@@davidanderson1451 appreciate your advice. Putting cold mix in and then going back to remove it in the spring and then doing a cutout with hot mix would take a lot of time of the $. We have dozens of clients who do infrared patching all year long and the patches hold for years. It’s important to add rejuvenater to the press when doing infrared and all holds well keeping the asphalt safe.

Thanks for the comment Burim. Actually no, the RY2X2 is engineered to heat asphalt between 5 to 10 minutes. Torch will take forever to heat an area of asphalt.
Infrared heaters are very useful. However your suggestion of putting chunks of old AC in a hole and re-heating it, made me laugh so hard, since I thought you were joking. As a professional in this industry for over 30 years, this is horrible advice. Fix potholes properly.
Thanks for the feedback David! We only recommend using used asphalt if it still have a black color in it, where at least the bitumen and other properties that bonds it together is still there. We also recommend buying the asphalt rejuvenator to add the bonding agent while it's being raked.
Some municipalities and counties doesn't have their own asphalt maintenance Team that's why contractors have the opportunities by bidding to win these big jobs. Are you in the asphalt maintenance business?

It will do a 2” heat press in 7 minutes. Simply rework the asphalt and surrounding area and then apply some rejuvenator and compact.
I have this same unit and it heats up a solid 2 inches down at least
