Had some knee damage a while back and went to a personal trainer for a bit, they had me work on all the same areas you did, (single leg deadlifts (bonus on a stablity board!), and glute leg raise) it all really did help with foot work stability and less joint damage!
@@firewolf7108 sometimes the glute raises were pretty standard ones on the floor, sometimes using a weight on my hip for added resistance. Other times I worked with resistance bands and did standing glute kickbacks
@@BetaMonk3y Ah I see, thank you! I only recently started dancing but having also just recovered from arthritis is really ruining some things, knees suddenly giving out and everything, so thanks! I actually just excluded these exercises but now Ill add them back :)
i have been dancing for the past three years and i always had weak ankles that didn’t allow me to enjoy footwork, but the exercices for the stabilizing muscles have been really helpful; thank you!
Omg some of these tips you said ive already been incorporating when dancing or learning a new dance. I recently learned about staying low basically grounded when dancing bc in traditional african dances we always stay grounded. Then the learn the sequence i always do that whenever im stuck learning a new move i cant get and once i break it down like you showed i always see myself learning the move faster and then trying to make it my own!! And also i always find myself tap dancing to music with my feet with or without music and it’s been a way for me to get the sound in my ear and to match the song when dancing!!
I can't afford the app but I really like watching ads cause they're the only thing I can afford and I, so happy y'all showcased bastwana dance for the tip love from South Africa
I had to watch this twice. The first time I was laughing so hard, I couldn't pay attention. You are hilarious! I love being entertained and educated at the same time. TY Charlie & STEEZY!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video..i always end up messing up the footwork and I finally understood what i did wrong all these years..will definetly take more classes on steezy😊✌
not a video, but maybe i can give some tips? one is the same as in this video: stay low and keep your legs slightly bent! it might feel awkward at first but it really does help you move around better. two has more to do with feeling: loosen up your body and try to get into the feel of the rhythm while listening to music, optionally a few times with your eyes closed. it just starts with bouncing naturally to the beat, similar to the way you’d move in a club. i don’t know much about modern and ballet (my background before i started hiphop was in commercial jazz lol), but at least to me) it’s more about informal/natural flow than executing a tight move perfectly, the way you would in classical ballet. of course a hip hop move needs to be finished well, but not with the full graciousness of ballet or contemporary. it’s just… more vibey? idk if this makes any sense but this is as far as i can explain it lol. good luck!!
I'm an intermediate dancer, want to join Steezy to learn new styles but I want to know if they provide feedback on how I'm dancing so that I can improve in those areas.
i do have this one problem tho my legs get fatigued fairly easily I can do warmups and my legs feel fine, but when it comes to dancing, I get more fatigue and it gets awkward after a while.
what shocks me is how nice the youtube vids are but how busted up the same footwork classes are on steezy. like they are raw files and looking through finger smudged glass
😩your contents are amazing.. please make a video on HOW TO EDIT YOUR DANCE VIDEOS AND TIPS TO MAKE THEM AS COOL AND AS PROFESSIONAL AS POSSIBLE 🙏Thank you!!
HeY! It's totally normal that you feel really awkward dancing publibly because I guess you have never done so. And that's okay there's no problem in that it's just like a little journey. I would recommend you to 1) start recording your dance and watching it 2) dancing infront of family or friends 3) dancing publicly. But you don't have to start dancing all the classes you have learned at Steezy you can simply start with bouncing at bus stop or practice some footwork steps or you even could do it with some friends of yours so then it's less awkward because you're not all alone.
Also, GOOD SHOES. I use shoes that work perfectly with my dance studio's flooring (not too slippery or sticky). The first shoes I used stuck to the floor very horribly so when I'd do any foot work my feet would move but my shoes wouldn't. Taught me how to distribute my weight on my feet better though!
I know we say this often but: WE LOVE YOU, STEEZY EDITOR.
We have multiple incredible editors and they appreciate all of the loving comments!!! ❤️
