Thanks for a good detailed review. My Katanas decomissioned my Atlas, thats all I have to say :). My old body benefits much more of the cushioning of Katanas while maintaining top response.
Thanks for your take! I wish the Atlas kept the rubber on the bottom but used a softer foam on the top like with the Force.
Tx for the comparison, am running Flux XV and got myself a pair of Rome’s
oh man that should be a night and day difference when it comes to shock absorption. I'd love to hear your take on shock absorption vs. response with the two and anything else that comes to mind.

Thanks! So if you like ankle support in uneven snow pass on the c8. Haven't tried the Astro so can't say but seems to be using the same materials/tech from Rome. I would recommend the new Force or Rome Katana as they pair up the best with the super wide super pig. Looking to possibly buy these. I ride a 2024 shadowban and mainly like to carve alot at speed, small jumps, some buttering, no boxes or rails(will not be doing them at all). i also prioritize fast turning at slower speeds.
my current bindings are 2024 stratas i love them but i wish the ankle strap sat up a little higher for more toeside response. would the katana be good for me? also looking into the bataleon astro fullwrap, atlas, and 2025 falcor.

Yeah Katanas would be a great call. Haven't tried the Bataleon so can't comment. Pass on the Atlas and maybe on the Falcor but like the Katana the best based on what you wrote.

I love my katanas also, curiosity: how much forward lean did you setup? Considering starts with zero, I'm now using 2, but felt too much sometimes
I use little to no forward lean. I like forward lean but it digs into my "even featured" calves and causes cramping. With the amount of days I ride I can't afford to have messed up calves. What do you mean by too much? Also have you rotated your high backs?
I love my Astro very similar to the black label.
I run black labels 22 and just bought Astro Asym haven’t tried them. Do you notice the difference in the baseplate stiffness? Or pretty similar all round. I have used atoms for one day and I really liked them. The high back was a bit stiff though
I really need to mess with the ankle strap response adjustment. I put them on the Rome Stalefish straight out of the box and felt like I really had to throw my weight over the board to get the response I wanted. It was hard to tell if the auxtech was just super flexible because I could barely feel that they were there, atleast compared to the Atlas. Do you think the ankle strap adjustment will give enough drive to the Stalefish or should I move them to another board in the quiver like the Dancehaul or Capita Mercury?
No, they should easily power the Stale Fish if you got the right size board for your specs. Make sure you have your boot centered in the binding as I describe in Adjustability and move it up a little bit higher on the ankle. I set the strap higher on the outside of my foot and lower on the inside of my foot. Gives me the leverage when I need it, and the flexibility to bone out grabs and absorb bumps. Try a mixture and see if that helps.
@@craigwilliams9064 I appreciate the info. Im going to try that. I moved the strap higher and at first was skeptical but I can see how there is a new “hinge point” to increase response. Seems like the new point will help lift the heel edge compared to just pulling it.

Both are excellent bindings. The Katana is more smooth and the Black Label is more dynamic.

Torrents fit me better so I prefered that boot but the Bodegas blend well with Rome bindings if they fit your foot better than mine. If you want to go Rome try the Libertines.
Katanas vs Nitro Phantom/phantom+ ?
Mainly resort riding on the east coast, going on a Burton Kilroy twin. Open to other suggestions. Your time is appreciated 🙏
Katana's more shock absorbent/poppy and more response adjustability. Phantom + is more a competitor to the Katana. More damp but still pretty shock absorbent. Phantom is ok but for some reason I loved the strap of the + way more. Usually its the other way around.
Would you say the extra money you pay for the black label are mainly becos of the high back?

Hey guys! I have the rome katanas L, paired with K2 enders. The katanas have been cutting into the sides of the boots. Have you guys heard anything of that issue?

Hit me up here if you want more in depth help. Wide boots are best. Regular Burton boots that are heat molded can work. ThirtyTwo Wide's, Ride Deadbolt or Torrent or Wide Ride boots work. Katanas have been the only bindings I use since I tried them. Adjustability is great but the connection to my board lets me manipulate it like an appendage While Dampening enough to prevent chatter.

Seems rome bindings only go up to a size 12. Do you know if they are ok with a size 13 or 14?
Yes that's my problem to. I asked the Rome customer support. They say they do. But i am not sure. If you got a new pair of footprint reduced Boots in 13. i think your okay. But 14 may be pushing it. i saw someone comment on a pair of bataleon Astro's (More less the same binding when it comes to baseplates and frame) That he had problems with making the straps reach. Again there is no standards in how big boots are :) I think i just have to try and order a pair :)
@Runetone from what I understand the Nitro Team Pro and the Union Force are ok with boots up to size 14 / 15. But I'm gonna take my boots to a local shop to make sure.
It sucks having big feet, it limits board, boot and binding choices 🤷
@@GuglielmoMannaia Yes i got a pair of Nitro phantom +They fit bigger boots. But i want a pair of bindings with a bit softer flex and mini disk. To go with a more freestyle butter setup. So a pair of new boots with reduced footprint. And then i think i can fit Rome's bindings. i cud go with N Team pro or U Force Xl. but i want To try Rome or Bataleon :D

My big foot rider friends say the same. The Force XL is a great choice. They only make it in XL in the new force though.
what would you pair with a yes dicey 20-21: Katana or new force ?
Maybe the Katana with the ankle strap adjusted down for less response but probably the Vice, Union Ultra or Strata. You don't need much response for the Dicey so going with something a little less responsive would be best if you sized this board right.

The board was a present from my firend 2 years ago, and at that time i was at the upper limit of the weight related to the size chart and last year from different reasons I dindt have time to ride. I am 5.4 ft and at this moment I weight 220 lbs, and looking at yes size chart the borad sims to be undersized. The board is 156 cm. Do you think is a major problem ? What would you reccomend me ?

Is katana a good match for a flagship or would the clever be better
Both the Cleaver and Katana can work with the adjustable response. If you have the Flagship with set back/pow inserts neither are a good fit with their Hybrid Mini-Discs. They will work with them but you can't adjust your stance width/slide the bindings tip to tail. Instead look for a full size disc binding like the Union Atlas or Force. I currently ride a older reflex cartel love the board feel ; is union atlas compareanle

Not sure what you mean by tougher? I would go Atlas if you want a more damp/chatter free ride at the expense of shock absorption. Cleaver would be much more shock absorbent but less damp. Both are very responsive but the Cleaver is more if you adjust the response in the ankle strap.
Difference between katana 2024 and Union Force 2024???
Both are great bindings and you could have a beautiful life with either. It just comes down to what's more important for you.
Force- Full size disc, Very adjustable, Super reliable. Excellent straps and ratchets.
Katana- Hybrid Mini disc. Works with set back inserts but no adjustability. Much more springy shock absorption. Very adjustable and Adjustable response too. Not as reliable. Toe strap stretches too much.
@@thegoodridesnow look I’ve got Korua dart+, Transition finder, Lib Tech Orca, NS Proto FR and Nitro team pro, for most of my quiver I use Union Atlas and I love this binding but sometimes during park or flat trick session I feel my feet very stressed, and I want something much comfy but that it can have good stability on the track and if maybe I wanted to go out in the pow sometime during my freestyle performances.
Do you think that one of the two bindings I’ve mentioned before will be good or they are pretty much similar to my atlas? If yes do you think Union Ultra could be a better solution to have a different feeling but with a good amount of response?
The stiff rubber in the heel of the Atlas is what is causing that feel you have so the spongy/springy material in the Katana will be night and day different. Same with the Ultra but with different material. Both will be very cush rides. With the Force and the softer foam in the heel it will have a similar ride to the Atlas but with more shock absorption. It just doesn't have the rubber on the bottom like the Atlas to make the board chatter less below you. Bottom line is all fix the issue. If you want to get into it more hit me up here. Recommendations? Yes Standard paired with Katana or Atlas 🤔🤔
Both will work well. Atlas has more stance width adjustability though so if you don't fit the stance width on the set back inserts (same as reference stance) of the Standard go Atlas. If that stance width works then Katana's will give you more shock absorption and make the board flex easier underfoot. Atlas will make it feel a little more stiff/damp.
