Great job great video your machine is coming along really nicely - keep it up it will drive like new at this rate or even better one could say. Is your wife approving of all these DHL car part deliveries lol she’s one of us if she does 👍👍

Thanks 🙏 backing plates are stock e30 as I was not sure e36 will fit. The only thing I had to cut into them so bigger calipers would fit 🙂👍 looks oem

Hey Paval great job - I noticed you missed the rubber grommets for the abs wires that feed through to the wheel arch to stop chaffing - I did the same but you don’t need the bmw ones buy a kit of different sizes on Amazon much cheaper than OEM. Ive now got brake envy with your upgrade thanks a bunch 😳

Thank you 🙏 Is there a grommet there? I was looking on realoem and could not find it. It would make sense to have it there though. Thanks for noticing 👍🙂 I will install there something.

I hate those single cylinder brakes with cylindrical guides - also dreaming about some good two or four cylinder brakes without guides. Also I hate stock handbrake on many old BMW cars with those tiny internal drum brakes - it has low power and really hard to adjust - for now I don't know how to workaround this. Hydraulic handbrake is good, but not for parking on severe hills.

I was looking at the 540i brembos from e34 or similar but all in all the price tag is ridiculous for what you get imo 🙂👍 I agree the ebrake is fiddly to say the least.. you don’t need ebrake for parking on hills. The can be left in gear and wheels pointing to the curb for extra safety 👍

Nice work as always. Explain again how you changed to 5 stud hubs? Is it just a replacement hub on the original arms and struts? Simple as that? Then the original brake calipers could still be used? In my similar project the ABS plugs inside the engine bay were completely broken on the harness side so just two wires and no method to know the correct orientation. Does polarity matter? Finding new plugs is another hard challenge.

Check out the episode before the brakes about the suspension. There is a sleeve on the original struts that accept e36/46 bearing. I am using e46 calipers with a bracket and 294mm mini brake disks. In the rear its just a stock e36ti that simply bolts on to e30. I had similar issue with rear abs sensors. I spliced in the e36 abs sensors and seems to work fine. I don’t think polarity matters.

@@snailspeedprojects292 rear abs plugs living under the rear seat are perfect on mine. Everything in engine bay has turned to dust. Yes, I have no fault lights present for ABS. Yes there is a rubber grommet for the hole in wheel arch you can find something generic in the auto store if you measure the hole size.
