Been drooling over this video for like 2 years. Made this chicken tonight finally and OMG it was as good as I hoped! Thanks a ton!
Just came back here to say That I cooked this for my sons 4th pool party birthday. And it was amazinnnggg. Everybody loved it. And this was the EXACT flavor I was looking for! I will say that I used white vinegar, regular salt, and I did use celery salt and white pepper as well. Loved it!! Thank you so much lol
I made this yesterday on a charcoal grill and it came out excellent! Incredible flavor. The neighbors came out to ask what I was cooking. I made extra to slice and keep in the fridge for salads and sandwiches all week. After heavy grill marking I finished cooking the thicker piece chicken breasts in my oven at 350 for 8 minutes to cook through the center. Thanks for sharing! Easy technique, great results
The single best grilled chicken ever; life changing, epic. For us normal folk this is the equivalent of fancy folk going to a 5-started restaurant. Besides the taste, the best part was smelling the chicken cooking but not having to pull the car over and being able to enjoy a few beers with it. Great work, sir. Thank you!
I tried this marinade/basting sauce last night and found it absolutely delicious. I did make a few adjustments to the marinade. I used Lea & Perrins 30% Reduced Sodium Worcestershire Sauce and did not add the Sea Salt or Celery Salt due to my low sodium diet. I did add the White Pepper and used Celery Seed.
The taste and flavor is indescribably awesome, leaving your taste buds dancing for more! I think this marinade would work with Pork Chops as well, can’t wait to try.
Thanks so much for sharing this recipe Larry Wolfe, and I
will definitely be check out your other recipes!
Thank you for taking the time to post this wonderful video.

Made this chicken last night at a poolside party...everyone agreed, best grilled chicken ever. Followed the recipe exactly, so moist and flavorful. Can't wait for the next party.

Cant wait to try this recipe, looks so good.
Still using this recipe almost 8 years later. Love it!
I have been makeing this for years in a fire company pit I got from a fireman I know who used to sell it. I can make 50 pieces at a shot n just flip the rack. But I just use applecider vinager a stick of butter salt n some lemon. then I spray it on with a garden sprayer. Awsome chicken. Love the vinager taste.
I used your marinade recipe for chicken and it was delicious! My husband wants to use this again.
Thanks
Thank you!
We have made this several times. It is always a hit. Thanks for sharing.
Janna Joy Thank you Janna!! Glad you enjoyed it!!
Larry
Oh man that looks so good! I know exactly how that tastes, and so flavorful. Thanks for bringing back memories. You grilled it just right too. Beautifully plated pic too and the bitten drum was fantastic! Thanks for sharing the recipe.
Love all of the recipes that you have for chicken!
Tried Cornell Chicken first, then this - this recipe wins hands down. Awesome flavor!!
Love it!!! Only change is I used my Santa Maria. This reminded me of when I was at Fort Bragg and would travel north to Va. Route 60. YES SIR!!!
Take me down to flavor town 🤣🤣
This recipe was so delish. I just whipped up my 2nd marinade to throw down on the grill tomorrow. 😋
Beautiful looking chicken, and I absolutely love the Jumbo Joe you're using!
This recipe is very amazing just by watching.
I tried this marinade tonite & it makes for really good chicken for sure..
I'm tempted to try this with a whole chicken. Thanks for sharing!
So I've been doing this marinade for 2 years and this is my first time commenting. This marinade is fantastic. And cooking over direct heat is the way to go. I use leg quarters when I do this and they come our so flavorful and moist. NO SAUCE NEEDED! It will just take away from that amazing flavor. Thanks Brother! Awesome stuff!
What is the sauce used in the marinade after the vegetable oil?
Darrion Larry worcheshire sauce
Great job Larry. I also have used that recipe I found on the Bullet Board. It's interesting all the discussion there of Church Chicken and so forth.
I like this recipe with white or apple vinegar. It's real good stuff.
U r the man. Great vid Larry thanks for sharing. It's all about the marinade when your grilling chicken
I tried this last night and only had about 45 minutes to let the chicken marinate but followed all other directions and it turned out absolutely delicious. thank you for the recipe!!
Sorry for the delay! Glad you liked the chicken! Thanks for watching and giving it a try!
Larry
I love the dog panting in the background towards the end. I bet he was smelling the chicken and drooling 😋 😆 I am going to try this recipe because it looks extremely tasty!
Right 😆😆
I love watching food cook on the grill!!
Today I made this marinade and cooked chicken thighs over lump charcoal along with your potato wedges. Everything was so good, even my kids ate the food. 😂 I never had roadside chicken in my life, so I did not know what to expect. It was delicious, I recommend everyone try this out
I did exactly as you said and my chicken was delicious!!!! Thank you!!
Made some of this tonight. absolutely incredible. The aroma made my neighbor hungry haha. Thanks buddy!
LOL!! Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic looking chicken!! Great recipe. I bet cooking it on a Santa Maria attachment would be awesome!!
Now I'm ready to eat! Looks so delicious😍

Jordan Villont it’s soooooo delicious!!!!
making this tonight!!!! thanks for this recipe!
I like the last part once having the bite and tasting, yummy
Thanks for the tips! Appreciate it. I usually en dup burning chicken before its fully cooking thinking they should be directly over heat all the time.
So in South Africa this is called braai. It’s for the most part how we bbq. Great video. Thank you for making it.
Gonna try this today... so excited
gee bee Thank you for watching!! Please let me know how you like it!
Larry
simple, easy and tasty.
That looks so good!
I've been searching and searching for a chicken marinade/mop recipe that would take me back to the large BBQ's put on by my father's volunteer firemen group when I was a kid. I've smelled something similar from time-to-time during some country church BBQ functions, but have never collected the recipe. This one sounds like it may be spot on. I'll try it and let you know.
Larry............. That marinade sounds so good I'm about to marinade everything in my house in it !!!
Omg that made my mouth water!!! I love the smell of those roadside bbq's.. I'm always thinking, damn, how the hell do they get all that great smell to come out of that! Now I know, thanks Larry.
Larry, thanks for another winning recipe that you made accessible to novices like me! It looks super! --- John
Looks delicious. Couple of questions: Do you do the entirety of the cooking over the direct coals save for the last 5-7 minutes? You mention covering the chicken a couple of times during the video but don't give an amount of time to cover it. Also, how often do you baste the pieces? Could you give a written step-step of the grilling process? That would be a huge help to a novice like me. Thanks! Can't wait to try the recipe.
That chicken looks outstanding. It remind me of the open pit chicken the volunteer fireman would make every Memorial day in my hometown. I like how you put the Virtual Webber forum post to video, nice work.
Chester Puffington Yes it's that same type of chicken with the intoxicating smell for miles that almost every local fire dept makes!! Thank you very much for watching!
Larry
Hello, I'm so glad I found your channel! My husband and I have never grilled chicken before so this will be the first recipe we try! We're super stoked because yours looks so delicious! We will let you know how it turned out!

Tried this for the first time about 3 weeks ago and I have done it every weekend since. Still trying to figure out my Sear and Cook times but its Hands down the best grilled chicken I've ever done. Thanks for the video !
Danny: what is the total cook time.? (I couldn't find in the comments) thanks...
@@gravewalker1632 3 to 5 per side until charred. Then move to indirect heat.
I had to watch this yet again, it looks so delicious. I have got to make this soon!
Thank you John! This marinade is good on pork too!
What is the black sauce called in the marinade I couldn’t understand? 3 quarter cup of ________?
Love it...I will be trying this!
That chicken looks good man.. gonna try out this marainde!! 🐔
This was the bomb! So succulent and flavours were awesome 👏 God bless
chicken looks amazing great video
+Justin Garcia Thank you Justin!
Thanks Larry, I actually meant the old Jumbo, I noticed the 2 holes at the top on each sides, I have the same model , I got it off CL for 20 bucks last year. Started reading and people said it was hard to control temps because of the vent placement. But I see you did the chicken without problems.
Awesome, been wanting to duplicate chicken this way for a long time, thanks again.
Certified Gold!!!!!
I’ve made this with the Vortex in the Weber Kettle. It came out awesome
I could here the train from Flavor Time in the background! Great look'in chicken!

Thank you Bobby! Hope you get a chance to give this a try.....it's really good stuff!

Wow Larry you handled yo bizness on that chicken bro. So crispy juicy tender and moist, now that's a combination that can't be beat!!!!!
I'm going to give it a try.
AWESOME ! ! !
Great video Wolfepit
🍗🍗Looks incredibly delicious....
Right around 45 minutes to cook. I didn't take the internal temp, but if you wanted to you can shoot for 170º internal.
Thank you for watching!
Larry
45 minutes over the coals, or was there some indirect cooking as well?
Looks good!! Was the basting sauce the same as the marinade? Just wondering.
How the hell did I miss this gem?! Love this
+29render Your eyes were wide shut! LOL
Loving the beautiful crispy skin on chicken..Apple Cider vinegar definitely adds so much flavor to the recipes...That little magic bullets can be quite handy isn't it? I use mine all the time. Now, I've never cooked with celery seeds? Whats different about using them over celery salt?
I made this recipe but I added cayenne pepper to give it a little bit of a kick, and came out very delicious!!!! 😋😋😋
Larry, you did that chicken right!! Great marinade!!
Mouth watering.
Siegfried Kenswil You can do it indirect, but then you will miss the flavor you get from basting over the hot coals as it steams. The skin is supposed to be charred for this specific recipe. Let me know how you like it low and slow. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching.
Larry
It may be the best BBQ chicken you ever eat, but any chicken without skin will never be close to the best chicken I ever eat.
Lol I can hear your dog in the background just waiting for his taste test and review...made this marinade today and it was amazing...I used chicken breast🤘🏽💯💛
Can't wait. Going to make this today! Happy 4th of July
Hope you enjoy! Happy Independence Day!
Gotaa try dis LW Thanks fer posting.
This has been our go-to chicken recipe this year. Thanks for introducing me to it! Going to try adding cayenne pepper tonight like +busa89 mentioned.
Thanks John glad you are enjoying it! Please let me now how you like the cayenne addition!
did this today worked out great, I added a bottle of beer to the marinade, thanks for sharing
Amazing, gonna try this out today.
this recipe will give you that nice Smoky flavor you were looking for in the other video
***** Awesome, thanks a lot.
I tried it with a Slow n Sear cooking indirect first and sear at the end. Came out pretty well. However I just ordered a Smokenator Hovergrill, my thinking is I can (hopefully) cook direct over the coals the whole time but still far enough away so the flames won't burn the chicken. That way the marinade and chicken fat can drip down for the entire cook, not just at the beginning or at the end. The Santa Maria attachment might work better, but they are expensive so trying the cheap way first!
I’m in Memphis Tennessee thanks for recipe
I'll bump up the excitement by doing donuts in my car as I watch this on my phone :-)
Is this the jumbo weber?
Great recipe will definitely try it
Yes, Jumbo Joe! Thanks for watching!
