 times.
So after completing this dungeon I can say that over the course of my now 141 hours, 17 minutes, and 30 seconds of my current FFXV playthrough thus far, I've died a total of 81 times, and of those 81 deaths 73 of them were during the past 5 hours I just spent in this goddamn dungeon.
75/81 is 0.925(repeating), so 92.5% of the deaths I've experienced over the past 141.2916 hours in this game, 92.5% occurred during past 5 hours. That's absolutely ridiculous lol.
To sum up: 141.2916 hours in, and 92.5% of my total 81 deaths have been over the last 5 hours. Of my 81 total deaths, now only 6.2% of them have involved monsters of any kind lmao. That's just silly.
I found Costlemark Tower more difficult personally, but this was definitely more time consuming my first time.
Thank you for saving my new PS5 slim. I ALMOST made it fly through the sky. Plus the developers made an accuracy focused dungeon with a character that has poor movement control.

It's been a long time, but if you press the sprint button again (I think) right as you run out of stamina you'll get a second wind. It's just a matter of...timing.

I feel that there should have been a psn trophy for this dungeon. This dungeon was top tier awesome and most players don't even know it exists. At least having a trophy associated with the dungeon would have possibly had people looking into it
im not ashamed to admit the most i made it was to perspective. the first time i played i got to full tilt before i rage shut off the game and swore id never try this dungeon again.. well today i spent the last 5 hours failing alot... if i counted right...434 deaths in total.. made it to perspective and gave it my best before i finally waved the white flag. tho i failed this i would not have made it anywhere as far wirhout your video.... so thank you. tho im prob for real not going in again. it was actually fun on the parts where it wasnt making me rage from the fails....and yeah landing the regalia took me 54 tries as it was... ffs that shit was rough

I loved it, took me like a week to do but I didn't use any guide lol.
After my first playthrough I felt the same way, but after just doing it on my second playthrough, I came to enjoy the design elements of the dungeon and relish the sick challenge of it. I won't take away from your suffering at all though; it really can be maddening.
The place does grow on you, doesn't it?

Ah, I see. There is a note on a wiki or two about there being a White Sage in there. It's possible I missed it and there is one found somewhere inside, but I was pretty thorough and it's also possible those wiki articles are mistaken. If you do find one let me know!
The black belt reward at the end of this dungeon was kinda underwhelming especially when you have the Magitek V2 armor from that robot asshole. Challenging and pretty cool dungeon anyways. Thank you so much for the guide👍
Took me 6.5 hours my first time on Xbox closer to when it came out (no guide) . I avoided this dungeon on every successive play through. Gotta complete it at least once on the ps5. Tonight’s the night

You can actually buy those new weapons you got in this dungeon from shop/blacksmith in chapter 14 in Hammerhead (nighttime) right before going to Insomnia
That’s true. I think technically the only unique item in the entire dungeon is the Black Hood, though there are some odd items like the Zu Beak etc. in a well hidden secret area. This dungeon also provides the greatest single source of coins; it’s easy to cap out on those if you’re not careful.
Do you have any good tips for the end of the Wall section? I hate anything involving balancing and I can't seem to get past the part where you walk and jump on those narrow beams to exit the area. I get uncontrollable sweaty palms and fall every time.
The part near the top of the room on the rafters? My first tip is to take it slow. Also, stop any time you need to make a 90 degree turn and point the camera where you are going before moving. Finally, if you need to jump to another thin railing, point down the length of your target so you can afford to overshoot it a little.

"Take it slow" is definitely what I did haha. In some places you were running down beams that were technically wide enough probably, but even there I was super careful haha.

Quick tip: When you unlock the "Shortcuts" (those faces surrounded in red) you can leave the dungeon and save. That way you can come back to it later. Sure it'll take a full 10-15 min to get back to where you were, but not 2.5 hours lol
Good tip. Another one is that on your way out you can jump into a hazard just before your most recent checkpoint repeatedly and the game will effectively teleport you to the entrance, making the run out take less than a minute from most areas.

Made it to the final section died right after the spikes got sent back to the beginning is there a way back without going through it all again or am I screwed 😒
It’s been a long time since I’ve booted up the game but iirc if you came out that door in the big room with three doors you can use it to get back up top without having to go through everything again.
Full Tilt makes my head hurt so damn much

Help please i fell at 47:40 and it shot me back to basically the beginning of the dungeon how do i get back without doing EVERYTHING over again
If you’ve been unlocking shortcuts along the way it should only take a few minutes to run back to where you were.
Sir, need to asked if i fall down at full circle..and 1 more wall to hit...so what can i do?
There’s a shortcut you open early in that section that should allow you to circle back around if you fall down. If you feel even before that, you might have to circle back to the door you re-entered the main room from below and redo the segment from scratch.
Is it worth doing this dungeon if I don't care to complete FF15 to 100% and the gill that I would get? But I want to 100% this game so il prob gonna do it
The general consensus is that it’s not worth it, but it’s a unique experience within the game so it’s up to you.

None for the main game, but some people have drawn parallels to a journey taken by Ifrit into the underworld to rescue someone.

No worries. If you're just looking to complete the place and not interested in the items there are a lot of other guides around. I do recommend picking up the Genji Gloves on the statue's navel and the Black Hood at the end, as those are unique.
Ok, so you missed the wyvern lance and flame gun as well... Where the hell are they?! Starting to think that "official" weapon guide is wrong. Didn't know about the spot with the dragon claw etc. Thumbs way up!
I wonder if they mixed up Pitioss with one of the other endgame dungeons. I have an extremely vague recollection of finding something called “flame gun” at the end of the one near where you have Cor in your party briefly at the beginning of the game.
Hrm, seems like that was Keycatrich’s menace dungeon and the hyper magnum. I can’t check my file at this moment but my suspicion is bad info got passed around until several incorrectly listed those in Pitioss. I could be wrong though…
So does this dungeon eventually give you an accessory to restore your real life sanity?
But in all seriousness this the most unfun thing I may have ever done in any game ever (this is probably not entirely true but it definitely is a competitor for the top spot). Very interesting and clever design but incredibly frustrating and unenjoyable and made worse by the lack of concern for the players time. It would be one thing if the player was given some kind of auto save point a couple times throughout the dungeon or a way to teleport to the entrance and back to take a break.
This entire dungeon is literal hell and Hiroyuki Nakamura as earned an extra special place on my video game designer shit list. I have never seen something suck all of the fun out of a game I otherwise so thoroughly enjoyed so quickly. (Haven't done the Menace dungeons yet as despite having done all of the dungeons normally, Ezma has nothing useful to say to me still so I can't speak as to how those are.)
I feel like the menace dungeons were a bit less fun for me, but that's probably because they all mostly felt same-y. This one, while definitely frustrating, was unique enough an experience that I grew to like it.
