I worked in a discotheque in Benidorm-Spain from 1969 to 1971. My best friends were scousers, one of them became my best friend to this day. In the early 1970s, Toxteth, Bootle and other neighborhoods were quite rough. Over the years, I've seen Liverpool change. In the early 1990s, I was with my family with my comrade and his family in Liverpool and then I really fell in love with Liverpool. I have always found the people there very open, down to earth and friendly, but especially the humor is of the highest order. I've never had so much stomach ache from laughing as I did in Liverpool. A very special city!

my partner's late father sailed all over the world from Liverpool on various shipping lines, from New York to the Amazon. Australia to Hong Kong. all his life at sea . he told me the only place that really got to him was the three graces in the distance on the River Mersey when he was sailing homeward that brought a lump to his throat when he saw the magnificent buildings on the pier head. he loved buildings but said you won't find many better than my home port and he had been all over the world. God Bless you Billy Lad.

Been to Glasgow and Edinburgh and for pubs Liverpool wipes the floor with both. These two episodes barely scratched the surface of city centre pubs in Liverpool. Glasgow is great and Edinburgh is un matched architecturally but Liverpool is an absolute firecracker of a city that's alot bigger than people realise including these two it seemed.

Welcome to my city. The city that Thatcher wanted to start a managed decline of, in her reign. HAA. Considering the wind you both did really well in the areas you covered, that was some yomp.😊 Being housebound for the last 15 years it was a pleasant experience seeing how much it has changed, thank you for the tour ❤.

The red brick Bavarian, looking building was the headquarters of the white star, shipping line who owned the Titanic, and that was where all the administration took place. If you look online, you can find pictures of crowds outside following the sinking in 1912 attempting to hear news of many of the sailors that came from Liverpool. It is also a copy of the building which stands on the side of the River Thames in London. That was formally the police headquarters known as Scotland Yard

Liverpool. A vibrant city with real people with wonderful humour
The Beatles certainly generate so much income to the city. International and domestic
My first visit was as a child going on a family holiday to the Isle of Man from the Docks
Even at that age I was in awe of the Liver Building with the birds a top
My second visit was a football match and actually stood on the Kop when it was all standing and the crowd sang Beatles songs
Amazing atmosphere Sadly Villa lost 2…1
My third visit when I was over with my late wife and we did a Beatles tour
My favourite comedian was Ken Dodd a favourite son of Liverpool whom we saw in Blackpool
The Walker gallery was amazing and I loved the portrait. “ When did you last see your father”

Thanks for showing Liverpool in such a positive light, I was chuffed to see you taking the time to explore our wonderful City.
You and Helen put some miles in over the two days and especially in that wind, much Kudos.
The building you thought was the Town Hall was The Port Of Liverpool Building. It is part of what we call the Three Graces along with The Cunard Building and The Royal Liver Building. All the buildings were built between 1903 and 1916.
When we have visitors, we always take them on a tour of Liverpool and try and cram in as much as we can. The statue you saw when you came out of the Vines is known locally as Dickie Lewis. Dickie for the obvious reason and Lewis as it stood above the entrance to what was a massive department store John Lewis. ( which has now relocated to Liverpool One shopping centre). As you say even two days is not enough.
Look forward to your next Vlog. you need to come back and go on the Mersey Ferry cruise in the Summer. Another excuse for another great night in the City.

Hope Street, between the 2 cathedrals is full of places to eat. It would have been 5 min walk. Ye Olde Cracke was about 5 min walk too, where the Beatles met during college. Also the PHilharmonic pub with the marble gents toilets a 5 min walk and does food. Lots of places to eat near China town too, another 5 min walk. Love the Bridewell.

Loved watching your time in Liverpool. We go once a year around December, catch the train to Lime street station then walk across the road to stay at the Adelphi for 2 nights, the rooms are rough n ready but cheap and includes breakfast.
There's so much to do in Liverpool and the night life is great, we've found the best time to go is midweek as the weekend is too busy if you like to go down Mathew street.

The Anglican Cathedral is the 8th largest in the world. Many films and TV series are made here, especially around the Georgian Quarter. It's a shame that many visitors miss seeing Speke Hall, it is a large Tudor Mansion in large grounds, close to John Lennon Airport.
Down at the pierhead the building you said was beautiful is the Cunard Building, the building you said looked like from Amsterdam is The White Star Line the owners of the Titanic, the architect built a replica in London that was Scotland Yard.
