    $18 and functionally better then the gerber slim drive with that locking bit driver. It’s a really compelling option.

    Pretty cool to see a multi tool with a tanto blade

    Thanks Hvac, been looking for a folding screwdriver that could complement my Surge as a beater. Didn't think the plastic Milwaukee one would be durable enough to take longterm abuse and a fireman I know keeps breaking his Armbar. Might have to give that a try!

      the fastback might surprise, I've been chucking mine around at work for 4ish months(cutting plasterboard etc) and still works fine

      Thanks, just a little wary of plastic and multitools. The plastics on my older multitools have cracked or broken over time. I'm quite abusive, seems like the all metal ones last forever except when I break implements like screwdrivers. I really should use regular tools but pay the price to judge their toughness.

      @@PoorWaystoughbuilt makes a chonky fastback clone (box cutter/bit holder w/dual sided 1/4 bit) that's pretty solid. Sadly it's a pain to find, so I ordered mine from lowes website (only place I could find it listed). But all tools are one handed access flipout and it's got a steel frame and pocket clip

    The 3cr blade kills this. It costs maybe a few cents more to get 8cr

      Yes, but it takes about a year to source the steel and the company needs large orders to make it worthwhile. My guess is that they'll improve the steel if it sells well. Really wish these companies did Kickstarters or Drops to mass produce better steel versions.

      I just wish it had scissors. I fear that I’ll buy this one and then a version with scissors will come out next week. A well mad Armbar has been my dream pocket tool for a long time.

    For minimalist carry with that form factor and size, I still prefer my nextool knight. The only thing i didn't like about it that the Philipps screw driver doesn't lock as strong that it won't collapse with too much pressure. But overall, my favorite beater.

    Everyone talks about the armor not locking but I've never had an issue with it... I find it stays in the open position easily and when you need to torque something a bit more, you can hold it at 90 degrees just fine.

    If you want lightweight, pocketable scissors, Fiskar's collapsible scissors disappear into a fifth pocket and are better than 99% of multi-tool scissors.

    I’ve had experience with their knives and I don’t really like them that much, heat treat is no good, it wont sharpen up and screws will loosen up but you can not tighten them back and after a month the things already falling apart. I didn’t buy it, I found it in a bush. Your experience may be different but to me their knives aren’t great.

    The problem that I have with True, is the thumb stud on the blade. Its too tall and the blade itself is so short, that sharpening it is a problem. My tool came with the edge of the blade all nicked up. I wanted to put it into my Ken Onion Worksharp, but the stud gets in the way so I can't sharpen the entire blade. I have 3/4 of the edge near the base, that I can't really get to, because the stone or belts would hit and grind away at the thumb stud...

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  6 місяців тому

      That's unfortunate.

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA 6 місяців тому +1

      @@hvacbudget8600 Yeah, I wanted to like it, but the blade being banged up and not easy to sharpen due to the thumb stud, kinda ruined it for me. I didn't even bother reviewing it for my channel, I just tossed it in a drawer... Other than the poor blade design/implementation, it seems like an otherwise well built value tool.

    This is like a better version of the Gerber Slim drive. ie it's locking. Very compelling option.

    Does it have a lanyard hole? How can i add one?

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  4 місяці тому

      It has a pocket clip on the side you might be able to do something with. Otherwise you could design or buy a small leather pouch to put this in and attach a lanyard to the pouch.

    I love the tool, and the size, but I wish it had scissors. Can you recommend a budget tool just like this but with added scissors?

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  6 місяців тому +1

      Not right now. The Gerber Armbar series is probably the next best thing. Both Nextool and Swisstech have cheaper half tool versions you could check out.

      It is unfortunately common for international sites to be poorly done, and even have different ranges, and different levels of information etc. We get it all the time in Australia, along with being forced to use the local site.
