So I'm a social salsa dancer (haven't done any ballroom), and I have been doing your posture exercises for the last couple weeks which are great.
I'm going to try these footwork exercises too and see where it goes. :)
I just went to a salsa congress over the weekend where we have these long socials. Of course, after 2-3 hours of dancing, feet are starting to hurt, I can sense my leading starts getting less precise, and that's generally when I stop dancing for the night. It's quite frustrating, the rest of the body is not tired at all, you still want to dance but the feet say no. So I'm really looking at gaining more stamina in my feet, and I'll see if I benefit from these exercises.
    But great channel Alexey.

I really like your exercices . I shared a previous video with my students and I already see much more energy and control in feet, so thank you very much for your tips and kindness.
I would be very interested to see exercices for rotations ( feet , legs , hips, head?? ..) that would be fantastik.
    Again thank you for sharing.

      thank you

      Thanks for your reply.
I give my students what I do/see for myself. And you seem to be a very useful pill lol.
What I mean is I see very often issues for preparing, coordinating and stabilizing when the body turns. For a step close step , a simple NY in rumba, a spin ..
I think a video on how to prepare, to isolate the body parts and where to place the body weight in order to keep balance and strenght and impact during turning actions , that would be sooo useful.
Thank you again for reading all messages and keep posting videos .

Hi! Thanks for the exercise videos to improve posture, to keep shoulders down and gain balance. They are really useful for me, a dance beginner, since these are exactly my weaknesses and you explain the exercise very clear. My other bottleneck is body isolations. How could I disconnect my body?

Thank you Alexey! Another fun combination is balance board plus slashpipe :D
We have a competition running here: who can balance on balance board with slaspipe for ten seconds on one foot, eyes closed. One person did it (not me).
But those "simple" execices with the ball between the ankles are new to me and i think they are great because they can be done anyplace.
Was your dance-partner lurking in at 8:29? ;-)

    Hello everyone!
Thank you, Alexey for your videos! They are really very helpful.
As a beginner, after 2 months of dance lessons, I've realized that the most difficult part for me is not being able to feel the music (almost complete lack of sense of rhythm) and count steps to music. Let's say in Cha Cha if I get confused in the middle of the song I won't be able to catch 1, 2, 3 etc in the music afterward.
Is it possible to make some videous on that or any advices?

Hi Jemma, I am very glad to know, that you found my videos helpful on your journey of learning ballroom dance.
Musicality is the core skill in dancing and the good news is that you can develop this skill. The key for developing is pationce and consistence.
Try to listen to more music with strong bit and count it out loud. Clap with the music (make sure it is not while you driving thou :)
Do it under control of someone who is better at musicality, ask them to help you start on "1" (first bit of musical measure) Ask them to correct you when you will start going off bit.
Remember: it is a proses, don't give up and keep dancing.
I will make a video on this topic in future where I will give more practical exercises.
      Thank you for great question!

Psst, a better spelling is "strengthening". 😉

Alexey, how long can you balance on the balancing cushion with your eyes closed? :)

  • @Nikkioflaguna

I can’t even balance with my eyes open and no balance ball! Maybe it’s too much wine...
Anyway, thanks for the video, this one is going to be challenging!
