    A good way to keep it all straight in your head is a D1 pattern is like the action you make to buckle your seatbelt.
    D2 is like grabbing money from your opposite pocket and then chucking it over your shoulder.

    Sean, you have answered you own question in a way. With regard to performing any PNF pattern, the key is function and functional retraining. If you are tall enough to resist through the range with the patient you are working with and they have an action that requires them to do the pattern in standing, then that would be an appropriate way to train them. You might need to be a little creative with your positioning but remember that you want to improve function. Achieve that and you will win.

      Democracy Manifest patients who have difficulty crossing midline and athletes - it improves their ROM and increases strength
